I think it is so sweet & thoughtful that you divide up what you make and season it separately for your guests’ tastes. One day you will make an awesome Grandma!!! ❤️😘 Love ya!

Ok. This Yankee girl was having the hardest time figuring out where to buy the diced "pickles" Tammy was using and then today I realized it is sweet "relish" which in Chicago our relish is the Vienna Neon green Chicago style that we use on our hotdogs. I love coleslaw and will try Tammy's recipe because all her dishes are the best! My mom was from the south and made a lot of these recipes and I am having so much fun getting back in the kitchen again. Thanks Tammy! Happy Memorial Day and God bless our great country!!

Using paper towels to soak up the grease is the way to go. The cast iron skillets are heavy sometimes. It all looks scrumptious. I was laughing at Chris talking about, if you kiss your family members, it does matter that you eat out of the bowl or lick the spoon. That’s right Chris 🥰

I always add a cup or two of water into the raw ground beef...which disperses it. Once it's done cooking I drain the water and the grease goes along with it. Because the water "breaks it up" it's the perfect consistency...no elbow grease needed.

My first slaw dawg was when I was 17 and moved to Acworth, Georgia to live with my aunt and uncle. A girl I worked with was going home for lunch to eat slaw dawgs. I said what the heck is a “slaw dawg?!” She said , I’ll bring you one back. I can still remember sitting in the break room at Ingles grocery thinking that I had died and gone to heaven. We became really good friends and her mama invited me over one day just to teach me how to make them. ❤️

Got a short story for you about blue plate mayo. I had a mate that we worked together for about 4 years and he lived in port Gibson Mississippi just below Vicksburg Mississippi and we were coming up the river and we always got stores north bound at Vicksburg and he came flying up to the pilot house and told me that he had finished off the last jar of blue plate and to call the boat store and make sure that the yankee cook had ordered blue plate mayo. So I call and sure enough she hadn’t and he about had a melt down. So ask them to add 6 jars and miss Dorthy said she would and to tell Rufus hello. Needless to say the crisis was averted.

Tammy, I don't know WHY I was never taught to grate cabbage for coleslaw lol. I didn't even think of it. I love, love coleslaw too so now that's the only way I'm gonna make it. Funny thing is, I just had coleslaw the other day at work when they provided us a "free meal" for their anniversary. It was from Raising Cane's, which ironically I've never tried before. It was decent, but their coleslaw was the best! It was a meal of all white meat fried chicken tenders, crinkle cut fries, a stale piece of bread and last but definitely not least, the coleslaw, which reminded me a bit of KFC's. Oh, and I'm not a big fan of chili, but I would LOVE to make it the way you made it.

Just wanted to jump in as someone with a medical microbiology degree... Unopened commercial mayo absolutely is shelf stable and doesn't need to be refrigerated, but once it's opened, then you need to refrigerate it if you want it to still be (safely) usable after about 8 hours. The USDA recommends disposing of it after 8 hours spent at a temperature at or above 50 F - so definitely don't leave it out at room temperature indefinitely once opened. And homemade mayo is a completely different beast - if you are using raw eggs, absolutely refrigerate it.
Similarly, when it comes to the 2 hour rule, that's only a good recommendation if the temperature is under 90 F. If it's any higher than that, at any point, then it's 1 hour. And while the rumour used to be that you shouldn't put hot food straight into the fridge, it's actually fine to do so. Your fridge should be able to cope, and it also cools the food faster to reduce the risk of bacterial growth, because it doesn't stay in the "danger zone" of temperature for as long.

Tammy, anytime I cook hamburger for any dish I’m making, I drain my hamburger and onions etc, in a colander and press down the hamburger meat with a big spoon. Just let it drain a few minutes. Then put the meat back in the pan.

Ps our Mother served us hot dogs with canned chili that was too greasy, but since living in TEXAS the last 52 years, I've used Wolf brand chili or just sweet pickle relish & onions!

Love hot dogs and all the fixings. Have a nice celebration with the kids. Cold up here in the north...50 degrees no sun. We have had some nice weather this month, but this weather has put a damper on everyone’s outdoor activities this holiday weekend. Love you and Chris. I really enjoy all the videos. God bless you all.
