It's been far too long since the last time DreamWorks Animation won an Oscar which was Wallace and Gromit back in 2006. Would be awesome to see The Wild Robot as their next long overdue Oscar win
@@SafouaneMarrakh As much as I agree on that, I wouldn't say that Puss In Boots 2 was robbed of its Oscar. The one who won the award was Guillermo Del Toro's Pinocchio, which also deserved its Best Animated Feature award. I'm just glad it wasn't Disney.
It's amazing how far we've come with lighting to the point we can now capture the essence of what you would see from the concept art. That "Vis-Dev" feel was VERY much present in this film and it was lovely.
Inside Out 2 may be the biggest movie of the year, but that doesn't mean it will win. It was really good, but not quite on the level of the first one. Also, the whole narrative of becoming the highest grossing animated film of all time boosting its chances of winning really needs to stop because that's just stupid. The quality should matter more than the box office returns. With all that being said, I think DreamWorks is long overdue for another Oscar and The Wild Robot just might be the film to do it. I'm really excited to see it next week.
Well, Incredibles 2, Finding Dory, Frozen 2, they all earned over a billion just like IO2 and they still didn't win. Besides that, lnside Out was kinda meh when compared to the first one... sooo, I can see this easily winning
@@ZlatanHu. But none of these animated movies you mentioned was the BIGGEST movie of the year OVERALL, even above all the live action movies of the year like Inside Out 2 was 😅😅

I just saw The Wild Robot in theaters today. I loved it a lot more than the mediocrity of Inside Out 2. I swear if that film wins the Oscar, the Academy truly does not respect the art form of animation. It is a great film that everyone should see.
Here are my current choices for nominees on Best Animated Feature ar next years Oscars: 1. Inside Out 2 2. The Wild Robot 3. Mars Express 4. The Imaginary 5. Memoir of a Snail What do you guys think of it?
My review: With gorgeous animation and a perfect voice cast, The Wild Robot is a well written emotional story and certainly the best animated film not just for Dreamworks, but this year.
i think we might have a 4 way standoff by the end of the year for best animated feature. Inside Out 2, The Wild Robot (Saw an advance screening), Moana 2 (remains to be seen) and a big surprise and dark horse in Transformers One with its shakespearean tragedy story. All 3 (IO2, WR and TF1) are coming of age films told in a different manner. Gonna be interesting to see how it goes.
Can it be? Has Dreamworks FINALLY made a top-quality movie with a female protagonist (even if she is a robot)? Praise the day!! My choice for the best animated movie heretofore of the last five years is definitely Cartoon Saloon's Wolfwalkers. I've loved lots of others (Across the Spider-Verse, The Boy and the Heron, Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, Turning Red, Encanto, Marcel the Shell With Shoes On), but Wolfwalkers managed to hit every single button I have, in a way the others haven't quite managed. It is past time for Cartoon Saloon to get their A game back and release another masterpiece. I can't wait for The Wild Robot. The animation looks exquisite.
I would bet it’s going to win Best Animated Feature but I’d rather see it nominated as Best Picture. Additionally I think it will be nominated for Best Original Score. Best adapted Screenplay. Best original song and quite a few technical awards. What I really wish is that somehow Lupita Nyong’o could be nominated for best Actress because she brought Roz to something next level.
This was ok, but the message must have been lost on me because it was not the feel good, cry/laugher of a movie at least personally it was sold as. Parts of it were, but I did not like the ending and was disappointed when comparing it to the hype. I do not know what to root for in animated feature as I did not love Inside Out 2 either. Maybe Memoir of a snail? I know Transformers One will not win, but I liked that one the most so far.
So, did you like this movie, Brian? 😂😂😂😂😂 Seriously though, I love your channel. You have rekindled my interest in movies. And I will definitely see this one.
What's weird to me is people will go to a feel good animated film like this dealing with migration and yet they completely ignore a live action film like My Penguin Friend which is equally good and about migration and emotionally as powerful. Why?
Likely because My Penguin Friend got a limited release (at least at my theaters) and wasn’t heavily advertised as much as the big family movies. I never would have heard of it if there wasn’t a trailer for it in front of the Luca theatrical run, which was also a limited run.
Because the art director openly discussed how Miyazaki's works were an influence on the art direction (namely on the appearance of the forest, but Roz's appearance clearly was as well).
My big fear is I’ll enjoy The Wild Robot as much as Brian and then it will lose to Inside Out 2. Dreamworks really is due for a 2nd Oscar. Puss and Boots: The Last Wish understandably lost to Guillermo Del Torro’s Pinocchio, but the entire How To Train Your Dragon trilogy was robbed, especially The Hidden World (Toy Story didn’t need a second Oscar - the 4th movie didn’t need it for sure) Edit: If Wallace and Grommet counts as Dreamworks Animation, then I guess they are due for a 3rd Oscar.
I do believe The Wild Robot has a shot but the only possibility for Inside Out 2 to win best animated feature is if the Oscars pull off an Encanto where we all thought Mitchells vs. Machines was going to win but then it went to Encanto
Just got home from seeing it. Sure, I enjoyed it. It was good. It felt a little derivative to me if I’m honest. It had splashes of ‘Wall-E’, ‘Big Daddy’, and ‘Tarzan’ about it. Not a bad movie by any means, but just a touch on the underwhelming side. As for ‘Inside Out 2’, I personally would prefer to see it take the Oscar. Yes, it’s a sequel. Yes, it’s Pixar. Again. It also has one of the best representations of anxiety I have seen onscreen in a long time. The original film is my favourite Pixar movie, and this sequel (while not quite reaching the same heights), is a worthy successor in many ways.
I mean... It doesn't matter how good it is... There's no way in hell 'Inside Out 2' being the BIGGEST movie of 2024 will lose that best animated feature Oscar 👀👀
