    Great video! I’ll be making a nice garage workbench with these cabinets and you have convinced me to paint them with a roller instead of a sprayer. Thanks!

    Thank you for posting,I am a pretty handy carpenter, I really want a few custom things in my kitchen but yet not have to build all the cabinets,found some great all wood maple raw cabinets about same price as the lowes (walnut) and I beleive the option of painting them opens up much more oppertunity to customize some cabs,trim etc much cheaper,same with Faux doors and such on island etc..I can build those things and paint them much cheaper,it is crazy how much they want for just finished trim alone.Done many things but never painted Cabinets lol.Your Cabinets look great. Again Thank you so much for the great advice on the kind of paint you used and all the tips.

    Nice techniques. I mainly found it interesting that you read the directions (and followed them). Nice results! I bet you can read a map and will even stop and ask for directions when not sure how to get where you want to go. You guys have a cool thing going on, should be very proud.

    Great video! I am planning to replace my base cabinets which are not in good shape, but not my upper which are in very good shape.
    Was wondering about painting both upper and lower to match, and really liking the idea (and price) of the unfinished cabinets

    This was really helpful! We're about to tackle a much smaller project with a wet bar and am interested in using the unfinished stock cabinets. From the video, it looks like you installed the bases and then painted them once installed. Did I get that right? Therefore you didn't worry about painting the walls of the cabinets that are unseen, right? And you painted them right there in the kitchen once installed? Just want to make sure I have the process down. Thanks again!

    We just purchased a rental and we are going with the unfinished cabinets as well. A couple of questions, do you do any light sanding between coats of using self leveling paint? Also, what is the finished sheen, it was hard to makeout from the video. Your cabinets look AWESOME! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us.

      Thank you. I am sorry it is a custom color so I don’t have a name. I found a cabinet door sample that I liked the color of at Home Depot and had them color match a sample of paint for me. I then took it to Ace hardware and had them color match it in Benjamin Moore paint.

    You did a really nice job with these cabinets. Did they take a lot of sanding? Which grit sand paper did you use if you don’t mind me asking.

    • @maggiescottagediy6107
      @maggiescottagediy6107  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks! They didn’t take much sanding at all. I just used fine paper I believe 220. Of course some might be different from ours but I was happy with how smooth they were.

      Thank you! I painted them on my patio where I put up sheets that hung down on the sides of the patio because of the hot sun! This helped keep them clean. After leaving overnight I would dust off and I never had any problems with debris. You can do the paint inside if needed but not the primer. You also need to lightly sand between coats which could help but if anything gets on them it should just easily come off.

    The only thing I didn't like mine after paint was you could still see the grain of the wood, just not as smooth as I was hoping. Looks great love the color. Can't complain though since the price of these cabinets is right

    • @maggiescottagediy6107
      @maggiescottagediy6107  2 роки тому +1

      Sorry they weren’t as smooth as you had wanted. I was very pleased with ours they were smooth and the grain was really not noticeable unless you looked really close. It certainly is a reasonable priced way to get new cabinets. Thanks for watching and commenting!

      I chose to buy a unfinished base sink cabinet,60 in wide instead of combining 2 cabinets to get this width for my island.Only problem is it didn't come in white,I had to buy the unfinished type and paint it,which I didn't care to paint.But for $40 a gallon of paint I saved myself over $200 by doing this.

  • @carolinej3661
    @carolinej3661 2 роки тому +1

    Why so stingy with the paint on the brush and roller? (you were leaving streaks where there was no paint) Could you see any grain from the wood showing through the paint when you were done? Does this paint have a matte or a satin look when dry??

    • @maggiescottagediy6107
      @maggiescottagediy6107  2 роки тому +3

      Thanks for watching. I wasn’t stingy with the paint it was just the right amount you don’t want to get too much on right away because to make it a nice smooth finish it is better to do several coats sanding in between so it looks more professional. If you see the finished product it looks nice and smooth. You may see a little grain depending on the wood. Mine showed very little grain only noticeable if you looked very close. I used a satin finish in this paint you can get whatever finish you want. It is a very good paint that is self leveling.

    • @maggiescottagediy6107

      It is recommended to prime raw wood to help the paint go on smooth and to help cover up imperfections. I used a really good paint but stilled primed mine. I like the way they turned out.

    • @OneAdam12Adam

      That's not true if you want to make them look professional. In fact, I would use oil based primer and either oil based enamel or oil based lacquer paint. It won't chip or wear for decades.
