I’ve got 19 channels of Neve and API style preamps. The usual culprits Warm Audio, Black Lion, and Golden Age Premier. They all have their strong points but miles above the others is the warmth and mojo that comes out of the Golden Age Pre-73 Premier
I’ve had the Pre73 for a half a year. Have the HA73 right now. But now listening back the older sessions. Now I really understand and hear how GAP is keeping up with the bigger guys in the industry. Not if it’s a regret I’m speaking of. But am sure those Pre’s are on a very professional level. I would recommend anyone one of these!
Same, But can’t figure out the difference between line and mic level for a condenser microphone. Should it be at mic or line? Ikno this is a noob question 🤦🏾♂️
@@Prodby_duke So i connected my microphone to this pre amp via a 3 prong mic cord at the (IN) slot then with a 2 ring stereo line cord i connected the singular prong into the (OUT) hole of the preamp then the other prong into my Focusrite 2i2**
@@Arman... sorry I forgot to mention that I have the dlx version of this pre. On the gain knob it has line and mic, unlike the other versions. I have no problem where to route the preamp to got that part figured out 😅..but a bit confused about the mic/line markers. I would assume the gain should be at mic level since it is a mic I’m using 🤦🏾♂️..but was curious none the less
@@Prodby_duke ooh yeah i get it well i was told Line is for direct connects from instruments the mic is for mic haha.. vocals and other sounds that it may pic up your interface should register your mic as a mic depending on the set up but if you play instruments directly into the preamp (no mic) the knob settings will differ i figure it will be on the "Line" side If you do vocals the Mic/Line seems more fitting play wit it tho
Why haven’t you guys demoed the ga 251 more, I want to buy it but you haven’t really made enough videos that makes me trust that it is as solid as you claim
I'm a proud 6 month owner of the Pre73. Right now i'm highly interested in adding another one and I'm looking at that Pre73 deluxe. However I'd like to know if there's any difference in the circuitry / components than the standard version to justify a purchase, since I don't find the added front panel features of any use to me (thus the price difference).
I'm thinking about buying the one with the eq knobs. I recently bought an Isa One and don't like it. 2 questions. Do the knobs work for vocals when recording into a software and could I only use that one pre amp and not have to buy any other ones?, obviously I have an interface. I have one of the old Golden Age pre 73s and am looking for an upgrade. If you could recommend one for my Avantone CV-12 that would be great.
Hi everybody! Here is a new short test i have recorded playing with the GAP pre73 PREMIER features, with a Neumann TLM67 for Voice Over work. Hope you enjoy and would love to read your comments! ua-cam.com/video/pC8_a-_OPpE/v-deo.html
Mine is so noisy, I can only use it with the gain on 1 and the output turned up I know analogue adds noise but this is a very loud nasty hiss Any1 got any ideas? It was like this from day 1 as new!
HEY ive got a sE Gemini ii Condenser microphone. Shall I get the NEVE 1073 SPX or the Golden Age Project pre73 PREMIER ? for vocals onnly . help pleaaase

@@Prodby_duke so in short i used both
a mic cord from condenser to preamp
a stereo line cord from preamp to interface

better transformers on the latter, pretty sure (carnhills?) double check.
The upgraded the transformers, Def introduced the CarnHills!
Yess...i would like to try on drums...

Are these units dual voltages ⚡ 120-220v?
I like my preamp to have "all soldered internal connections"... 😳
The quality control has improved so much that they actually connect the internal components now. Definitely a premium build when you get a signal.
i'm wondering if there is a way to mount two pre 73 into a single rack unit side by side?
Yup, they're selling a 1U rack chassis just for that.

Stay away from Golden Age. Get a Warm Audio mic preamp. I own the WA12 MK2 black mic preamp from Warm Audio, and it is a BEAST!!!!!
Warm is not much better. I'd rather go cheaper than warm or more expensive. You get much more for your money going in either direction.

The pre73 will get you where you need to be.
