It's not just foxes who steal lambs in the UK/Ireland, badgers sometimes do as well, they will rip open the lamb's stomach to drink the milk inside, crows, rats, birds of prey, domestic & feral cats and domestic dogs also prey on young lambs. The fox is not alone in this.
Good video, Stephen; it's gratifying to see just how feasible it is to cull foxes cleanly and humanely, by shooting, in the absence of hunting with dogs. I have just two questions, if I may: what type of gun do you use; also, what type of ammo? Thanks!
Nice shooting mate. Lucky to be given a second chance. It may have been the suppressor but we'll never know in Australia because we can't use them. First shot or bust over here.
Here in the US the rules are about suppressor are ridiculous. I have one on my air rifle with no questions asked. If I want one for a "firearm", it's hundreds of dollars in fees and years of waiting for the permit before you can buy one. I'm a little jealous of our friends in the UK.
@@alexriddles492 . Well Alex here in Australia suppressors are not even a pipe dream for the average shooter/hunter. It's the most ridiculous situation and one I can't see changing.

That fox looked injured to me (lame maybe? ) perhaps why it was taking the lambs. I've seen a fox take a lamb as it was being born, the ewe is powerless to protect it in it's lambing state when it is down on the ground. A fox will sieze it's chance and pull it out before a ewe has the chance to defend it.
Have any British/Irish farmers considered the use of livestock guardian dogs? Many ranchers in the US are turning to these dogs to guard livestock round the clock from predators a hell of a lot more dangerous than foxes, loose domestic dogs, cats and crows. These dogs are almost semi feral, and live alongside the livestock out in the fields, chasing off all sorts of predators, bears, bobcats, mountain lions, coyotes etc. I'm not saying this doesn't have to happen, but there are ways farmers can learn to coexist with predators as well as have to control them. It's impossible to have a human with a gun watching over every single sheep field, but these dogs are bred for exactly that, and best of all, you only have to pay them in food and shelter. Look them up x
