  • On the Swedish island of Ven, hares reach pest proportions. They have no natural predators. There are no foxes on the island so, every year, the islanders hold giant hare shoots to keep down numbers. Charlie Jacoby takes part.

In the U.K. hares are down by 97% since 1950. I know landowners who allow rabbit hunting but totally prohibit hare shooting. Sustainablilty is priority

Many factors for there uk decline since that date, hunting them is almost an insignificant factor, throwing a fact out with no thought to why beyond the usual hunting remark. There was a reason coursing worked, selective harvest.

The Hare population is down because landowners are shooting them to stop lads hunting them with dogs. I have heard that the hares are almost gone in areas they used to have coursing.

Hare shooting is a very challenging and enjoyable pursuit. It’s nice to see Rob from Moroka 30 involved in such a great shoot flying the Aussie flag. Its grouse(good) to see that us Aussies and the Poms carry over our competitive nature from the 🏏 field to the hunting field. My mother cooks up a mean feast of hare, duck, pork fat in a chilli sauce with an Italian flavour over a lovely polenta that melts in your mouth. Thanks Fieldsports Channel for another fantastic presentation. Cheers, Rob from “Downunder”.

No sport in shooting hares. They are for dogs. In the past ive seen hares run rings around dogs and they live for that day.

hares are for lurchers and greyhounds and whippets daylight coursing. not blasted by a shotgun or blinded by the lampers.very few hares now where i live in south beds.shooting of hares needs to be restricted to a season and banned where the hares population has crashed

You are bang on 100% if hares are to be kept under control it should be by dogs and nothing else, laws in Britain are a joke ( I know this isn’t taking place in Britain) they have stopped hare coursing yet they are trying to introduce wolves into the north of Scotland to control the red deer population and also lynx to control roe deer, Packham and his cronies piss me off

Hares run up hill not because of avoiding eagles talons the numpty, it’s because it can cause them to tumble over if running at high speeds down hill and not such a pest control day it’s hunters paying good money coming over to the U.K to shoot hare

Thats my dream right there. Here in Kentucky your only allowed to kill 4 if your hunting alone and 8 if your in a party. Although I dont think I would enjoy cleaning all those rabbits but it would deffinately be put to good use here. Id would thoroughly enjoy plenty rabbit hearts, lives, and many soups, stews, roasted, and fried rabbits for days. Great video.
