FSU fan here. We play both schools. UM will win unless Mario has to make a game breaking decision which he’s sure to get wrong. UM has more talent and is capable of playing excellent football. Strong O and D. UF, not so much.
UF has brought in a lot of experienced talent this offseason, especially on the defensive side of things! I wouldn’t sleep on the gators especially it being in the swamp

Everyone talking Cam Ward but the real factor in this game is how will UF OL deal with Miami’s deep and very talented front 7 defense. Will UF QB have any time and can they run the ball? UF OL was terrible last season.
On defense can UF put any pressure on Ward? Miami OL is also deep and talented.
Mario has totally reconstructed this roster from the trenches out.

Cam Ward threw for 25TD's and 3700 yds last season at WSU. He played behind an average (at best) OL and no weapons. Averaging 40 Pass attempts per game is a lot
Canes OL is far superior and will give Cam the time he needs to make the throws. The run game Miami has will take the pressure off of Ward and control the tempo. When Cam does run, more often than not, it will be by design versus having to improvise and run for his life.
Cristobal will find a way to fuck this game up.

The car on the Napier experiment is already on 3 wheels and a spare. Wheels are coming off week 1.
Legit, there's no chance they're fielding a team that can go over .500 this year. It was serious bad luck to have this in year 3, but maybe navigating a bit better last year gives Napier some wiggle room for what he's facing now. Officially 9 ranked opponents, lost Ettiene to Georgia, got less competitive from year 1 to year 2, book-ended last season losing to teams missing their starting QBs. It was a mess. They may very well beat Miami, but there's no doubt in my mind that they're going 0-5 to end the year. Even if FSU is having a down year, the previous 4 games are gonna kill their spirit. All that preceded by a likely split (at best) in the Tenn/Kentucky lineup.....yeah.
If they do lose to Miami there's no reason to believe they can win more than 3 games next year.

UF will be significantly improved upfront both sides of the ball and with tons of speed at skilled positions. Graham is not flashy, but will manage the game very effectively. A close game will favor the Gators at home. Gators by a touchdown.

Lmao this preview is terrible! Gators have no offense outside of one guy. Their o line is cheeks! Miami’s oline is pretty good. Miami’s receivers are good to go. Returning the two best receivers in the ACC who had a wounded TVD who couldn’t read defenses to save his life. “Whoever can get after the QB” lmao. Miami has proven they can and have Ruben Bain and Kiko who each had 8 sacks last year and Mesidor had 8 the previous season and Kelly 7. Lizards have no chance.

I'm going to be interested to see what Ward's play looks like with an actual offensive line, and a real run game. People point out he has similar stats to TVD last year, so don't expect a big upgrade, but there's a hell of an asterisk surrounding those numbers. Several actually. Wazzou's top running back last year had 321 yards with a 3.6 average. Miami had 4 backs with more yards, all averaging around 5-6 yards per carry. Ward was also sacked 38 times, Miami QBs a total of 16 times, and that's with the knowledge that TVD at least is a less mobile QB.
What I'm most interested in seeing is how Ward makes the adjustment to having an actual offensive line, and actual running help. Do those extra carries affect his rhythm? Does he still try to play hero ball in an offense where he won't need to? For that matter did needing to play hero ball elevate his skills in a way that won't be present on a team with better talent at every position? Also I don't think Dawson ever got confident enough in any QB last year to actually use his playbook. Will having Ward finally allow him to run an actual Air Raid offense? It seems likely to be setting up for a special year, but man the pain of the last 20 years is hard to ignore, heh.
