    Okay, so I have had two Instapots. The first one ended after 3 attempts to use and a powerful mess in the kitchen. The second has say on my counter, unused for two entire years. Today, I really just wanted to have some rice, so I dug in. I found you, and guess what, now I actually made something! It's only rice, but dang it, I'll take it. THANK YOU for not letting me feel spoken down to. I am on a health mission and I am so grateful for your perspective and way of making me be at ease (others on YT don't do that). Officially your fan. Thank you!

    I just subscribed today to learn how to use my pot. I have been having it for 5 years. The only thing I cooked in it was red beans. Watching this video shows it is very easy. Thank you ! Now I just need to learn what to cook

    My biggest battle was learning how to use saute - there are no instructions, no one explains it, but I finally figured it out. Each time you hit the saute button it changes the heat setting - low - med - high - you just need to watch as you hit saute to get the heat setting you need. Mine also defaults to 30 minutes then shuts off. You cannot walk away from saute - its like regular cooking, you have to watch and stir or bottom will burn! I love using Instapot for rice - perfect every time! If you want fluffy non-sticky rice rinse it first. I almost always let my pot naturally cool down 10-20 minutes before releasing. I keep a little notebook on what I cooked in the pot - recipies and times as sometimes the recommended time is too much or too less, and 3 months later you can't remember.

      Thanks for the saute tips. I actually hate the texture of the rice - bit mushy on the exterior of the grain but still a bit hard on the inside. My previous old pressure cooker and my rice cooker had rice come out perfect evety time.

    • @randyromines7364
      @randyromines7364 2 роки тому

      @@kk-90ld Only cook your rice 5 minutes - release after 10 min after stops cooking - won't be mushy but cooked through. I use 1 c plus 1/4 water to 1 cup rice, a little extra water will not hurt. season after cooking

    Thanks, Kristen, for the basics again. I know so many HAVE an IP but have never USED it. I was one of those people before I discovered Six Sisters a few years ago. I bought 2 on the same day in July 2018 - one for myself and one I had sent to my daughter. Hers is *still* in the unopened box! I thought I was bad just looking at the box for a couple of years, but she wins a prize! 😂
    Anyway, it’s one of those things where you need to put aside your fears and just go for it! Once you do, it’s so easy that you wonder why you were so frightened. It definitely falls under the category of “Things I worried about needlessly and put off for far too long, only to discover there was zero reason to worry.” It was extra silly in my case since I’d been using an old school stovetop pressure cooker since I was 12 or 13, so about 50 years and my mother and grandmother had used them all their lives, too! 😂😂 Anyone still on the fence should trust you and your calm, clear instructions and just give their pot a try.
    Harper is such a beauty! But she’s also not a pushover - she’s sweet, but she makes her wishes known! ❤❤❤

    I love your videos. Before I got an instant pot, I watched you how to video. Then when I got my first instant pot, I watched it again. Now a couple years later, I’m watching it again! I can’t tell you how many times mine hasn’t pressurized because the ring wasn’t in all the way. And then recently it wasn’t sealing right because somehow the flat metal piece under the valve had gotten bent. I pushed it down with a butter knife and now it seals right.

    I'm pretty sure that if you change the time after selecting a Preset button (like Eggs or Soup), it will remember that time, so you can actually program your own settings. That is really nice. It's a little annoying to have to toggle the time button, especially between eggs (5 min) and a pot roast (90 min).

    I have the exact same two pots and I prefer the 6 over the 8 for one specific reason. If I had a Dollar for every time I forget to hit start button on my 8 I’d be pretty wealthy. Other than that I love them both for what they can do. I should send you some of my metal Kabob sticks I made for my 8. They Air-fry Kabobs like you wouldn’t believe. BTW I’m back from Afghanistan living in Utah again. It’s been a while.

    I grew up with parents who used an old school pressure cooker for years and years. They did whole chickens and so many things with it. I would help my parents prepare supper with the pressure cooker too. So for me, when I received my first instant pot, I found it so odd that I was terrified of it. Lol Thankfully with the help of your channel, and my trusty mom (who I call a OG pressure cooker expert) I finally have been using mine for a while. I'm not sure what one I have, it's older, and has a manual button on it, that's the setting I always use.

    Even though I have been a subscriber for many years (even pre-Covid) I enjoyed this review and seeing the newer Air Crisp Pot. We have the place on top Air Fryer for the duo that we use every every day to crisp up my husband’s lunchtime pizza! Both units are used a lot, as I don’t particularly like to cook, but using the Instant Pot and Six Sister’s recipes makes it easy! 🥰

    So why is the slow cooker function not good on a instant pot?

    • @Lucinda_Jackson
      @Lucinda_Jackson 2 роки тому +1

      I think it’s a difference in how the pots are heated. Crockpots are designed to heat from all sides with heating elements in the bottom and all around the sides. The instant pot heating element is in the bottom only so it’s trying to slow cook by sending the heat via transfer and radiating up the metal sides of the pot. It’s pretty much the same as cooking in a pot on top of your stove, unattended all day. You end up with dishes that can be burnt on the bottom, but not done all the way through.
