    You’ve really articulated how I feel about the EQA having had it for two years. It’s made me such a sensible driver because I can’t help but relax and enjoy the drive. Driving in the EQA on the country roads is like a meditation.

      @@jaredebeling1412 I’ve had it since July 2021. Through the seasons 200 miles is the max range @ about 3 miles per KWh. This was the first EQA out there was no + model.
      This is more than enough for my needs. Charge at home always. Or if on a road trip I make sure the hotel/airbnb has a charger.

    My wife and I, in South Africa, took the AMG variant for a test drive of 257 km. The trip was along the N2 motorway from George to a small sea side village called Natures Valley. The route consists mainly of sections of road at speed limits of 80 km/h and 100 km/h. Initially I set it to eco mode and after the first stop it remained in comfort mode. We had an average 15.7kwh/100km. The onboard system showed that we could still go a further 163 km's. This means we could have topped out at 420km's on a full charge. The route consists predominantly of coastal uphills and downhills. What was really impressive was not having to touch the brake pedal on the very sharp twisty downhill coming into Natures Valley and simply utilising the throttle pedal / accelerator and regeneration facility to control the vehicle. This vehicle really gives one a feeling of a 'pleasant' driving experience. I do have all the photographs of the display panel to prove the above.

    Nice review, the interior / build quality and available packages like heated AND vented seats + a trailer hook did get me. I love driving an Electric car. I own an Electric Smart since 7 years now, So I ordered yesterday an EQA 350 and will get rid of my BMX x3 M40i. Which is a fantastic car either, but in an other way. ;-) Just subscribed to your channel. Regards Alex

    Lovely car, but will only fit a mid-size suitcase in this way, not a full size bag (77-82cm). Took my suitcase on the test drive and dealer was a little embarrassed. If you have to take three people to the airport, get an uber or a Skoda Enyaq. If two of you for a two week trip, you would need to lower the seats. The dealer declined to drive with us as they did not want to be uncomfortable in the rear for an hour. They also will not retrofit 18" tyres to the higher trims despite the loss in efficiency. On a 24C day in normal driving (mix urban and A roads) I did 3.7mi/kwh which was impressive. Also the dash was quite frustrating. I had to position my seat to suit the instrument panel, not for comfort/safety. The wheel would block the instrument cluster even after adjustment, and suffered from horrific glare and reflections and is not really angled for the driver. Once you get the hang of the two control sides on the wheel it is very easy, but overwhelming in first 30 minutes. The driver cluster can give you multimedia, trip info and nav all at once as it has three zones which is great. I recommend you get an anti-glare screen protector for the displays....and the driver assist package for £1500. Dealers trying to push the AMG which is just a pricier trim and doesn't add anything significant.

    The AMG line get the style up over the Mustang and the Q4 E-tron I think. Also Mercedes are just more classy, but that is just my opinion 😊. Would have loved a battery of 75KWh in the standard model.

    The boot smaller than a MG ZS, Driving dynamics same as MG yet £16,000 more expensive that is almost 50% more expensive than the MG.
    Sorry I know badge snobbery comes into play, but EV's are too bloody expensive to start with - for no reason, other than they can get away with it.
    The Dacia Spring - not currently planned for UK,as they claim additional changes to make RHD etc - is on sale in China and India (in RHD funnily enough) at £6046.76 OTR badged as a Renault KZ-E or Tata Nexon, yet Europe gets the Poverty Pack badge at £22,500 ( France does give £7,500 grant) This is how the common man will be taken off the roads.

      Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. The car went back to MBUK so we weren't able to do this. It is always a bit tricky to try and do everything in the time that we get with the cars, so that is why we just use the WLTP figures and don't put them through any independent verification test of our own. On saying that, I have done a range test of the Audi e-tron Sportback, so if you want to know how that did, check out that video on the channel.

    Thank you for a lovely smooth review of a lovely smooth car! Did the model you drove have optional adjustable dampers or anything like that, to achieve the smooth ride? Would the AMG models have a harder ride. Strangely on the Arval website that I have access to the AMG model is slightly cheaper to lease than the Sport but I would not want to risk a harder ride after all the good things you said about the Sport model you drove. Regards and thanks again for a great review Gary

    Is this slightly smaller than the other two - if so the lack load capacity is hardly surprising and maybe the ride quality is down to it not having enormous rims and cycle tyres - what is the obsession? I think your reviews have become the best and most considered - having benefited by not trying to be gimmicky and 'funny' - thanks.

      Thank you for taking the time to watch and to comment so complimentary. The fact it was on 18-inch alloys certainly helped the ride quality, which I am all for. Size-wise, it is a touch smaller, but it is in their market space, so therefore needs to be mentioned.

    I have a Q4 and a colleague has an EQC, I can say first hand that physically those two are more comparable than a Q4 & EQA

    • @AutoEV
      @AutoEV  3 роки тому +1

      Thank you for watching, and taking the time to comment. Perhaps physically they are, however, price-wise they don't. The EQC competes in the class above, so therefore has to be considered against the larger Audi e-tron, Jaguar I-Pace and forthcoming BMW iX3. We always factor in the manufacturer's market positioning when comparing any cars, and who and what they see as their natural competitors. In this case, the EQA is up against the Q4, Mustang and Lexus as we suggest.

    I owned a Mercedes CLA shooting brake with the same interior and now own a Volvo XC40 (T5 Recharge). Recently I have driven a Audi Q4 for a day. I disagree with your comments on interior. For me the Audi interior was the best, by far. The quality of the Audi interior, materials and finish is better than the Volvo and Mercedes. If I am honest, your opinion about the Mercedes seems a bit biased. I think the negative as range and space is incorrectly compensated with your interior experience.

    • @AutoEV
      @AutoEV  3 роки тому +4

      @Jeffrey thank you for watching and for your comments. I found the interior plastics on the Audi disappointing lower down the centre console, although the rest of the interior is still incredibly well built. However, it's not so much the quality I criticise on the Audi, just the lack of design flair. That's where I think the Audi trails the Volvo and Mercedes. Plus I think the infotainment isn't as good. That all being said, overall the Audi is the better car. Like I said, my head says buy the Audi. I think the biggest issue with the Audi is the fact the Skoda Enyaq does everything it does at a much cheaper price. Trust me, I'm not biased towards the Merc as there is a lot of compromises to be made with it. But I do believe that it stands equal comparison, and I personally prefer its greater refinement having done many miles in both. But hey, we are all different, we all like different things, otherwise life would be dull. Thanks for taking the time to write us a comment, and please keep watching us for much more content to come. @@AutoEV We had issues with a new XC40 (D4 First Edition) which lead us to looking at Audi as an alternative. Sat in a Q3 and it left us numb, sat in a Q5 and much the same. I think people go overboard on 'quality'... to us, both were just a sea of gray plastics (some of which in the seating area looked very similar to our previous Skoda Yeti). Yes, the Volvo quality was not so good, but far more interesting in every way, inside and out. My brother owns a last gen A3 which he loves, but this week had a latest gen A3 loaner... same interior (looking from a non Audi owner perspective) as the Q4. He said his previous gen A3 felt more premium top to bottom. I've owned and driven a few Mercedes, and found them to be very relaxing to drive. As AutoEV says, each to there own! By the way, our own is now a Kia Soul EV (for over a year). Fantastic car all round... a bit Marmite, but certainly not (Audi) dull in any way. We are now looking forward to Kia's EV4 in 2023. After owning many brands, I think Kia are currently on point with their customers needs. BTW, the Soul and E-Niro also have the radar/GPS automatic regenerative braking tech (amazing stuff). All said, another nice thoughtful review, thank you! PS, nobody seems to go into running costs these days... how about a quick flash of an average annual service cost (based on their longest term plans) / insurance group rating / and warranty period (in a comparison table) right at the end? Steve.

      @@heartofcinema3454 ah, now you do raise a good point that needs acknowledgement. I too dislike infotainment screens sitting on top of the dash and much prefer them to be integrated. I dislike the Hyundai Kona's for this reason, and much prefer the Kia e-Niro and Vauxhall Mokka's dashboard for that reason. However, I do love the screens on the EQA and because it's both the infotainment and instrument binnacle, it looks much more cohesive.
