This movie is one of the only movies I’ve seen that attempts to have so many themes and actually does it success. It tackles parenting, identity, self confidence, respect and compromise, and probably others that I missed, while having insanely good characterization and spectacular animation. Overall it’s a damn brilliant film that I will rewatch many times.

A big reason all these ideas succeeded is that it stuck *very* closely to the original book. One problem I felt both the movie and book had is the predator problem. If there’s a truce and no one eats one another, carnivores starve. So, it doesn’t really work if you think about it even for a second.

The fact that Chris Sanders wrote and directed this movie excites me the most. He has been in the animation industry for decades and it truly upsets me how a lot of people still don't know his name. From Lilo & Stitch to How To Train Your Dragon to The Croods and now this movie, Sanders is easily one of the greatest artists working in the animation industry. I really hope this could be a bigger hit for him. He's such a gem in animation industry, i adore him so much

I'd like to add a point here. Nature is rightfully depicted as a "survival of the fittest" in Wild Robot, but there is one important exception to this which is the selfless action of parents. Making a robot, the hallmark of a "human" society, naturally become a parent in this environment, the one element of nature which inherently embraces altruism, all while showing that it is a human trait and how human technology can help nature in this same way, is very well done

What I find thought provoking is that Roz is an AI that rewrites her code to learn empathy, humanity and parenthood. Pretty much like how humankind started out as violent cavemen, but through time, we gradually developed those things as a mean of self-preservation and survival of our community. If we could come to this point despite our beginning, then who's to say AI can't do the same when put in the right circumstances, but at a much faster pace? And Vontra said that they want something inside Roz, because it's special. Maybe, humans can't fully replicate humanity, but AI can?
Is it possible to see something like Roz happen in the future?

Its hints of climate change were small but very big as well. They created a lot of question about the world of the movie outside of the characters. Also you mentioned it looks like an illustration, they actually hand drew over the 3D models to give it that feeling! They indeed did mix all the art elements together! The wild robot is one of the most beautiful films and I hope it’s one not to stab us in the back in the future as we look at our world and see it dead and polluted.

I really like this video, your passion for movies and animation really pops off the screen! It is a well articulated love letter to the wild robot and a very enjoyable watch. My only gripe would be the section where you discuss the wild robot as the pinicale of animations evolution from 2D cel animation to 3D in the 2000's to now. It feels to me like you are arguing that 3D is superior to 2D or stopmotion and an improvement in the medium of animation as a whole. While this could be a false assumption of mine and not what you meant, I would like to explain that viewing animation like this is harmfull to the industry. In recent decades it has become harder and harder to get traditional 2D projects greenlit in the west, especially in big feature lengt movies, the business people involved see it as less marketable since it is "old" and "obselete". 3D, 2D and stopmotion are simply different ballparks, they are not better or worse than each other. Spiderverse, arcane, the wild robot, these projects are gorgeous and should be celebrated but projects like El dorado, Wolfwalkers, The boy and the heron, Klaus or Coraline, Kubo and the two strings, The house etc are equally gorgeous! You can see the love and work the artist has put into each hand drawn, hand moved frame. You can create wonders just with a pencil and paper or wire and clay, people finding these mediums inferior just because they use less computers is hearbreaking to me as an animator. I'm not saying this is what you meant to imply with that section of the video, like I said you seem very passionate and a lover of animation, but I would like to ask you to be cautious whith possilbly echoing the sentiment that 3D is the 'superior' form of animation.

8/10 for me. It's really good and I love that it feels like they really care about the story and not just the box office. I appreciate it, also the animation and the way they let it breathe, without rushing so much.
Of course, I prefer the first half to the second. I think it was a mistake to bring Brightbill over after he finally joined the geese on the migratory journey. I also don't understand the change in perspective that shows him in the futuristic city and I think there were too many goodbyes and never a real feeling of loss.
Maybe I'm too demanding, but that's what happens when many tell me it's a masterpiece.
    Very good, without a doubt.

@@shouryamukherjee9854 well for me it's more than just beautiful animation to became a masterpiece, and this could, because for the whole first half i though it was doing an spectacular job.
To make myself clear i consider a masterpiece something like The Princess Mononoke, not just gorgeous animation, but also solid plot and way more mature development of the themes you are dealing with, if that's what you are trying to do.

Thats fine, its your opinion and i agree, its not bad being demanding sometimes. I actually liked the movie a lot, i think its a 100/10 for me, but its because i kinda felt identified with the movie and a lot of aspects. Sometimes we get a real feeling when there are situations on our lives that we can identify with. I actually got that "real feeling of loss" it was truly beautiful for me.

I love CGI and stop motion animated films, but thought it was utterly contrived and charmless. I was really looking forward to this, but was left feeling really disappointed. It looks good enough, but I wouldn't call it groundbreaking or original in any way. The last film of theirs I really enjoyed was Captain Underpants. I'm mystified how anyone could find this better than WALL-E. If this is a sign of things to come and people are lapping it up, then that's genuinely quite sad.

your review convinced me to watch wild robot, and its not even close to the best movie ive ever seen. i dont even think its better than the last puss in boots. Its a nice, emotional movie, but it was so dumb that the animals beat the robots at the end. The duck dived into the front windshield of a moving rocket ship, and instead going splat, he smashes through the glass.
Its good, but its not great. Its not amazing and its not the best anything.

The 98% score from both critics and audiences would suggest otherwise, my friend.
Sorry it didn't connect with you... and sorry it's a cartoon??? I think you need to lighten up a bit.
I could point to countless films, from endless studios, animated and live-action, that use "ridiculous plot devices" that only work when the plot demands it... and in this case, it was a goose diving through a windshield... could have been John Wick taking punch after punch, bullet after bullet, until the plot decides he passes out... could be Simba, a lion, surviving solely on insects... or Puss-in-Boots delivering blow after blow to a giant stone beast weighing thousands of tons, coming out unscathed, yet somehow a bell falling on him kills him?...it's called storytelling. There's a reason Pitch Meeting, and CinemaSins, and countless other film parody studios exist... enjoy the ride, and don't think too hard.

Damn Dreamworks gotta be one of the most inconsistent companies like ever?
Yeh we'll release Puss in Boots 2, one of the best sequels of all time, featuring one of the best villains of all time, but then we have to release a forced successor to the Kung Fu Panda trilogy featuring by far the weakest villain of the franchise, and an annoying side character used as a plot device to be the obvious new dragon warrior, and we'll also release one of the worst sequels of all time as Megamind 2 completely destroying Megamind's backstory and character growth from the first film, but then we'll also release a brilliant new IP that manages to convince audiences to engage in a completely new yet ironically flawed robot, with stunning visuals, whilst tackling multiple parental themes to provide an outstanding unique IP? I don't get you Dreamworks. Why are you so insistent in having a 50% winrate?

It's exaggeration for views. People who see a film they really like called a masterpiece or perfect will be more willing to click on the video to boost their ego in the sense that the channel confirms their opinion on the film is correct. Whilst still keeping it authentic by being an honest critic in the actual analysis, and sprinkling the channel with negative views that they expect to be less popular but ensures people believe they are a genuine critic.
