I have a 2008 Kawasaki 1000 xr I changed the stator or mechanic did in okc and worst news he called me told me bike was blown and motor needed replaced and shortly asked if he can buy the bike for cheap but I’m iffy bout it
If the motor were truly blown he would have felt that pulling it in to service it and never started to work on the stator before calling you. I think I'd ask him to put it back together and bring it somewhere else for a 2nd opinion.
Hey this is a long shot, but idk who else to ask. Couple months ago I was riding my 09 ninja 650, and it died. All lights and display were on fine, but wouldn't let me try and start or anything. Sorry about the late reply, I don't check my messages as often since YT decided to put the screws to myself and many others.. What all have you done thus far other than the replacement battery and quick hotwire of pump? Have you checked the fuses near the tank? Near the solenoid near the battery? I have a kawasaki ER-5 2006 and it stopped starting the other day, energy goes to the solenoid but doesnt come out, it works if I put a screwdriver in between them, but the bike wont start, just swapped out the solenoid and same problem.

Sounds like you need to check your neutral safety switch and verify it is connected and functioning correctly both mechanically and electrically. You could also just hold the clutch in while starting I believe, as I think there is a clutch safety switch that can override that.

@Brandon Brandon check your spark plugs and spark plug wires. Had this issue on a hyosung 250. Can't remember the year. We did the spark plug wires, spark plugs, cleaned the injectors and ran seafoam in it. Ran great after. Hope this helps. Sorry I didn't respond 11 months ago.
No, but you can do it one of two ways to bypass the safety's while in neutral. You can bypass at the starter solenoid or you can take a jumper cable from a car and go direct from the positive of the battery to the positive lug on the back of the starter.
You need to remove the tank and airbox to do that. If you don't have the service manual I'd suggest getting it. The tank is held on by 3 bolts, plus two holding the top shroud to it that you must remove. When you go to remove the tank be careful as you need to remove a fuel line from it, 2 drain/vac hoses, and an electrical connection for pump power and fuel tank sensor. When you go to remove the airbox it's a pain because you need to snake the harness over the top of the airbox cover. The airbox is secured at the bottom with a single clamp that clamps both sides onto the throttle bodies. I have a video on how to get to the airbox, not sure I made one for it's removal. Make sure to stuff socks in the throttle bodies while you have the airbox open so you don't drop anything down them.
