- Seiko are going upstream beefing up prices and materials. This leaves their classic watches and collections at a lower price tier ready to snack up.
In this video I review the blue Seiko Turtle which is now becoming more affordable.

Excellent watch, had a 777 when they first came out- replaced it recently with a 6r35 Sumo and gifted my Turtle to a friend. Great watch, big upgrade over the Skx. Highly recommended loved it 👍🏻👍🏻
Marc at Long Island Watch just posted a video about Seiko changing their watch numbers because ISO standards for dive watches requires different language on the watch ("air diver" versus "skin diver" or something along those lines). Hence Seiko changed the name of the watch and puts the new language on the back. And you are observing discounted watches bearing the old part number. And we win! Cheaper watches! Thanks for posting. Good vid. Keep at it!
Hi Mark. I didn’t know. That’s very interesting, thanks for sharing.
Best regards,
Anders
Absolutely love Seiko Turtle.
I have the Batman Turtle, the coolest version IMHO.
Beautiful dial.
Looks a bit better on the jubilee. It doesn't look the great on the standard oyster bracelet if I'm being honest.
Though tbh, they are very large watches these Turtles, so I think they look best on NATO.
And agree, as these are probably new-old stock now, they are good value as Seiko pushes up the market.
You just made me put mine back on. LOL! I'm friendly with my local watch shop, so I got a great price!
This is not the SRP773J as the J- model has 'Made in Japan' printed on the dial. This looks to be an European market model, either the SRP773K or the newer SRPE89.
The Turtle is really nice.
I have an STP777J1, the Black dial version. I know they discontinued Sku’s and the same watch now has a compressor lately different reference number. They did it beacause ISO standard was updated and the “Air Diver’s” was replaced with “Diver’s watch”.
Thanks personally really like, Seiko, however, I would like them to do better with the details.
nice review. where to buy this jubilee.
Is that a Seiko SKX bracelet? or another Seiko Jubilee bracelet?
I like your choice of bracelet, but does it allow you to fit the original seiko spring bars? I have bought similar after market bracelets in the past but I am disappointed to need to swap to narrow bars.
Hi Gordon. I actually used the springbars that came with the new bracelet, I didn't try to fit it with the original ones.
Best regards,
Anders
Get a Turtle Jubilee from Ali Express.
Solid end links, very good fit, fits with the original fat springbars.
You even get an extra set of fat spring bars.
The clasp is not spectacular, but what can you expect for 18€?
A jubilee is the best looking bracelet on a Turtle, it has that vintage vibe all the way.
3:21 whats the name of the website?
Steeldive make the 1970 "Willard" very similar for $140 with ceramic bezel and Sapphire crystal. This is now over priced IMHO
But the movement inside a seiko and its build is worth the extra
@@carteztail7512 The Movement in a Steel dive is a Seiko movement, I would also argue the build quality is better. As said ceramic and Sapphire too. Try one £104 delivered here in the UK
The big difference:
The Seiko will hold a certain value, the Steeldive won’t.
@@e28forever30 This is true. But your not exactly losing a lot of money with a Steeldive in the first place
@@RichardsModellingAdventures
Also true!
I have handled some Steeldive watches and they are actually pretty good value for money.
Actually aligns. Lol. When you get a seiko and the bezel lines up. Congratulations is in order.
It’s like winning in the lottery!
@@TimeAndCrown. Unfortunately that's the reason l will probably never buy a seiko. Too bad. I really liked the Willard.
@@derekshearer9049 It’s too much of a gamble. I think a lot of watch enthusiasts are disregarding Seiko because of the QC issues.
After so many watches the bezel will align a few times by chance lol
I have bought many seikos from turtle 🐢 to skx to seiko 5 and they have all lined up perfectly! So I keep buying them.
Would you like to sell the seiko srp773 oyster bracelet?
The turtle and samurai both are great value watches at the moment.
The clasp on your aftermarket jubilee looks super cheep. Spend a few more dollars and put the watch on something better, like a Strapcode bracelet. On a more positive note, Turtles are fantastic, I own two of them!
The blue version these days goes a little under $300, and you get an iconic watch. The Kamasu is better spec-wise for even less money, but it's a little boring
Hi Gia. Its a real bargain for such an icon. The Orient is technically better. But I agree with you the Seiko is much more fun and original.
series K, no J ....
It seriously makes no difference, this has been done to death. None of these are actually made in Japan. The markings on the dial are different depending on the target market of the watch.
So many watches with better specs for that price. Seiko has gone up in price but not in value for what you pay. Way overpriced.
And which of those “better value” watches has the history that the Turtle does and the influence that the Turtle played in the design of all of Seiko’s divers right through to the SKX and beyond? None, that’s how many. If I chose the watches for my collection simply based on specs and numbers I’d be very unsatisfied with my collection indeed. As an example, I would not want Seiko to have released this watch with a ceramic insert, because it is not at all true to the original. Had they done that, I’m sure it would add to the “value” proposition for you, but to me it would look ridiculous and ruin the aesthetics.
You have the wrong lift angle set on the timegrapher. It should be set at 53 degrees.
