Mick is like a kid in a candy shop when Buddy Guy joins them on stage. What a night! Thanks to whoever thought enough to capture this incredible gathering. It's one of legends of the likes that'll never happen again.
8 years later Steve! This was a planned performance, it wasn't impromptu, doesn't make it any less cool though. Cameras set up inside and outside (if you see the full video, you see the Stones arriving at the venue and getting ushered in, Keith and Ronnie had their guitars with them).
This is great. Love to see ole Lefty Dizz up there. He was a "second tier" Chicago bluesman who played all over in the 70's. I used to see him on Lincoln Ave. all the time. Great guy. We shared many a drink together.
Lefty was truly a Chicago blues legend. Never got the kind of National recognition I thought he deserved. At least there is this film to remember him with.
In 1985 or 86 I had taken some UofC classmates to Checkerboard. We had taken a cab but when the music stopped at around 3AM no cabs would come pick us up. Lefty Dizz realized our predicament and we all loaded into his station wagon for a ride back to the old Shoreland Hotel turned into a dormitory. Super musician and humanitarian.
That lounge was in the absolute worst part of Chicago imaginable. The fact that you survived that night to tell the story is pretty incredible in itself. I don't care if Jimi Hendrix rose from the dead to play one night at the Checkerboard, no amount of money would have gotten me to the southside.
Hey Shake...well stated! Like your comment! Got some bad comment me stating that Mick Jagger is just a spoiled nasty ridicolous child, a bad kid- just kick him in his arse!!!
Chicago had an awesome Blues scene in the 70's, 80's and even 90's. I used to frequent the Kingston Mines... in my youth. Heard some amazing music there.

Bullshit, he DID learn from these masters (among others), if it weren't for them he would've played no shite just like J.S. Bach, if it weren't for Johann Ambrosius Bach, his father who taught him, regardless the fact that he was named 'Father of music' and composed over a thousand pieces he did learn from his old man, there's no shame about it. FACT
Ah nobody can SHOW Keith how to play Buddy Guy is the best blues player alive no doubt but you cant teach a master guitarist shit. The stones saved the blues when everyone abandoned these unbelievable musicians for rnr in the early 60s and 70s the stones kept them gigging in the UK. Fact.
Good Lord ..........this was not a planned event if you watched the entire series. The show was all about Muddy Water's and he ASKED the Stones to join him.
I dig Mick but he can't match Junior's intensity. Junior was born to be a bluesman. I believe, though, that Mick was welcome by the Chicago blues gang.
I'm jealous of two things: the people who saw Jesus Christ and who have been in this pub and watched this show ..
You nailed it Marcelo! What a night!
Yh
I'd put my pony on the second. I'd even give a bit of odds re viewing Buddy again.
adrenalina pura
Best show I ever saw was at that bar (the Checkerboard). It was a Lefty Dizz gig with Junior Wells and Buddy Guy sitting in. Wild, wild, wild.
A great piece of music & historic event captured on video. Thankyou.

This is the influence of all the big rock & roll stars.
Buddy Guy . . . .so enjoying playing with Kieth Richards and Ronnie Woods . . . those white boys that helped bring black blues to America . . .👍
This is great. Love to see ole Lefty Dizz up there.
He was a "second tier" Chicago bluesman who played all over in the 70's.
I used to see him on Lincoln Ave. all the time. Great guy. We shared many a drink together.
+Roger Steinbrink Thanks much for the little education on that one!
Best showman in Chicago. Something that never came across in his albums.
Lefty was truly a Chicago blues legend. Never got the kind of National recognition I thought he deserved. At least there is this film to remember him with.
@@ansonjackson6254 Couldn't agree more. And the man knew how to dress!

Muddy, Buddy and Junior! Wow-what a group! Super fantastic! Best when the Stones are out of the picture.
Hey Shake...well stated! Like your comment! Got some bad comment me stating that Mick Jagger is just a spoiled nasty ridicolous child, a bad kid- just kick him in his arse!!!
Yeah, Mick is is a child next to the real men of blues..this is men's music , not children's musuc
@@zoilacruz2036 never seen someone write “anyone’s music” that way before
Exactly! Mick had to move aside, and on off of the stage when the thorough bred - blood, sweat, tears, and real soulful legends appeared. 😂

Good Lord ..........this was not a planned event if you watched the entire series.

Checkerboard Lounge on the South side of Chicago
best
The best way to spoil a gig is to put Mick jumping around like a clown, what an ego this guy has...
I admire Muddy being such a polite guy...
+Richard Wolter Ni que fuera Mick Jagger

Thanks for your comments! I'm smiling...
What? Muddy, Buddy they all appreciated Mick as a young stud.
I dig Mick but he can't match Junior's intensity. Junior was born to be a bluesman.
