April 19th 2014........We had just brought my newborn baby girl home from the hospital....mom was sleeping and I was on feeding duty. I chose some music to lull her to sleep. This was the first DT song she ever heard, and still her favorite to this day. Thanks for the memories boys.
Lyric: At this moment words fail me And my vision's unclear Blind to the truth Like hands reaching out in the darkness I can't stop the world from turning around Or the pull of the moon on the tide But I don't believe that we're in this alone I believe we're along for the ride I believe we're along for the ride Through the gift of surrender I'm embracing the fight Breaking the code There's clarity on the horizon I can't stop the world from turning around Or the pull of the moon on the tide But I don't believe that we're in this alone I believe we're along for the ride I believe we're along for the ride I will not live under a shadow of fear Never be crippled by chaos and doubt Fall prey to your madness I am not shattered Out of the ashes I rise Knowing that nothing is stronger than faith Finding hope in our hopeless lives I can't stop the world from turning around Or the pull of the moon on the tide But I don't believe that we're in this alone I believe we're along for the ride I can't stop the world from turning around Or the pull of the moon on the tide But I don't believe that we're in this alone I believe we're along for the ride I believe we're along for the ride I believe we're along for the ride
At this moment words fail me And my vision's unclear Blind to the truth Like hands reaching out in the darkness [Chorus:] I can't stop the world from turning around Or the pull of the moon on the tide But I don't believe that we're in this alone I believe we're along for the ride I believe we're along for the ride Through the gift of surrender I'm embracing the fight Breaking the code There's clarity on the horizon [Chorus:] I can't stop the world from turning around Or the pull of the moon on the tide But I don't believe that we're in this alone I believe we're along for the ride I believe we're along for the ride I will not live under a shadow of fear Never be crippled by chaos and doubt Fall prey to your madness I am not shattered Out of the ashes I rise Knowing that nothing is stronger than faith Finding hope in our hopeless lives [Chorus:] I can't stop the world from turning around Or the pull of the moon on the tide But I don't believe that we're in this alone I believe we're along for the ride I can't stop the world from turning around Or the pull of the moon on the tide But I don't believe that we're in this alone I believe we're along for the ride I believe we're along for the ride I believe we're along for the ride
This song sounds x 1000 times better when they perform in live. I fell in love with it after seeing how much soul LaBrie puts into it when he sings it. Amazing.
I have been fortunate enough to watch them perform. They are proof of something I strongly believe in: The mark of a real musician is that they are even better live than in their recordings.
I was in a depressive spiral, then I listened to this. "I will not live under a shadow of fear, never be crippled by chaos and doubt, fall prey to your madness..." The depression isn't gone, but I've stopped crying my eyes out.
I've been alternating between this album, Awake, Scenes From a Memory and Six Degrees. This band is so amazing. Musically superior and lyrically profound. This is one of 2 bands that I've bought every album and supported. Wow. I can't wait for the 2nd leg of this tour. Platinum VIP ticket for sure, I have to meet these guys and shake their hands.
This song should be a comfort for those suffering. It is for myself. Covid, or mental illness, depression, anxiety, whatever demon you fight. This track is a clear shining star in DT's catalog.
This album aged so well In my humble opinion DT is their greatest record they put this decade, and damn all instances from A Dramatic Turn Of Events to D/T are great in their own way. You may say they recycle a lot, but the arrangements, the heavyness or melody they create are unique in terms of album integrity. For example you can easily recognise from what album is a random song given.
A wonderful blend of progressive elements and simple songwriting. One of my favorites on the album! Also, I'm a sucker for a fat, huge square wave lead. Jordan Rudess should pull that solo patch out a lot more! :)
simple song writing? facepalm. justin bieber is simple song writing... miley cyrus, lady gaga, what ever you kids listen to,.. is simple song writing. dream theater is one of those bands that go out of the line of simple song writing and has amazing guitar and keyboard solos.
oldGnRrocks1 Don't talk to me like I'm a clueless brat. This song is in line with a lot of Dream Theater's other ballads; very simple compared to many of their instrumentals and 15 minute+ epics. I know what Dream Theater is about, don't speak to me like I don't. Also, there is nothing wrong with "simple" songs.
oldGnRrocks1 Yeah what's wrong with "simple song writing"? I'd also consider this song pretty "simple" to what DT usually do but is it important in the quality of the listening experience? Absolutely not. AS long as the song is fun to hear... Unlike most of the pop music that we have today...
At this moment words fail me And my vision's unclear Blind to the truth Like hands reaching out in the darkness I can't stop the world from turning around Or the pull of the moon on the tide But I don't believe that we're in this alone I believe we're along for the ride I believe we're along for the ride Through the gift of surrender I'm embracing the fight Breaking the code There's clarity on the horizon I can't stop the world from turning around Or the pull of the moon on the tide But I don't believe that we're in this alone I believe we're along for the ride I believe we're along for the ride I will not live under a shadow of fear Never be crippled by chaos and doubt Fall prey to your madness I am not shattered Out of the ashes I rise Knowing that nothing is stronger than faith Finding hope in our hopeless lives I can't stop the world from turning around Or the pull of the moon on the tide But I don't believe that we're in this alone I believe we're along for the ride I can't stop the world from turning around Or the pull of the moon on the tide But I don't believe that we're in this alone I believe we're along for the ride I believe we're along for the ride I believe we're along for the ride

One of my favorite Dream Theater songs to date, very nicely done. Also, it seems the new Mike has settled in nicely, and I think he'll only get better. Now onto Illumination Theory...
Mike Portnoy was my favourite member of the band.. I didn't think the band would ever recover. How foolish I was. They are BETTER than Ever! Long live DT!
It seems the main theme of DT12 is "Surrender" you hear it referenced in 3 songs this one, Surrender to reason and the final of the epic illumination theory "Surrender,Trust and Passion" its like the whole album is telling a story and the suite illumination theory ultimately resolves it.
Hi guys, dear Mike are You ready again? Stay "awake" and make we "dream"!! Please touch our hearts beacause we have 100 "degrees of inner turbulence"!! Mike, by You we want "a scene from our memory"!! And "walk beside us"!! Don't forget "the answer lies within"!! Mike stay "awake".........."wait for sleep"!! We don't want a "panik attack" without You!! This a "night terror"..........welcome back in dreams Family my dear Mike!! Don't go away anymore, otherwise our "spirits will carriera on"!! That's OK we are "finally free"!!!!!!!!!!...........John, Mike, JohnM, James but last but not least Jordan that You be blessed in "eternity"!! With love, Peter The SilentMan...........
I love the first part of this song, but I feel it is unecessarily cluttered and the drums are too complex. I think it would have been best as an acoustic song. The metal interjections and syncopations sound mechanical and take away from the softness the song should have,
I can't stop the snare drum from sounding like crap or the weird, awkward groove in the verse But I still believe that this song's pretty good I've heard better and I've heard much worse

This song is a piece of art, that bass and piano solo at the end is incredible, the entire song is amazing.
Lyric:
At this moment words fail me
And my vision's unclear
Blind to the truth
Like hands reaching out in the darkness
I can't stop the world from turning around
Or the pull of the moon on the tide
But I don't believe that we're in this alone
I believe we're along for the ride
I believe we're along for the ride
Through the gift of surrender
I'm embracing the fight
Breaking the code
There's clarity on the horizon
I can't stop the world from turning around
Or the pull of the moon on the tide
But I don't believe that we're in this alone
I believe we're along for the ride
I believe we're along for the ride
I will not live under a shadow of fear
Never be crippled by chaos and doubt
Fall prey to your madness
I am not shattered
Out of the ashes I rise
Knowing that nothing is stronger than faith
Finding hope in our hopeless lives
I can't stop the world from turning around
Or the pull of the moon on the tide
But I don't believe that we're in this alone
I believe we're along for the ride
I can't stop the world from turning around
Or the pull of the moon on the tide
But I don't believe that we're in this alone
I believe we're along for the ride
I believe we're along for the ride
I believe we're along for the ride

Dude, I can't stop listening to this song! I love it! My uncle loves Dream Theater, so I listen to them with him.
I love the guitar riffs starting at 1:20
Petrucci is a force
Petrucci is a god
4:02 I LOVE Jame's backing vocals starting here!
Gotta love that Moog-sounding synth solo at 2:58 I wish Jordan would do that more often.
2:24 Love this part! Very powerful, a musical battle cry- DT at its best.
ikr? One of their most memorable riffs ever
metal as fuck!
This song sounds x 1000 times better when they perform in live. I fell in love with it after seeing how much soul LaBrie puts into it when he sings it. Amazing.
I absolutely agree!
I have been fortunate enough to watch them perform. They are proof of something I strongly believe in: The mark of a real musician is that they are even better live than in their recordings.
A song that makes you forget the world around you
So beautiful...

long live Dream Theater
My favorite song of this album...
This song is also my favorite of this album.

Now THAT is a stunning cover photo
Everything in life is an integral part of our life transformation my friends.
This song should be a comfort for those suffering. It is for myself. Covid, or mental illness, depression, anxiety, whatever demon you fight. This track is a clear shining star in DT's catalog.
Keyboard Solo has a psychedelic feel to it.
tributo a keith emeson
I just love the Mangini grove - so brilliant
3:00 Dat Bass! :)
"Or the pull of the moon on the tide" sung by James is one of the smoothest sounding things I've ever heard
Prob the most underrated songs from DT.
lol
I love jordan's solo here
Reminds me a bit of Lucky Man from Emerson, Lake and Palmer :).
Its much better if kevin moore make a solo in that song
Amazing ballad and synth solo! AWESOME!
great song from great album and from Greatest band on the Earth!
For me, Jordan's solo stands as a tribute to Keith Emerson. This song was released years before Keith passed, so I can only hope he heard it.
This album aged so well

Dystance over time is a little better
@@nachomenares ok boomer
@@Quicky3What do you mean, that album is *newer* than this.
1:20 is still my favorite part :) , Good Job JP ^_^
till 1:41 ! Spot on =)
Vitor Garcia well, until the end
MrMetalbarD yeah, mine too
I love this song, reminds me Beneath the Surface.
Must be the exact same timbre in the keyboard solo.
Exactly
There are a few numbers of people who can understand DT.
Because those people love their ow soul too much.❤❤❤ For DT

Underrated post
***** Fitting, considering the underrated band he commented on.

zajebisty kawałek...świetnie melodyjnie dobrany
DT é fantástico!
Concordo plenamente amigo!! Pena que aqui no Brasil poucos dão valor...
great song!!!Love DT!
I saw them play this song live yesterday at the Tower Theater! They are absolutely amazing!!!!
i want this picture so much ): (on a great quality)
Beautiful! One of my favourite DT songs
dream theater is the epitome of peace where nothing is there except the fear of death ❤️❤️
Just unbelievable such an amazing band like this only do 600 k views on UA-cam music industry sucks
That keybord solo is like Beneath the Surface 2.0
The entire song is like Beneath the Surface 2.0 lol. Decent album, but this track was a blemish.
@@arathar24l a blemish? how can?
incredible picture....
one of my favorites
This song is too beautiful 💜🔥
2013 version of "Beneath the Surface", but to me that song has a feeling that couldn't be matched...
While I am not crazy about the ELP section, this is a beautiful song. Love the vocal.
The Spirit Carries On of DT13
you'll never match the classics though
The best melody from DT I have heard !!
Fantastic song.
Best underated dream theater's song
Just simply AMAZING, just heard them for the very first time today. Modern “ever green” musical history. Thank you!
It seems the main theme of DT12 is "Surrender" you hear it referenced in 3 songs this one, Surrender to reason and the final of the epic illumination theory "Surrender,Trust and Passion" its like the whole album is telling a story and the suite illumination theory ultimately resolves it.
The best band af all !
2:23... So beautiful and true...
I have a few of DT's albums and this is one of the better, if not the best of the songs I have of theirs. Me likey. :)
Ooooh, What a Lucky Man..... HE WAS !
This is really great and works perfectly as an interlude seguing into Illumination Theory.
in hindsight it does sound somewhat cheesy but it clicks perfectly with my emotionz

Amazing song!
+Lynx Antares Makes me think introspectively, and outward too...into space. So thought provoking. Love Petrucci's guitar work so much too.
The intro reminds me of Close to the Edge by Yes, awesome! :D
perfect.. amazing song!
Idk why dt isn't too famous ?!! 665k views?!! Really?!!!
if you can play as well as Dream Theater, then throw your stones. otherwise just listen and learn.
this song is.... bad ass!!!
