I ordered the Golden Age Project PRE 73 MKIII the other day and I was really looking forward to testing it, but when I plugged it in it wasnt working, the power light wasn't turning on, so I realized I got a defective unit... I called AMS and they were willing to exchange it for a new one. Hope the new one comes in good.

Does the HP1 and HP2 on the pre73 change how the EQ 73's LF section works?

Why do you have a Rhodes in the shot, if you're not going to demo how the Rhodes sounds through the DI?

Is this unit Only Mono? So If I Purchased Just One To run my passive summing mixer into this, will the source only be mono?

I know you have released Plus version I have seen on Thomann! but... it makes no sense to me to buy 2 more preamps. 2 preamps are enough for me I just want to improve their sound without breaking my bank.If you don't have a solution for mk2's I guess I have to find some professional to make it for me Thank you for your help!

Quick question does it pass 48v from your interface

No, why would you need +48v from your interface? The Pre-73 MKIII has its own phantom power if you need it. You'll route it to your interface using the Line output (your interface needs to be set to line input). Hope this helps! ;-)

Hi Golden Age Project, I have two of your GAP PRE-73 MKII's It is a good preamp really but I do hear it lacks some smooth top-end and the bass is not so tight sounding.I know there are mods for GAP PRE-73 but everyone makes diffrent mods and I can't trust them. Why don't you make a full carnhill mod kit with a easy to understand instruction manual for MKII owners so we can safely buy from the brand we owners trust? Thanks

We actually sell 'Plus' versions featuring Carnhill transformers if you need a tighter sound. But bare in mind it's all very subjective and depending on the type of microphone you're using or the type of sound you're after, a tighter type of transformer may not always be the best solution. It's actually nice to combine slower and faster types of sounds depending on the arrangement to create natural depth in the mix.

Both of mine sound just great, they have their own personality already. If I need a tighter sounding pre, I’ll use a different pre, lol.

So much tweaking.. Almost impossible to spot the difference the preamp might have done. Meaningless video, even though well made..

I have the pre amp and the compressor. Do I send the sound into the pre amp and then into the compressor and should I purchase the EQ? Thanks in advance.
