Always awesome to see people smiling despite bad weather. I think the 6.5 is a capable caliber. It's not a magic bullet. As you said Jason, deer can run when hit by just about any caliber. It's about shot placement, knowing your limits, your equipment's limit, and your quarry. A little luck on occasion never hurts. Of course luck is defined by most as opportunity meeting preparation. Great meeting you all at the BSS2020. Keep the great content coming.
Nice one Jason, great vid, gives folks the reality of the soft Irish weather. I've been out for our last three weekend storms and each time took animals off the hill, great times to test your gear. Great to see you using unmoderated rifles, its nice to carry a light mountain rifle.
Great show. I think 6.5 Creedmoor is good enough for hunting out to 400-ish meters. It isn't a super heavy hitting, drop them on the spot caliber but it's more than adequate. Being right in between .308 and .243 but with better ballistics than both of them its ideal if you want one rifle for PRS and stalking. If you are buying a rifle "purely for hunting" and you maybe want to shoot bigger game like red deer and sambar deer from time to time you are probably better off with 7mm rem mag, 308 or 30 06.
Great videography Jason,..and the shooting was spot on as well. I, just last week, bought a Mossberg Patriot Predator in 6.5 Creedmoor, and it's good to see this video now,..timely indeed. You guys have the rain,..here where I am in Eastern Canada, this is going to turn to a snow storm tonight into tomorrow. Ah well, this is winter,..so might as well be used to by now. Thanks for this good bit of video.
Great video Jason! Really looking forward to next vid. Still struggling to decide between 6.5 cree to. 270 so would be great to see more from it specially on a bigger stag even a red
Very enjoyable video. Shot a 140lb white tail here in the US with a 6.5 CREEDMOOR hand loaded with a 140 gr LAPUA NATURALIS solid copper bullet. Shot was about 200 yards. She ran maybe 25 yards. What I like is the lack of recoil and of course the excellent ballistics. Would love to return home one day and do a bit of stalking in that lovely Irish weather!
Great show lads, good old Irish weather what's not to like. Very informative, I'm not a fan of the 6.5 x55 and have seen many fallow cover ground after being perfectly shot broadside, hitting vitals. 7mm08 for me, thou this has shown a much better side to the 6.5. Thanks for all your efforts.
Lovely to see the show back again Jason. If the rain and wind ever stops will you do a feature on shooting sporting clays to help us improve performance on game/ducks? 👍
Great to see a real world test of the creedmor. Sika are physically the toughest animal to knockdown in ireland (with exception to the feral goat maybe). Personally im turned against using the 6.5 for hunting after seeing both animals run with good shot placement. Reminds me to much of my old 6.5 swede. If you want to try it on some big feral goats give me a shout jayson 🖒
Guys well done. That much gear for a sell filmed hunt in atrocious conditions is really an outstanding effort. Kudos for how many times you would have had to wipe the camera lens. I"m not sure 6.5 creedmoor is any better than a 308Win though but hey you can only find out by trying.
Thank you! It's funny, I've never been a fan of the .308, I feel there's too much jumpy recoil for what you get. The CM is so nice to shoot that you forgive some of its shortcomings.
I dont really understand the fuss about the 6.5 cree, since it does nothing performance wise different than 6.5x55 or 260 rem. In actuality you can get more max velocity out of a 260 than a cree.
It's nicer to shoot than the Swede, shorter action and same velocity for less powder. I think the biggest issue with the 260 was when it was released it was nearly identical to the 7mm08 there wasn't the 6.5 long range craze like was when the CM came on the scene.
Virginia hunter here. It just kills me to see you using suppressors as a matter of course when they are being attacked by the anti's here and the hoops we have to jump through just to get one in the States! Killed 4 whitetail this past fall with the 6.5 Creedmoor up to 345 meters and none moved from where they were standing using 140 grain ELDM handloads.
Believe me Dougs, around these parts there are quite a few hoops to be jumped through in order to get the Rifle to put a suppressor on. no second amendment here. good luck.
Edward Sheridan .243 is one of my favourites. The ultimate all rounder really until you get into the really big animals. Carly is about to apply for one.
Yes mate, the packing grease was still on the rifle and that may have been the cause of it. After that wet day I cleaned it and there was a serious amount of crap came out of everywhere. I should have given it a scrub first but rifles are just tools to me and I really don’t look after them well enough.
Once again a brilliant show. There's just something better about field sports Ireland that field sports Britain just doesn't have. Great watch
Thanks Darren!

Yes it is so nice to have a light rig. I usually have a much heavier setup but this little Savage is a peach for the mountain.
great video well done
Thanks Jason. Love the channel. Know you've been to down to NZ. The 6.5's also work on Tahr. cheers, and looking forward to the next installment.
Thank you! When I go back I reckon I'll take my .270 though :)
@@jasondoyle6061 Another good choice. cheers :)

Top class again Jason putting in the work. Exciting educational films. 👍😁
Thank you sir.
Once again Jason excellent, only had 10 rounds through the new Bergara 6.5 and things look very promising.
That's good to hear. Hope it goes well for you!
Very enjoyable film again.
Another great show, Jason brilliant bit of work on your own.... Fieldsports team are by far the best👍
Keep up the great work 😉
High praise John! Thank you.
Great show once again Jason!!!

Great work gents ,please keep it up
Nice work boys.
Great video Jason! Really looking forward to next vid. Still struggling to decide between 6.5 cree to. 270 so would be great to see more from it specially on a bigger stag even a red
There's a big gap between those two calibres, my money would still go on the .270.
@@jasondoyle6061 thanks for advice Jason. Keep up the good work. Hopefully 1 day you could take me out to shoot my first Sika
Class video once again Jason, and nice shots for the two of you.
Thanks Wayne.
Another great one Jason keep em coming 👍

great vid in extreme conditions
excellent video , you can certainly pick the weather . slight miscalculation on the wind speed methinks , good shooting
Yea it was pretty wild. Some nice sheltered spots as well though.
Excellent video me olde 😉
Lovely to see the show back again Jason. If the rain and wind ever stops will you do a feature on shooting sporting clays to help us improve performance on game/ducks? 👍
Thanks Mark. Not sure I'm the nest man to do that kinda film to be honest, need a lot of improvement myself!
@@jasondoyle6061 You are too modest! What about the Zoli?
@@markbutler1616 Zoli?
@@jasondoyle6061 Feck! Rizzini, sorry Jason ☹️
That was just for a one off show and I had to hand it straight back. I am considering buying a Rizzini in the summer though. See how funds are.
Another great vid....just not enough of them Jason! 😉
Hoping to get in to hunting in Ireland at some point in the future. Thanks for the channel. Can learn a lot here.

Totally agree with you Glen on the Swede. The only decent Sika round I found was the 120 norma.

6.5 cree can accommodate longer bullet better cause of the longer neck in a short action that's it.
I thought we have harsh conditions here in Finland but that looks like a really challenging weather! ;)
That weather looked atrocious. What a beautiful black stag you shot there though, I am sure that in the end it was worth it.
You should try that gun on a few grass fed red stags here in Mayo or Leitrim, might have a bit of a follow up
I’m from Ireland 🇮🇪
u r the luckiest man a live can i join u there???
Ian thinking of getting a 243 for shooting Fallow and roe do think that calibre is good enough
11 min and 30 sec on the reload that rifle fails to extract the empty case, you can see it still in the chamber.

Great effort. Jacket details please.
Max 10 it’s a Ridgeline evolution
So Jason which would your money be on 6.5 creedmoor or the .243

What bipod is on the rifle? Cheers 👍
Is it just me or was there a failure to extract on that last stag? Great video all the same, keep up the good work- thumbs up from NZ
Not quite sure what you mean by that. Failure to bring the deer home?
@@jasondoyle6061 The spent casing didn't pop out at @11:30

Such a shame there isn't any public land in Ireland north or south. More who ye know than what ye know unfortunately.
I just see Hornady
