Restoration of Vintage 1969 Omega Seamaster

- Опубліковано 6 вер 2024
- Today we are restoring a vintage Omega Seamaster 1969. This watch was found in a drawer of a retired jeweler.
The watch shows signs of heavy wear and the gold plated case, bracelet and clasp are heavily scratched. It has not been used for the last 20 years.
The watch is equipped with a rare movement calibre Omega 565. Replacement parts are rare and expensive.
It is not running properly, so we will try to restore it to near original condition and give it a second life.

Be an owner of a 1968 seamaster, I am so proud and happy to see the well-done artist for a vintage one.
Thank you so much for watching ☺️
All the parts of the OMEGA ARE IN LOVE WITH EACH OTHER .
Thank you so much for watching ☺️
Can’t drink, smoke ,no drugs and perfect site, hearing , memory.
A clean really clean work shop. Don’t forget NOHOW
Thank you for watching ☺️
I appreciate watchmakers who will go so far as to even polish and restore the case and bracelet. I've noticed that many just service the inside and not the outside. I think both matter. Maybe the owner of a watch doesn't care, but I think it's just as important as the movement. Thank you!!!
I think like you! Watch case must be cleared and serviced like the movement itself. A lot of people don’t like… because of the “history” of the watch 🫣
For me a watch has to be perfect!
Thank you for watching ☺️
"We got the tools, we got the talent!"
Thank you :D
In a world where everyone is clamoring over Rolex these watches are classic beauty. Bravo on your meticulous resurrection.
Thank you for the compliment! I'm glad you enjoyed my work!
I can't think of a single thing that could have made this video better. Outstanding work, beautifully recorded.
Thank you so much for kind words ☺️
Nice job!! Beautiful watch.
Thank you for watching
I have a similar vintage Omega with 7 bead bracelet, a bit earlier - around 1964 or 1965 I think, I bought it new. It has Geneve on the dial and a Seamaster back but has no date complication. I stopped wearing it about 25 years ago after it had been all around the World with me several times. In my ignorance I even took it scuba diving a few times in Fiji to depths of 100ft with no problem. I'm going to get the back taken off to have a look at it, it has only been serviced once, way back, when I can't remember - maybe around 1985? Lovely watches, and as usual you treat today's example with the skill and reverence it deserves. Subscribed.
Thanks for the comment, what a nice history you have with this beautiful watch! Glad to have you on the channel ☺️
@@MagicWatchmaking Thank you for your comment. The back was taken off so I could see the beautiful mechanism. A true wonder of the craftsman's art. I put it on a Timegrapher and it still keeps time amazingly accurately.
Your work is absolutely incredible. I wish I had your talent. I'm amazed at how beautiful this watch turned out. You should be very proud! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much for kind words and watching ☺️
Have a nice day
Hi, this is the exact same watch which I have inherited 4 years ago from my late father. Truly lovely to see a careful and considerate restoration. Thank you for sharing this video. God bless you.
Thank you for watching, I'm glad you enjoyed the video. It's a beautiful piece that you can remember your father by.
I REALEY LIKE THE TOOLS , SO PERFECT FOR THE JOB.
People like your self sir I am amazed by how you take these watches apart but what is more amazing is how the hell do you remember were all the parts go back together 😮outstanding sir I take my hat off to you and I can’t believe you only have 500 scribers so I have hit the button great watch a watch l would wear not because it a Sea master but a very nice watch 😊thank you 👍👏👏
Thank you so much for kind words ☺️
After years of watchmaking believe me you remember where the parts goes back 🫣
What a beautiful item and a excellent work.
Thank you so much for watching ☺️
the peaceful feeling, i was wondering where it was coming from and realized your great videos have no back ground noise or music lol, you do great work
Thank you for watching ☺️
My very first video has some background noise 🙃
I've gotta admire your skill. Working on those tiny parts would be nerve wrecking.
Thank you! It definitely requires a lot of patience 😅
You didn't skimp out on the tools at all.
Great video, very relaxing, Thanks for sharing
Thanks for the support!
I’m lucky enough to own a 1967 Seamaster 600. With date, so it’s the 613 movement. Can’t tell you how delighted I am. Fully serviced: but not polished quite as well as you do. Authenticity, maybe. I would have preferred polishing. I find the cleaning and polishing the most fun part of the watch videos, and you did not disappoint! ❤
Thank you so much for watching and kind words ☺️
Not sure how you only have less than 500 subscribers but I can tell you this. Your content is up there with the best. Please keep up the good work and you will hit 100k soon enough.
Thanks.
Thank you so much for your kind comment, your support means a lot! Glad you enjoy my work, new content coming soon :)
Beautiful watch, even more beautiful restoration!
It really is! Many thanks 😊
Your videos are worth watching. I respect those who revive valuable things. I know how difficult this work is and how much it takes strong nerves and finger tendons to control small things.
I wish you success
Thank you so much for that wonderful comment! Made my day ☺️
Great video without unnecessary chatter. And beautiful job on the Omega. Look forward to seeing many more of your videos.
Thank you for the nice comment, already working on a new project :)
OMG what a wonderful documentary with amazing photography made my day thankyou forever
Thank you very much for your kind words! I really appreciate it
Fascinating. I recently came upon a similar Omega in similar condition. I contacted Omega about a full service and dial restoration and wanted to understand more about what they would be likely to do. Now I can see why the price (including sending it back to Switzerland from Australia) is so high. So much involved, but what a result!! Gorgeous. And I agree the calm simplicity of your video production is very soothing to watch!
Thank you so much for watching and kind words ☺️
Have a great day
Thats a beautiful time piece on your main page. And Great job on this watch
Thank you so much :)
Super quality equipment! Maybe someday for me))
Thank you 😊 I appreciate your kind words
Clean job!!!!Keep it up.All the best.
Thank you.... cheers ☺️

Thank you! Cheers!
I bought one of this model and liked very the wonderful video.
Thank you for watching ☺️
What a video. Perfect!
Thank you so much ☺️
Ok I have to admit it. You deserve a lot more audience. Great video and sooo relaxing with all these tingly sounds. I would definately recommend this channel! Thanks for sharing. I'm going to watch another one right now!
Thank you so much for your kind words. Truly appreciated!
You are SO right! At the minimum, I would have to number (format?) the individual sections of those parts trays so I could remember what I took off first!
Great video!! Super professional and gentle. I really enjoyed seeing. Thanks and keep up the good work.
Thank you for the kind words, very encouraging!
Fascinating, I have this exact watch left to me by my father. I see now the work that goes into a service. Great skill there. 👏
Thanks so much!
Sehr schöne und saubere Arbeit.
Thank you very much
A really well-made video of your great work on this beautiful Omega! Keep it up!
Thank you so much for your words of encouragement! I appreciate it
Great work on a wonderful Omega. Turned out extremely well. Wish I had one. Thanks for the tour.
These old Omegas are amazing, aren't they? Thanks for watching!
Im wearing the exact model as Im watching this! My grandfathers watch.
Very nice watch. Thanks for watching ☺️
@@MagicWatchmaking you would not by any chance know where I could find the original bracelet?
@fernandopereira4299
I think Omega (the company) still offer this bracelet. If not second hand market
Нда, работа гораздо ювелирней чем у любого ювелира!
Thank you 😊
Who is this man,I want to redo my seamaster deville 1969 ref. 570 now.
Have the same watch that i recently serviced.
I was so curious to see how did he service my 565 movement.
Thanks so much for this.
Thank you for your comment, enjoy your watch 😊
Beautiful watch. Well done on the servicing.
Thank you kindly ☺️
MORE than beautiful!
Thank you ☺️
Guaoooo!!!. Todo un Artista 🎨. Saludos desde Cuba.
Thank you so much ☺️
This is such a delicate and fine watchpiece. So much better than modern 43+ mm monsters. 38-40 mm is ideal for me. And of course hats off to your perfect work with such tiny things
Thank you so much!
that's very clean for a half-century old watch.
True! Hasn't gotten a lot of use :)
Bravo you got it great video up there with the best great job
Thank you very much!
Beautiful watch. Great job restoring it!
Thank you very much!
A job well done into a beautiful watch with an excellent videography. Thank you!
Thank you so much for the comment, Cesar! Appreciate it ☺️☺️
It really helps to have all of the right tools (pricey!). 🙂
Right tools are really needed... thank you for kind words
@@MagicWatchmaking I'm really fascinated by watch repair/restoration... I'd like to get into it as a hobby, but the price of all the required tools make it a rather difficult investment.
Fascinating. Brilliant job. Looks stunning. 👍
Thank you for watching ☺️
Soy relojero aficionado y solo puedo decirte que tus trabajos son muy buenos.
Enhorabuena y sigue así.

Great job. I learn a lot from you.

Un trabajo maravilloso!!!!!!

What oils and grease did you use? Loved watching this and all the tiny detail and extra care you take is impressive
All oils and grease I use are listed in the description. If you use the affiliate links that will help the channel growing.
Thank you so much for watching ☺️
amazing la restauración
Thank you, Mario!
Well done! I must ask...you indicated the movement had become magnetic. I saw no remedy for that, only a compass point test. Was the solution purposely left out?
Demagnetizing is the solution. I demagnetize the movement.
Thank you for watching ☺️
@@MagicWatchmaking I realize that, but how did you demagnetize the movement?
Nevermind! I saw your demagnetizing device on the Cartier Roadster restoral. Sorry, I'm new to the channel.
Demagnetizing is a default process during service. The device are available in different types. Very simple or very sophisticated.
great vid bro, quick uestion what did u use for the barrel in term of grease/oil
The barrel walls for automatic movements a use Kluber P125. For the barrel arbor and mainspring I use Moebius HP1300
Wonderful job!
I noticed that you had the lift angle at 52 degrees for this 565 movement.
How much does the lift angle matter when using a timegrapher?
Thank you for the support, what a great question! The correct angle for this movement is 49 degrees. One degree lift angle increases the amplitude reading by 5 degrees. In my humble opinion it does not matter very much.
Magic Watchmaking,
Actually, I was aware of the proper lift angle being 49 degrees; however, I wanted to be as polite and respectful as possible in asking the question. After all, you are the watchmaker, not I.
Anyway, someone at a watchmaker’s shop recently put my 565 movement (1968 166010) on a timegrapher and left it at 52 degrees while checking it out. Now I know why. So, if the lift angle is increased by one degree, amplitude increases by 5 degrees. Got it.
Thank you for responding!
Super, Respekt
Thank you so much... glad to hear that

Hello,
Your work is meticulous!
I own a 1968 Sparkle cal 750. I would like to see it restored like this. I am assuming it is a significant investment. Are the seals and O rings still available?
I also own a 1974 Tudor Prince Oysterdate that could use a go through.
Thanks for watching and kind words. O-Rings and seals are mostly standard sizes and still as spare parts available.
老亞米茄都非常靚!真想找一隻。
It’s hard to find one in good condition… totally rare.
Thank you so much for watching ☺️
How much does a restoration like this generally cost if the watch is still in working condition?
Depends of the amount of time needed. There is no general rule though. I worked on this watch about 2 days. Thank you for watching ☺️
just wow
Thank you ☺️
What are you using and doing to polish a gold plated watch so well without losing the gold plating??? Could you please help
I'm using Felpato mop stage 4 and Menzerna M5 Super Finish (Dry).
Have a nice day ☺️
@@MagicWatchmaking and this dose not get rid of gold plating? and is it difficult to use. As I would love to get into restoring some of my own vintage watches that are gold plated
@@pjsimpkins7624 This process has to be done very carefully. It needs a lot of experience! Or you take the gold plating down and replete it again
What type of oil do you use for jewels. I'm now starting to restore watches and I need to know more about oils (where to use them, which one should I be using depending wether it is a jewel, the mainspring, the crown or the setting-lever mechanism and stuff, etc). Could you please recommend me what type of oil should I use on the different parts? Thank you!!
Hi Eric! I use the oils from Moebius. Their website is very informative and tells you exactly which oil should be used for each part :)
@@MagicWatchmaking thank tou! I will take a look!
My father, RIP, used to wear a Seamaster, it's not working anymore and the face looks damaged... would it be possible to fix it?
Without knowing the damage... I can't tell. Did you ask your local watchmaker?
Omega Seamaster are very good watches.
La pregunta " del millón" cómo decimos en Colombia, si vale la pena restaurar un reloj de los años 60
I can answer this question clearly with YES. It worth every cent. Classic and timeless design, robust, in house movement which can reach COSC specifications and low price 😊 thank you so much for watching
Your videos are really something...
No annoying background music which would take away how well you do this on camera.
Thank you so much for watching, Grant ☺️
Keep up the great work... looking forward to your next video. 👍
Nice video! Well done! Subscribed :D Looks like the case is missing its bezel btw; hope the owner still has it somewhere ;)
Thank you so much for watching ☺️
The watch do not have any bezel
Nice work, are these watches that you fix/restore yours or customers?
Hi Randy, this particular watch was my own! I have featured watches from friends and family on my channel ☺️
Your work is very nice. Please, how much is this watch?
Thank you for watching. I’m sorry the watch is not for sale.
Have a nice day ☺️
Question please, is this a 565 movement ?. Thanks
Yes it is. Thank you for watching ☺️
RThank you for the info, have that movement in aSeamaster Cosmic in the monococe case, so I tend to follow any one working on these caliberes. The one finished up looking better than when it left the factory. So very well done .Cheers
Excelente trabajo felicitaciones !!!
Cómo se te puede contactar para una restauración?
Saludos
Thank you ☺️
I don't offer any customer related services.
I have a watch similar to this but mine has seamaster de ville on the face. Can you tell me what the difference is. Mine is still going after 56 years of good service .
Thank you for watching. I can’t tell the difference 😊
Seamaster Deville was made between 1960-1966. In 1967 the seamaster and Deville became separate watch lines.
Just subscribed, great job
Thank you so much for the support!
not bad condition when it came in, now it is factory fresh again.
It looks truly very nice 😊 thanks for watching
And I thought neurosurgery was complicated. There are more ways to kill a watch than to kill a patient in the average procedure, compared to what goes on here. So many tools, so many small parts, so much to understand and remember, so many delicate operations to master.
Thank you so much for kind words... it's a nice challenge. A lot to analyze and solve ☺️
So is polishing good or bad?
I think it's okay. Thank you for watching ☺️
Warum wurden die Leuchtmittel bei Zeigern nicht erneuert?
Farbunterschied zum Zifferblatt war nicht gewünscht 😊
Dobra robota !
Thank you :)
Ciekawi mnie dlaczego rozbiera się brudny zegarek do wyczyszczenia z zakrytymi palcami?
Good question! I don’t want to get the dirt and bacteria on my finger’s. Thanks for watching 😊
HI GOOD AFTERNOON, I NEED REPAIR OMEGA.
IM FROM TAMPA FLORIDA.

Thank you for watching Luis. Sending the watch over to Austria for repairing didn't worth it. I'm sure you find a good watchmaker near to you. Good luck.
Amazing work!
I would like to get my watch restore by you
If that’s possible ?
