- Hey guys!! Welcome to my Home Makeover Series Marathon! Over this past year, we transformed several new areas in our home, including our three boys bedrooms & our upstairs living room / loft area. In these room makeovers, we added lots of function & made sure to keep the rooms feeling cohesive with the rest of our house, while also giving each space a custom feel & especially in our boys bedrooms, making sure to let each room reflect each of their personal interests & styles. These space were wildly different colors and vibes when we first moved in, but now they are exactly what we need & want in our home! In this home makeover marathon, I've compiled all 4 of these episodes into one long video that you can pop up onto your tv, tablet or phone & watch all the way through without having to search for the next makeover episode! I hope this gives you some ideas for transforming rooms in your own home! Love the map! I’m a retired teacher now living in Ottawa, Ontario. I grew up and worked in Sudbury, Northern ,Ontario. Incorporating anything educational is real plus. I really enjoyed this video.

I’m back for the bedroom. My husband was a painting contractor for over 35 years. Ben Moore was his go to paint. I notice you use the same spray paint I use, too. We are about to repaint our house White Dove, my husband’s favorite. We’ve had a putty color for 10 years and I need to brighten up the house now that we’re getting “elderly”!
Gotta love hiccups! I put a small moon light on the bedside table in the guest room. I love the large hanging one! So, so, so cool!!! I want one.
I was just telling my daughter about your curtain technique! I think I’m going to try them for myself. I’ll start in the master bedroom to test it out.
I’m guessing you’re going to paint the closet door handles black. This is such a sophisticated boy’s bedroom. Very cool! I am so loving this room! Brilliant solution with the shirt and quote!

I’m so excited. I just finished your fabulous transformation of your sister’s house. Now I get to see you work your magic on your own. You are inspiring me as I am in the process of making changes in my own. I do not know your plan for the wall where the mirror is, so now I am really excited!
I love the color! It’s such instant gratification to watch a room get repainted. I had to laugh when I saw you with one foot on the ladder and one on the counter. I was painting my son’s rental apartment for a new renter who was moving in. My son walked in after work and found me (4’ 10”) with one foot on the ladder and one on the kitchen counter. He exclaimed, “What do you think you’re doing?” I said, “Cutting in the kitchen ceiling!” I was 72. 😊
I’m with you on the black! And the bare feet. I think we must be kindred spirits. I painted my front door interior black 3 years ago so it would be more dramatic. You enter into an open concept great room and I wanted to make it stand out.
My son and I played Might & Magic on the computer when he was a teenager. We loved it! Now, my husband and I live in Florida and when I go north to visit him in New Hampshire, we work on jigsaw puzzles together. My daughter and two granddaughters are in Massachusetts and we seem to do more shopping and eating out. I hate them being so far away, but we text daily and FaceTime.
I am LOVING this room!
I have not guessed the wall change yet. A stencil pattern or mural?

I liked all 3. They have different interests so it wouldn't really be fair to pick a favourite. They were all done up with great thought and intentions. It just shows that you don't have to spend a LOT to improve a space and paint is a big factor in this as well. Great designs and additions on all three and what is most important is that they all loved their rooms.

Love the 2 TV's side by side. We are a gaming family as well, and it has kept my kids ( now young adults) close to us. Everything you said I can relate to because we started off the same way in separate rooms, now we are all in the den with the same set up ❤
You 2 work together so well and have such fun. I love what you have done to your home. What I like to is that you give tips so that other people can try those in their home. You do a fantastic job. My friend is a painter, he gave us a tip,to have your primer tinted. Even if your paint has primer in it, It's cheaper to buy.
tinted primer and put that on instead of having buy an extra gallon of paint, especially if you are going from dark to light or light to dark. It makes all the difference in the world. I know it has helped so much here. I know that's what the paint stores have suggested to us. So I didn't know if you have ever heard that. I have 3 sons. When my youngest son was 13, I had my daughter. My oldest has always liked lightet colors, To this day, he is still the same. When you were painting the blue on your oldest son's wall, that was my middle son. His whole room was a shade of dark blue. It actually was really pretty, but it was not fun to try to paint over when my youngest son moved in that room. One time, my daughter wanted this neon green, I said to her, "Are you sure she was not quite a teenager yet. We started painting it, and her room glowed, and then she realized it was not the color she wanted. Lol That was probably the hardest color to paint over that. I've ever done in all my years of painting. You are so right about learning to trim, My mom has always had that ability it took me a little longer. But for the last 25 years, I have arthritis. And I can't trim so easily anymore. Oh, how I missed that. When you were doing the loft, the game area that wall turned out great. That map is something I've not seen before. It is really awesome.. I am thinking about talking to one of my family members of doing that in our extra room. It is so fun to see what you are doing. Step-by-step, it all looks fantastic. Liam's room remind me of something my grandsons Would like I'm gonna have my daughter and mom look at this video. The lava lamp brought back memory. Yes, a couple of my kids had them they love them. My daughter I think might still have hers. Happy New Year, and I am looking forward to the things you do in the future.
I enjoyed watching these again. Such a great job on the rooms!! I think its always sweet to look back at the changes. Kids grow up so fast! I can't believe I have watched your kids grow up, they were just little guys, yesterday! I am not sure I can pick a favorite. I love what you did with all the color blocking and that you did something different in each room. Well done!!

12/26/2023. Rewatched the second time and am still amazed how well the couch fit the space. I loved the map in your previous home and was so happy you put one up in this room. Wow, this was a lot of information. I remember watching the videos throughout the last year. It is amazing how much you accomplished. What a total change you and Kyle have made on your house and how much value you have added. Of course, the most important value is giving your sons a place to call their own. Each room to match each one's own likes and preferences. Then when you add the rest of your renovation. The kitchen is my favorite. Take care

So, this vlog is 3months old…. I started following you yrs ago, when you were in Utah, and I lived in Michigan. (With no plans of ever moving. Lived there my whole life)
Then you moved to AZ.
Shortly after that, my husbands job took us to AZ! I am in Queen Valley, I always hope when I go “into town” I might see you!

I love how the boys rooms are all very different but cohesive at the same time.
I painted an accent wall in my living room SW Tricorn Black and it turned out so nice. It definitely elevated the look of my living room, added warmth and accentuated the height of the wall! I had a hard time getting others to buy into the idea of 'black paint'. But after the finished look... everyone loved it!

Hello! What a pleasure to watch these videos all together! The black wall in the tv room was a bit overbearing until you hung the tv’s. Then I thought it would have made the tv’s overbearing on a light colored wall! It turned out looking great! I liked the navy you put in 2 of the rooms. Navy goes with anything! I liked the wood you put across the wall(s) and the little shelf! The stencil looked great in Noah’s room. It really softened up the black. They all turned out similar but yet individual to the boys. I could watch you paint all day! You make it look so easy. My favorite part of all of them was when Noah knocked on his little shelf when you told him that his dad made it 😊 It’s always a pleasure watching you and Kyle work and have fun together! I just love your family! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ From Southern Illinois by a town known to be the birthplace of William Jennings Bryan. There is a statue of him and online there’s the coolest story about how they moved it to Salem from Washington DC. He was known to be “the great orator” and also ran for president 3 times.

I love the living room makeover but I would have considered painting the desk and overhead cupboards black as well :-D All the boys bedrooms look great!

I like the map and the wood art beside it. You got a great deal on the couch and t.v. stand. The whole room looks inviting. I would be stretching out on the couch after a hard days work like you put in.

We aren't gamers, but I understand your thoughts on this room makeover. The black accent wall isn't something I would do, but if you love it, then that's all that matters.😊 As for a high end lux look for less, add more curtain panels to make them look more full. I live in Eastern Washington it gets dark @ 4:30 pm in the winter. My favorite place I traveled to has been the U.K. & Ireland.

You can also use carpet tape to get rugs flat & also keep them from shifting.
Our family loves gaming as well and our living room has one TV on top and one TV on bottom for this exact reason. So fun to be in the same room and play together.

I loved watching these videos again. I started following you when your were in Utah. Never fails to see the makeovers you and Kyle do. I still like Liam room the best. Just turning furniture around and paint and new decor can make all the difference. Great job I love it I’m from Victoria in Australia we are know as both the sporting capital and the coffee capital. My favourite part of the makeover is the map on the wall.
New to your channel. I find your voice and the decorating so relaxing. The loft results are great. Map is outstanding. At 83, don't do much DIY now but still have ideas in my head ! Lol. One comment. I don't see any end or coffee table to put a drink or snack. Perhaps the big poofy thing could be exchanged for something tablelike. 😊❤
This may already exist somewhere, but I'd love to see detailed how-to videos of the DIYs you and Kyle do. It's so inspiring to watch you do it, but then I remember that my husband and I are both DIY-challenged, so weI'd have no idea where/how to start. 😂
We just share tidbits in makeovers and on the vlog channel - but I appreciate the suggestion!! We will try to share more! We often just learn as we go!

I am like you, I like doing the one trip thing. I use our wheel barrow to bring in the groceries because we live in the rear of the house and the driveway of course is in the front of the house at the road. It would be too much for me to make 3 or 4 trips from the car to the back of the house. Our wheel barrel is a good one and it is deep.
This will make you laugh. When I saw the two TVs in the loft I said to myself, "Wait, I've seen that before but it was in a basement. " I knew I had seen your videos before but I was like, "Hold up, didn't they live in Utah? " Just goes to show quality content always last and comes back around. I made sure I subscribed this time. I am an American living in the Philippines.
