Patoli | Rice and Jaggery Dumplings with Turmeric Leaves | Konkani Recipe

  • Happy Independence Day to all Indians. Happy Mother Mary's Feast too. On this day a traditional sweet is prepared by using turmeric leaf as a covering which is steamed, this gives a very good flavour to it. The jaggery used can be sugarcane jaggery or palm jaggery also called Goa jaggery.
Enjoy the recipe of patoli cooked in an old steamer vessel.

You always go into detail, and one can understand everything that to say. You remind me of my Mother. She made wonderful queen cakes when we were little. They were big in a shape of a star. As always you know being children, one is not enough. So she would put them way way up on the shelf where we could never reach. Bless her she died when I was only 25 years old. But I was 4 years only when she made them right to the age of 6.

Hi Aunty, I just love watching your videos. They bring back so much nostalgia and sweet memories. And even sweeter than the food, is you personally. The way you teach cooking, in the correct traditional way with such a motherly touch. God bless you abundantly.

Aunty Florence, I wish I was there. You show everything in detail. You are one in a million. If I were in Goa, I would definitely ask you to make some Goan sweets for me to take back. My Grandmother who used to make all these scrumptious goods for us. Since she died we are just drulling at the mouth when we see ladies like you Aunty, make them. I'm so glad that you are keeping the tradition alive and well.
