The 1943 Batman serial was perfectly fine for its time. And its influence on the genre shouldn't be underestimated. As you know, it also introduced the visual screen concept of the batcave to audiences, plus the secret entrance to the cave via the grandfather clock in Wayne Manor. An idea, incidentally that they borrowed from the Douglas Fairbanks silent movie of Zorro.
It would be awesome if the skins also skinned the other characters, and thugs to fit the skin's theme. Including the gadgets! It would be awesome if this batman really made everything black and white.
The 1943 serials are in their old school casual racism kind of way, with a straightforward plot that made sense. The 1949 serials though are generally terrible and boring with virtually no redeeming qualities due to a plot and macguffin that made no sense.
If you are playing the Xbox One import of Arkham Knight and want a Batman skin that looks campy enough to match up with the 1960’s Batmobile since the Adam West skin is only available on the PS4 and PC imports, well, look no further than the this the 1939 first appearance Batman skin. Though the 1970’s Batman would work just as well. But for me, I choose the 1939 skin. Mostly because I think it matches better with the campy tone.

Funny how I was born in 2000 and this version of Batman is the first I saw since I had like 12 discs? I was really shocked to go from this straight to the VHS tape of Batman 1989 and how much he changed, I loved it.
You dope, the whole reason for the "white henchmen" and "headquarters in an amusement park" was because the villain in the original serial was written to be the Joker, and because of World War 2 it was mandated that it be changed to a Japanese spy. I'm sure that the studio would have been happy to cast a Japanese actor in the role, but since Japan had killed more than 2,000 men at Pearl Harbor, we were at war with them and there weren't any Japanese people that could have (or would have) come to America to film the serial, and since the Democrat President Franklin Roosevelt had sent the Japanese to internment camps (along with Italians and Germans), Japanese Americans weren't available. I guess the real problem was that Japanese decided to kill Americans and cause a war and Democrats decided to lock up Japanese Americans. Although I would have loved to have seen the Joker as the villain in this serial. So get your facts straight before you go off on this movie.

Before the New 52, the name "Alfred Beagle" was part of the comics: Alfred Beagle was his birth name, but after his time in MI6 and a return to civilian life, Alfred legally changed his last name to Pennyworth.
Actually post crisis it went back and forth between that and him being born pennyworth and having been called beagle when being an actor since many actors changed their names when acting.
