An advice I follow when I do tournaments, is, don't have a negative vibe when playing in the group! Meaning, don't get visibly frustrated and kick things etc. It'll just bring the mood down for everyone. Be happy and positive and give other players compliments when they throw good shots! :)
Totally agree with this! :)
You dont have to be positive, you can be neutral as well. But complimenting a good throw is imo never wrong.
nikko locastro does not agree
@@whitemale6227 You are right! I didn't mean to fake positivity I just wanted to emphasize not to act in a negative manner 😌👍
Totta!
Tomas eating the chocolate bar as a warm-up - priceless!!! 🤣 Stroke the Board!
😂
Stroke the beard
Here is a quote from Joe Parent's book "zen putting" - "Most golfers think that if only they played better, they'd enjoy it more. It works the other way around. If only you'd enjoy it more, you'd play better."
"De flesta golfare tror att om man bara spelade bättre så skulle man uppskatta det mer. Men det fungerar tvärtom, uppskattar man spelet ännu mer så spelar man bättre" / Joseph Parent, Zen Golf
I think this is very true :)
"Don't take critique from someone you wouldn't take advice from." -Wise words!
There is a point to that but excluding sources of critique could just exclude you from the truth as well as learning.
@@whitemale6227 True, surrounding yourself with people who won't tell you the truth isn't good either but if the guy "offering" his critique isn't someone you trust to advice you I suggest making a mental note of what was said and then checking if there is anything to it with someone you do trust to know their stuff and not BS you (and Jonathan has guys nearby who are more than qualified).
@@Flakzor123
You cant trust anyone though.
@@whitemale6227 well if you want to look at it that way you certainly can only be positively surprised in the future. I think it depends on the scope we are talking about, I am comfortable trusting someone who invested 2+ decades of their life into throwing a disc to tell me if and how I'm messing up my form if I ask but that doesn't mean I will give him/her my mastercard and disclose the code.
@@Flakzor123
You shouldnt base your life on catch phrases. Life isnt that simple and thats my argument. But you do you.
The king of content 🔥 (and handwriting)
Oh stop it you 😘
Tomas eating a kexchoklad to warm up is just perfect!
I think the best tip I ever got was play within my own goals. Sometimes you get on a card and you’re trying to match what they’re doing. If you are beginner this will only lead to frustration. Just know your game, your goals and stay within those. Push yourself for sure but don’t get outside your own game.
I was gonna post something similar to this I heard from somewhere (maybe a DD video): Play the course, not the card.
That pyramid needs to be put on a poster and then sold at a reasonable price for all to enjoy. Keep up the great work!
@Travis agree! Latitude make it happen!
Print it on a disc!
Thank you Jonathan, Tomas, and the rest of your team for all the content. Tomas has helped me more through these videos with his advice than anyone I have met in person. And Jonathan being at a similar point of progression to me helps make everything really relatable. Truly top notch, can't say enough good things.
Wow thank you!! I´m glad the videos has helped you! /Jonathan
Haha Jonathon reading DMX lyrics is something I didn't expect
😂
Hearing "X gon give it to ya" read calmly was perfect! I can't stop watching these videos - keep doing what you're doing!
Thanks a lot ❤🤘
I see some comments that touch upon this, managing expectations. For me, I started to measure my throws against the best I had done before. So while I did not get inte the trap of comparing myself to other (much better) players I still lost enjoyment from being in a not good mindset. Because if I made a hard putt from a distance I had done before it was expected of me, if I missed I got dissapointed.
My way is to look at every throw as something I really focus on without judgment, good or bad, and just focus on how it feels to do it. It's easy to get distracted of course and I'm not totally there every throw but it's a nice goal for me.
There’s a victory to have on every hole! That’s what I tell myself when I’m having a bad run.
I love your sense of humor! Always makes all the great videos even greater! My favorite channel, keep up the great work Jonathan 😄
Thank you. Means a lot! ❤
I think the most important tip is to have as many beers with you that there is baskets in your course. At least in Finland thats most important thing that noobs forget and at the last baskets starts asking for your beers. So having couple extras too is not a bad idea😁
Great job breaking down a good way to "Have Fun" during a tournament. Only thing I would add is, at least for the first few tournaments you play, don't think about playing against the other people in your division as much as you think about playing against your self and trying to play (score) better than you have before. While at the same time not taking any of it too seriously. Taking anything on the course too seriously will cause you to NOT have fun.
That´s a great tips :)
Okay, you've inspired me to sign up for my first tournament! Great video as always!
I actually wrote "breathe" inside the rim of every one of my discs for the same reason - to take that extra couple of seconds to centre myself before a throw.
Also great advice that helped me: my brother told me about a Volvo Ocean Race sailing Captain who, when somebody screwed up or something went wrong would just say "From here on", meaning basically 'yeah, that sucked, but forget about it and focus on the present'.
Can't wait to see the footage from your tournament!
That´s great! Good luck.
I think "from here on..." is a good mindset :)
Taking it hole by hole seems much easier (hopefully better) than shot by shot for me. I’m excited to try it out and I’m excited for your first tournament. Thanks so much for the amazing content. Really keeps getting better and better.
I make sure I have a good meal before a tournament. Make sure you have enough water to stay hydrated and always bring snacks to keep your energy level up, I have a cart so I always have an umbrella and a rain jacket with me. Fun is #1 in my book, no matter what my score is! Everything is a learning experience and even in tournaments where I don’t do so great I still value the experience I have! A tournament is just a self test to measure yourself against the course and to show you your strengths and your weaknesses. I also value the people on the card! Met some great people and made some friendships!
Tip for breaking down the hole if you are not that accurate: Analyze and memorize the parts of the hole, where you DON'T want to throw into. OBs (obv.) but also thick rough, or slopes you will have an uncomfortable stance on. Then choose your disc and throw accordingly, to make landing in those zones unlikely.
Absolutely. Also it's good to decide which holes to "attack". Holes you feel confident to go and get the birdie. And then the other holes, just focus on landing in the fairway and collecting pars. If a bad tee shot happens just pitch out to the fairway and take your bogey. Basically everything is about keeping your ego in check haha
Thanks for the tips ! Looking forward to see your tournament coverage
These videos never disappoint 💯
Love your videos, entertaining and good info.
Can’t wait to see your round bro. It’s been a long time in the making. 💪🏻 hopefully you plan to do more in the feature.
When i watch you throw i feel better about myself. Then i watch me throw and i feel bad again. :P Great content love it - keep it up.
😂
Having realistic expectations, for example, playing a Hole brings also more fun!
I am a Lefty and my Sidearms only goes 90-100m accurately. So on a Hole 120m bent to the left i play for Par with a 80m Sidearm and a simple layup, rather then throwing a tough Anhyzer.
Score on „your“ Holes and play save on others and still shoot -5 f.e.! This is fun! Thanks for your content guys! Even i as a experienced tournament player from Germany can enjoy it, take something from it and rethink my game as a 965 rated player. Keep grinding with fun!
Great entertaining content as usual! Breathing a great tip! I would watch planning every disc for every hole. I think you should have a good idea of what your throwing, but stay open to conditions, the “hot disc,” etc.
Can’t wait for next video!!! You guys are awesome!!!
Cheers, Aaron ❤
One thing that i always say to my self when stepping up on the teepad is to trust my muscle memory and not overthink every hole or choice of disc :P . Keep up the great work with the channel! Hope to see you on the course some time :-).
The video about having fun, was fun. Thank you 😁
Great video as always. Jealous of that tee - need to get my hands on one of those!
@Latitude 64. Been lurking and binge watching for a few days since stumbling onto your channel. I actually took the plunge and bought a starter set of discs to try the hobby. The laughs from this particular video were just what I needed today. Thanks and much love. Finally sub'd
this is great..thank you for the enjoyable content. I am a new player and a senior and watching your progress gives me hope that I can get better too...
We’ve been on a similar journey of learning and growing. To the point of I just played my first tournament last weekend. Thanks for posting this and your next one. You’re videos have made the most sense to me and have helped me on my journey. Not to mention the bag, discs, video game.. One could easily say I’m a fan. Keep having fun and sincere thanks. Peace
You not only had a awesome plan, you literally broke my funny bone! I can not stop laughing!!!!! @ lattiude 64 Crew I don't know if you started these videos on purpose, but you guys are knocking it out of the park with these videos! My favorite thing on you tube by far to watch! Much love from Michigan!!! I hope you had fun playing you're 1st tournament, I bet your card mates had a blast haha!! I KNOW I would not be able to stop cracking up but like you said I would be having fun! You killed this video please keep making more!
@6:20 from Uncle Iro the firebender: Your breath is your fire. I forget the exact quote but the fans here will get it :)
Disc golf pyramid of fun ... Love it. And Big Jerm and Uli can take some tips on hole breakdowns from Jonathan. Too funny.
Got it ... warm up like Tomas!
be in the moment... keep having fun and making videos
Hilarious and helpful, keep it up!🔥
I love your videos, Jonathan. Not only do you have good tips and advice (and I would definitely take advice from you), you're so happy and positive and it makes me smile and laugh. I also love the way you say things.
Thank you so much ❤
my word, you are the best!
Cant wait for the tournament video! If you can do it, maybe i can too!🙂 Tack Jonathan för motivationen!
Klart du kan! Kör ba kör! 😀
That would be a fantabulous t-shirt
I just got into disc golf a month ago, and have already watched MANY of your videos. I am playing in my first tournament at the end of the month, and will be writing BREATHE on my hand.
Thanks Jonathan. You always teach me something and make me laugh with every video. 😀
Love your attitude! You crack me up. LOL
This is some of the funniest stuff out there, also informative.
Wow. Thank you!! :)
I love this. Thank you for being great
No thank you ❤
Love watching your journey. Ues, breathe. Last thing we do RIGHT before running to fly off into the sky on a ppg. Thanks for the content. Old golfer here from the 90's and I'm coming back after a decade break. My have things changed a bit.
Great content!
On the breaking down a hole thing: Identify the miss, so even though you are not going to land exactly in that spot that you have "broken down" as the ideal one, know that if you miss it you will miss it on the correct side, for example, if there's OB at 80m and to the left, make sure you throw a disc that you at your max can throw 75m and that always finishes right for you, and if you miss the angle, it will go even more right.
This dude is great!
Good info and absolutely hilarious
Play your own game. To your strengths, not to the strengths of those around you. Just because someone throws a putter 400 feet doesn't mean you have to try for the first time today. And, you had it right in the beginning, have fun!
Tip- fun is watching Jonathan!
Woah I've been subbed for a while but this guy is amazing
Blushing over here. Thank you ❤
Definitely pyramid merch!
Best 10 tips ever 😀! God bless you 😁
Thank you so much!!
These videos are absolutely terrific. Jonathan and Co should be proud of these, beyond being great ambassadors for Latitude as a brand.
That´s very nice of you. Thank you 😀❤ /Jonathan
Top tip for fun, play with Jonathan! And maybe Johannas as well.
They need to make a Fuse with the ‘happy face’ stamp. I would buy one 🥏🤓
Oh one with Breathe!
i plan only the tee shot and go from there 👍
Please make your pyramid into some sort of graphic! I’d love to have this as a poster on my wall in my garage next to all of my discs, basket, etc. very good tips.
Hitting your line is pretty fun.
I started playing right before your first videos came out last year. Within the last month I have participated in two sanctioned tournaments. It is exhilarating!
That´s awesome! How did it go? (not in like how did you score, just if you had a great time?)
a good way to break down a hole i heard (i think) eric Mccabe said to walk backward from the basket to the teepad and look for different lines. (not while ppl are playing though)
Don't break nature 🤣. Hilarious video. Thanks
😂 breathe and have fun! Love the videos. Laughing at myself as a noob has made great shots even better.
Hello Jonathan! I have advice for you if you ever decide to start practicing. More discs is better. Bringing a lot of discs is how you save time, get better results, and have more fun. I like to have 3-6 copies of each disc whenever possible. Go ahead and take one of the big practice bags and fill it up.
Great advice, and I'm so happy you read that sign out loud, there's no way I would have guessed what you wrote =)
Haha 😂
The first tip here about having a plan, the thing about that is, like Mike Tyson said: "Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face". Ricky Wysocki said if you don't attack the fairways, the fairways attack you. Always have a plan for the birdie and attack it off the tee. Continue until the course punches you in the face. Then scramble.
Jonathan, You never fail to entertain me! I love these videos: Helpful and laugh out loud funny as hell. From someone who is in the content business, I hope the management at Latitude 64 realizes how much work goes into keeping these videos so entertaining. One day we will play a round together and maybe share a beer or three. Keep up the good work!
Wow thank you so much, Robert! These sort of comment always make me really happy! Sure thing 🍻🍻have a great day! /Jonathan
Hydrate before and during tournament. I’m currently living in a very hot climate so staying ahead of water intake is good 👍
Tip #2 is basically describing meditation. Great stuff!
Haha yeah I guess 😂😀
As some one who has done a few tournaments before in my life the most important thing I learned is the judgement of the people in your group won't bother you if you're too busy already judging yourself!
The lyrical exert was... Just art lol
Someone get this man a raise.
And if you do, please print some more Musket Retros xD
I have good tip: Watch your videos!!! They are great and, super fun! Keep it up!
Smile while you throw your shot off the tee. Don't know why but it makes you relax a bit. Have fun and smash that disc. I'm not sure if this tip helps amyone else but me tho 😅
Really like this tip :).
Don't break nature is great advice.
😂👍
Because this might happen:
"Am I comfortable now?"
"No"
One of the many moments that genuinely made me laugh out loud. I love these videos and Jonathan so much
Haha thank you ❤
Perfectly put (putt), it was the best answer (hyzer) I've heard approaching disc golf. Thank you, much love and appreciation. Täydellisesti sanottuna (putti), se oli paras vastaus (hyzer), jonka olen kuullut lähestyvän discgolfia. Kiitos, paljon rakkautta ja arvostusta. Does that translate?
Hey, love the videos. I wonder if you and Johannes (or Tomas) could discuss/demonstrate the "sling shot" release (loose arm vs pull through? Advantages/disadvantages?
Hey, Charlie. Thank you for the tip. I´ll put it in the idea bank. Have a great day! /Jonathan
I use a mantra before many shots: “me, my disc, the basket”. Helps me to focus and block out thoughts, the others (what do they think of me) and most important maybe; the trees. If you focus is on “not hitting the tree”, then you hit it. “Me, my disc and basket” helps a lot to hit that line I want.
Good one! / Johannes
Everything you said, plus snacks and water... Gotta have snacks and water
Practice putting a lot at your max comfortable distance, and maybe a little beyond. See putts going in a lot before you try to be Eagle or Ricky deep in circle 2 and wreck all that confidence.😆
Nice video 👍🏻
Glad you liked it :)
I’ve always said it as “Don’t take advice from someone you wouldn’t trade places with.”
Also, I always bring beers. During or after is up to you.
Remember to enjoy the beautifull or amazing throws like awesome long annies (the most beautifull throw in disc golf I think)
And its allowed to enjoy of other players nice shots as well. This is what brings up the good spirit to all group 😎
be happy
Keep happy and smiling is also good. It makes other players feel good and that can be contatinous, like a virus you know… You start to feel happier and more relaxed because other feel happy and relaxed. Just because you were smiling!
You’re the best 🤣😍
I only play hole by hole, I never score a whole card, people around me have kept score but myself nope, it messes with my mind.
Love your videos!!
Thank you ❤
I’m pretty bad at doing good but I’m top rated in the world for having fun.💪🏼
Remember to drink/bring plenty of water. They always take longer then a normal round.
I want to know where this man gets it ink I love that fractal sleeve

That’s a badass shirt there, jonthan! How do I score one of those beauties?

All I can think about is the Swanson Pyramid of Greatness.
Haha I cant remember this while watching the series.
