Really glad to see it went to a good home! I had a lot of fun with that thing over the years. Really excited to see where you go with it! Definitely made my day seeing this
Thanks again for selling it to me! It is a blast to ride!
I had a 74 JDX8 with a CCW 440, leaked a little oil but ran great as they were like a mini detroit diesel 2 stroke!
You're going to miss it Nick!
I would love to know what he paid for it as he has it on marketplace for sale. He did a little bit to it to get it to run, but nothing major...
@@JustMe-sb6zt he says it at the end of the video. $840
Love listening to this guy nice and calm, not shouting in a way trying to impress Jo public, nice one buddy
I think you should completely restore this PPT . get everything on it perfect. repaint etc. this is the coolest thing I have seen yet on your channel.
I agree I would love to see that
Wow. What's next? A hyabusa powered space shuttle? Keep em coming. Loving the variety
Just so you know(if you dont already), when the bowl is off the carb you are looking at 2 round disks. Those are welsh plugs and normally you would take those out to clean underneath. Usually there's a passage way under them. They are soft metal and are tap in one use plugs. There can easily be dirt in there
I have one of these sitting in a garage for 40+ years and some parts as my did used to be a dealer for them in PA. They used them at local ski mountains to haul heavy loads up the mountain. Cool to see you work on one because I've thought about taking a stab at getting it running for a long time now.
Wow yeah you need to get that running!
I agree with 2vintage, It will be worth getting it running. Especially if you have spare parts. It's a fun machine with a lot of power.
Well I hope you get it running. If not I'm always looking for oddball vehicles. My last project was a Crosley salesman's traveler. Completely apart up in a garage. Finding the little known vehicles and getting them back up and running is my excitement.
@@beepseatsfindingfoodtreasu8756 Ha that's me too! Even if it's a coffee machine, lol! I have to look up a Crosley. Seems like something interesting. Do you have a video about it?
Yeah you have got to get it up and running
The perfect restoration vehicle. Looking them up gives you some great ideas of what you can do with these. Very cool machine.
I believe my 1972 Scorpion Stinger II 400cc snowmobile has the same motor and carb... what an amazing machine! Very impressed and it seems it would be pretty simple to build new rigs just like it. Thanks for taking us along!
I had a Stinger myself back in the day it was Red with flakes in the paint...I want to say it had a 440 but I can't remember but boys I had fun beating on that thing the one I had was very tippy though you had to watch the turns..
After numerous vintage vehicles it amazes me that you don't just clean and adjust the points as a matter of habit now. You do everything else. ***If it was snow related and manufactured in Quebec then its good.***
It was made for a tropic environment. But yes, many great products produced in quebec. Obviously the majority of the ideas, designs and funds came from Ontario as always and we're still happy to contribute to this day.
I think this is the best vehicle you ever bought for winter. Better than your snow mobiles. Better than that janky hover vehicle. Better than the skid steer! 😂
Can't wait to see a full restoration on this! Lights, some seats, paintjob!
I’m impressed brother, it’s been 6-7 years now and this is the first machine you’ve bought that I’ve never seen or heard of. Awesome!! So glad the last month or so you’ve switched to different machines. I love quads and bikes just as much as you, but it was definitely time to expand knowledge and skill. Hell yeah brother. I’m not sure what Vinny’s first impression was all about though lol.
im from quebec and have been into offroad machines for 30+ years and have never seen one of these machines
super rare, most have probably been destroyed
@@ginomanshit2365 What happened was that the company moved from ValQuartier, Québec to Alberta. Later it was purchased by an American company. By the 1980's there were copies made of these machines like Playcat™ and RaidTrack. Other machines like the TerraJet, the Argo and Honda three wheelers came out too. So there was a lot of competition.
Love the channel, not only for mechanical tips and tricks, but your garage must be an antique warehouse. 299k subs - Congrats! Sponsorships, merchandise?
What a rare machine!! It runs great now!! I can't believe how much compression it has!!!
Does it got a 4-53 2 stroke detroit diesel?
Wow dude ! this is so cool ... My uncle had one of these when i was a kid .. used it to get through his swamp on the property . Flashback for me big time . Lucky find mate . Cheers.
Whoa! Like Curtiss Wright aircraft? That particular company experimented with nuclear powered aircraft not too far from where I live.
Perfect recovery and utility vehicle
Keeper !!!
Dude that looks so cool. I have not seen one of those in 35 years
I love watching your videos . I can never figure out why you don't just back the trailer up to the garage and roll things right into the garage , though.
A comfy bucket seat out of a luxury hot rod..and a pair of adjustable handlebars….
That would make it too easy
Probably can't back up
@@darreng2639 haha...who knows
Usually I need to take a thumbnail for the video before I put it in the garage and start working on it.
probably the coolest machine i have seen in a while. Riding through the land like that is super awesome. Seems like that little thing could go anywhere!
Yeah I couldn't get it stuck. I will have to try taking it in some deep mud next.
It does get bogged down like most machines it gets hung up in the middle the tracks start spinning.
This is one of those projects where I would love for you to tear completely down and rebuild it up. Make it not only run great but look the part.
I miss having Charlie in the videos. Hope he is doing well. Great Video by the way!
When I worked at a Cushman dealer in the '70s they sold the Cushman Tracksters. We serviced Passe Par Tout machines also (pronouced: (pass par too). The Trackster was a nice track vehicle with hydraulic drive units and the strangest horizonal twin 2 stroke. Both pistons fired at the same time.
You should get a big shed for some of your bikes like a 24x40 shed or 30W x 30L x 10H or 22x 25-9 shed or whatever the size you want for the bikes
Working on it!
Nice machine for taking grandkids and dog on a safe tour.
Is there anything you can't fix you pull it off every time you amaze me, brother, and give Vinnie bear a scratch from me 😁👍🏾
What a cool machine. So weird. I can't help but think I seen one on a movie or something. It looks familiar. Like I seen it before.
The PPT was bought by Valquentin Industries LTD in Canada, then sold to Twin Bay Industries Inc. in Elk Rapids, Michigan. They were still being produced into the 1980s. I have two Model PPT-620s which have the wide tracks.
Mine was built as you say by Valquentin industries in ValQuartier Québec, Canada. Mine was built in 1973. Rob Quentin was one of the engineers. He moved to Alberta years later.
So how big of motors did these have? 600cc plus? what would this be like with a Idk street bike engine? Not a hyabusa but just a solid lil 600 cc?
@@jasonchristopher2977 Mine is a one cylinder 14 horsepower Kohler long life.
@@jasonchristopher2977 Just remember that you get to design a real crankshaft-driven cooling fan and cylinder baffling/ducting system that absolutely does not allow the hot air to get into the cold air supply. Fifty years of air cooled engine repair talking here. Motorcycle engines are shit if what you want is low speed power. Better off with a snowmobile engine.
@@billybrand Wow ok. That makes since for the year. I had a 2cyl wisconsin I bought as a teen for a rebuild project. These things are so cool. I bought a argo 8x8 and it had wheels and the owner had put tracks on it. That thing was a beast. Not too fast but it could go everywhere. I also tried to buy a Idk if u know what a log skidder is but it articulates in the middle. This was a tiny fit in full size truck bed sized tractor that did same. Front was engine and rear was seat. Guy wouldn't sell it and when he died it was auctioned off. I've only seen 1 in 40 years. Idk who made it. I love small projects like these. Do you still have it? How'd it hold up if so?
That is a pretty cool find. I don't know what you are going to do with that, but it looks super cool.
What a great find and price! Was good to see the hovercraft too! Can't wait until you delve back into it!
Still trying to find a starter for the hovercraft!
Passepartout is French for skeleton key. This meaning is that with this 'equipped' tank you, the operator is now the key to success.
This thing looks cool Joe.. neva seen anything like it .. carnt wait to c you rideing it
Say it like
Pass the ball
Par 3 golf course
Two.
In French the it means " go anywhere "
The vehicle selection in the last months has been epic.... keep it up
Wow! Nice find. I’d never sell that, clean up and fresh paint.
So cool! Can't believe how fast it is!
Lol Love the hovercraft just setting there. nice Tank it moves well. You do great work
That thing is cool for sure 2vintage. Consider restoring fully restoring it, and/or also consider restomodding it...newer low-back bucket seat, low profile steel cleats on the tracks for more traction, a lightweight firewall between driver and engine, a low profile Lexan snowmobile style windshield, nice headlights and add a small light bar on the hood, a new stainless full exhaust routed to the rear to quiet it down and not have exhaust smoke, make a quick-removeable rear seat and also a quick cargo rack that mounts the same way, paint it nice (maybe camo), etc. With steel cleats on the tracks that thing will go where 4-wheel ATV's can't go without getting stuck...and it sure seems to have plenty of power, the seller said it can tow heavy things so it must have a lot of torque as well. It's a keeper no matter what just because it is a mini tank that is fast and fun to ride/drive.
VINNIE BEAR IS GOING TO BE DOG GONE MAD, I can't wait to see what he thinks 😁😀
Almost 250psi is crazy compression from that little engine! Great video as always 👍
Because the bores are full of oil
maybe the oil you add make the ring more sealed and give you a false reading
@@Evilslayer73 definitely
@@juupa2890 yes that would make it read higher for sure but to be after pulling it over several time with the plugs put still seems like a very high compression engine.
@@MoonShine07 I'd run premium with those numbers until I found out otherwise, twice the compression of my car LOL. Maybe the 2 stroke oil raises the rating.
Very cool machine, you'd think these would have been more popular. First time I've ever seen one. Looked like a blast to drive.
Man what a sick little machine! I love all these cool wierd little finds you get your hands on! I can see why it would be useful as a military machine. Love ya brotha keep up the amazing work; can't wait for the next video!
Edit: 46:12 I was thinking the same thing it is a little loud would probably not be the best recognizance vehicle but
It might scare the shit out of people coming through the jungle though lol
i had to put my ear muffs on listening to it on my computer it was that loud .
Made in Val-Cartier, Quebec (near Quebec City) in the early seventies. Pronounced “pass-par-too” means ‘go-anywhere’ in french. We also call a reciprocating saw (tool) a passe-partout up here in Quebec. 🤘🤘
Wasn't passe partout Phineas Foggs valet in around the world in 80 days?
@@Iaintwoke Yes ! It's really a term used for different things like "multi pass" master key " all terrain " word for word means passes everywhere.
My father got one of these used and got it up and running. This was back in 1980 and I was about 12. I was allowed to drive it when he wasn’t home and it could do reverse wheelies! 😂 I think we took it across water once on trap line. Good memories👍
I've just been looking at these on UA-cam it looks pretty fun if you can get this beast to run 👍🏾
All that thing needs now is a belt fed M249 mounted to the back!
This machine would make a good snow plow. And it's also good for driving on snow, because it has caterpillar tracks. Regards 😀.
Thank you 😀.
Hey just to let you know when you put oil down the cylinders it adds extra compression to the motor because it helps the rings and everything seal better.
This would make a good snow plow!
...now THAT is a nice, little machine!!! Greetz from the Netherlands!
That one definitely needs a built predator 670. 55hp!
If you have difficulty getting up ramps -get one of these.
I knew this was going to be a triple teehee twin cylinder two stroke taint tickler as soon as I saw the two cylinder engine. As soon as he hit the throttle "teeheeheehee!!!". He even said it's up there with his favorite motor to vibe, lol. His wife will never get him to come home now, poor woman
It looks like something you would see in an old James Bond movie! ...cool
Wow you always find such interesting vehicles to work on and share with us. Even Vinny seemed interested in this one.
2vintage you are getting better at this. I started watching you wrench on stuff maybe a couple of months ago and you definitely have gotten better. I've watched similar channels like yours but they don't upload as much.
That little tank works pretty good and looks fun to drive. I'd like to see that hovercraft back up and hovering.
Great job! I'm trying to guess what odd things you don't have... Snowcat and an airboat! LOL
You definitely have some cool machines
well Joe another job well done !!! so what's up with hover craft and dune buggy??
Waiting for a part on the hovercraft. Waiting for snow to melt for dune buggy
I love that you bring back the old good stuff back to life!!! Great job and it looks like you need a big pole barn to build on your property 😆
OH Buddy, that thing is a piece of history, and also a small tank.
I trained in one on of these machines, excellent investment.
I take that this military machine was not used for the element of surprise :)
Wow what you find out there is amazing!
Dang, Joe. That looks like a blast! Thanks for this video!
I have to say that i really enjoy watching you breathe life in to these old odd-ball dogs!👍👍
Great content. Love your videos. They’ve taught me a lot, and in the prosess saved me a bit of money. I look forward to your videos to relax to after a long and stressful day. Thanks for posting.
Think I've seen one of those once, brake clean the hell out of the clutches. You spin a track. You're stuck! Love your new yrailer!!
That jump when the flame hit got me too!!!
You could call it a scout vehicle because it roasts your chestnuts when it backfires . Sweet ride mate , an nice video 👍👍two thumbs up
Very cool piece of history! Good job.....now it's time for a full restoration!
Almost 300k grats joe you deserve it my dude 👍 cool machine never seen one before
Passe Partout, pronounced paspertoo, it means 'all purpose' in Cajun French
Passe partout would be Pass-Par-Too and would mean "goes everywhere". Literal translation "passes everywhere". It would also be Quebec french.
Wow, sounds good and it seems like it has excellent turning for a twin track ! Very nice.
Dude how do you find this shit lmao???? This has to be one of the funnest thing to ride!
Yeah Joe that is awesome 👌
Great video, I live in Montreal Quebec Canada and speak both French and English fluently, and in case anyone is interested, PasseParTout is three separate words that are put together, and has two meanings, one is "go anywhere" and the other meaning is "masterkey".
Joe, That is too cool for sure. I like that machine. I like the history behind it as well. Kudos on getting it running, great job.
Awesome find bud and it's great you got it figured quick and it runs great. I would definitely keep it if I was you for sure
he's not. Its listed on marketplace
this is the coolest thing you've picked up yet! I'd say it's more practical than the hovercraft
That would definitely be a show stopper at a vintage snowmobile gathering. Would love to see what the factory’s cab looks like (and if it can be replicated)!
that looks like so much fun
I did't know how many things were powered by snowmobile engines
Thanks for your videos. I've been watching everytime you put a new video out for a few months now. You are giving me courage to work on a 1991 sportster 1200 I have in my garage. I am not very knowledgeable about this stuff but your videos are great! I wish you lived near me to work on it!!
Was smiling the entire time you were driving it, wish I had one of these back in the 70's
A highschool friend of mines dad was a dealer for them in Flint Michigan... They also raced them and modified one with foam flotation, added small aluminum pieces on the track and a bilge pump and got it to go in water... The one story I vividly remember is when they were stopped by the Michigan state police on the way home from a race event and asked to volunteer to use their " snowmobile" along with about 5- 6 other snowmobilers to rescue someone from a small plane crash way back in the woods in winter. They told the Police they didn't have a snowmobile they had something BETTER... All the Snowmobiles broke down or got blocked by brush or downed trees the PASSE PAR TOUT WENT OVER OR THRU EVERYTHING...The Police were mightly impressed... He had lots of other stories about racing them... I only rode on one once for a demo ride at their shop 4 people in it and went over the top( thru ) a large bush about 4 foot tall impressed the hell out of me. I really wanted one but I was still in HS.
Cool little machine! It would be great here on the south coast... environment very similar to Vietnam. Thanks for bringing us along for the ride! ✌️
I had to rewind the flames shooting out of the carb. a couple times😂😂 you jumped out of your socks!😂😂 I have never seen one of those machines before. It's pretty cool!
You just put oil down it, too. Most likely high comp pistons. Shes gonna be a runner, strong I bet.
Cool! I saw this when it was for sale on marketplace, glad to see it up and running! I've never seen one before, I had to check them out. It'll be great for ice fishing!
Nice. I would love to have one of those, especially after this winter! I was thinking about putting snow tracks on an old skid loader and build something similar to this for next winter 😁 this is much cooler though, great find!!
Joe, that machine is awesome, great for a full resto if money, and parts allow, favorite machine so far.
Pronounced 'pass partoo'. (You do like the weird ones, Joe)... 🇬🇧👍
Very nice!!
Back in the 60s to 90s my great grandfather would have been working on this exact model and other tracked vehicles at a factory in Quebec, glad to see some of you folks like em!
Those my great granfather welded were made by Bombardier, things like the tracked Bombardier B12 and etc..
And by the way, (bombardier was a french company from Quebec) the big sticker on the side says "Go-anywhere" in french
That's some crazy compression 😂
Quite possibly the coolest thing ever on your channel.
I would love to have one 😍, Id probably put bigger and more powerful motor in it and make it so that the motor is in the back side and would make a roll cage for it or something . this machine is awesome!!!
That’s Awesome! 😎 Very Surprised To See How Well It Moves & Yeah 3 Feet Of Snow Wouldn’t Stop The Beast.
Looks mega fun.
Definitely looks fun for tooling around in the snow. As far as a military vehicle goes I’d want to ba as far away from that thing as possible since you can hear it coming from 10 miles away.
I wonder how it would fair in the mud? Probably really good, considering how it operates in the snow. This would be a great back up atv to have on hunting and camping trips. You could easily tow it on a small trailer.Awesome video
WOW, great looking vintage sled. Looked like a motorcycle with a shell, and a fun ride.
that thing is crazy
