I played my first PDGA sanctioned tournament and it was a ton of fun. Well some of it. I actually struggled a lot here and there with shoulder pain and bad drives and shoulder pain. Also also, terrible putting. Maybe it was the nerves or the lack of practice. However things started to look brighter during round two. Hope you´ll enjoy the video. Do let me know what you think about the "format". Is it too self centered? A little bit?

A bit about me if you´re wondering:
I started at Latitude 64° a bit over a year ago and been trying to learn the sport of disc golf and making videos of that process from that day onwards. Before that I hadn´t even heard of disc golf. So it´s been a really great and fun experience so far (still feel I have a lot to learn, tho) watching and learning from the people around me at work and the great tips from all of you guys. Thank you for that!

@hyzerponix yep my first 3 tournaments were rec and I plan on staying in Rex until I get to a point where I’m somewhat consistent and I know I can compete in the next division. Playing in rec is the most fun I’ve had in my life. The other people on my cards were so funny and nice

Recently won my first tournament (MA2). The whole time I reminded myself I was there to have fun and to just play casually. It really helped keep me in a good mental space where I wasn't being hard on myself for mistakes, or pressuring myself to make up for them on the next hole.
I took that same mentality to the next tournament... and won that one too. Don't underestimate how important the mental part of the game is. Take some pressure off of yourself and remember why you're out there: because you love the sport and have fun playing it.

Honestly makes my top 5 DG-related UA-cam channels for a long time now. Everyone who has ever played more than one round of disc golf relates to the journey you're on Jonathan. That's what makes it so attractive. Also Johannes, Johannes makes it attractive.
It would be great to see more tournament play in the future, and maybe some workshop type videos with some of Latitude's pros teaching you some specific tricks of theirs.

@9:59 , @13:33 These are the main differences between the first and the second round! Look at how controlled you were being with these putts, and sticking/ committing to the follow through! The first round you seemed to be jerking them a little bit, and dropping your arm as soon as you released the disc. Nice stuff, Jon-o! I'm sure we'll be seeing you on Jomez lead card coverage soon!

I think this is very helpful for people trying to get into the tournament scene. It took me 3 rounds at a tournament to figure out what you figured out in one round. Great vid!
I like the format. Knowing what discs you are throwing helps me know which disks to pick for certain shots as well. You've inspired me to play in a dc league next season. I also need to practice.

I really appreciate that you showed the score along with this. I watch your shows and others and always feel like wow I can’t do this. Today I was a +18 playing with my son. Actually, I would LOVE to see a best shot/worst shot alternating doubles tournament with you two. I recently played one and it was the most fun I have ever had at a tournament.
We´re actually gonna do a doubles video in the not so distant future. But the competition will be very very hard to beat.
OMG thank you for this video. I had my first PDGA tournament last weekend and it went just as good as your first round. In practice plays I was scoring cca PAR - same course but tournament rounds I failed completely. I scored +17/+16/+10 and ended up in last place with +43 after 3 rounds. No idea what happened.

Within 1 and half year, I was tied for am worlds.
Week later turned pro, cashed 1st tournament.
Tied prodigies owner.
I was so proud, practice everyday for 4 years straight. Never missed.

And way to go again Jonathan both for your play in the tournament ( your putter was on fire during that second round) and you're really really great edits on this series of videos Jonathan. I think my favorite video besides this amazing tournament video was you and Johannes playing in the snow with ribbons tape to your disks. I showed that video to my parents who knew little if anything about disc golf and they still very much enjoyed it. Maybe we'll give to see you play a snow tournament and a couple of months.

Oh man this brings back bad memories on my first tournament as well couple weeks ago. I played well during my 1st round but badly on my 2nd round. Felt really shitty after the round and i felt like throwing my discs into the bin haha.

Great vid! Good job on round 2. I had a similar experience my first sanctioned tourney. Round 1 was horrible. I was in last place at the end. Round 2, I shot the hot round of my division. I got my nerves calmed down going in to round 2 so it helped a lot. I don't know how often you practice, but I play 4-6 times a week, with field work and you're still better than me I think. I started around the same time your videos kicked off as well. Keep killing it out there!

In the second round, you were speaking a lot more Swedish. That made it clear that you were more focused on the game and less focused on the camera. Really solid job man, keep it coming!
