I remember watching my brother play this game when we were kids. He died last year of a brain tumor and this brought back all those memories.

1998 I was 13 and stayed up till 4am watching my friend's older bro play this with a whole bunch of us kids sleeping over for my friend's bday. Pizza, soda, sleeping bags, parents out of sight and Re2 on PS1. What a night that was.
I know this comment is 9 months old but I just wanted to say that this is such a wholesome memory to have-- I was born in 1996 so I didn't get to experience the 90s but this genuinely sounded like such a great time. What a great era.

Not sure if anyone realizes how good this player is. His timing and accuracy on his shots are incredible.
He's amazing, no doubt
But the shooting isn't what shows it, half the shooting/aiming is done for you and is quite forgiving - however, their knowledge of the game, what is coming, what they will need when and where is where the skill is - and if we're talking about combat skill, knifing that zombie at the start with no damage taken was the real boss fight
It really shows in his RE3 playthrough and his fights with nemesis too

Those Resident Evil 2 pictures on the game cd case really scared me, especially the front image of the zombie peeking out of the corner.

For me the static camera angles is what set the first three RE games apart from everything else. It enhanced the claustrophobia, immersion, and atmosphere, and also made these games age so much better than their contemporaries.
I agree. Something about the fixed camera was what made these games what they are. Surprised there aren't more games today like this for mobile phones.... I couldn't see them being hard to make.
Didn't like Nemesis, but I did Love part 4.
@@cwoza5 Making the game with fixed angles requires a lot of handwork, drawing and rendering. CG-backgrounds are very challenging to make. And you can play the whole game through in a less than 3 hours. With a 3D-engine and motion capture developers make longer games with cinematic cutscenes. RE4 is a great game. But RE1-3 are still the best.

A true professional. Never stop making these gameplays that are a great contribution to those of us who are from the 90s and grew up with the ps1.
They're also great if you'd like to see what happens in the game, but don't feel like dealing with jank-ass PS1 mechanics. That's my scenario.

Difficult to explain how amazing these graphics looked back in the day. Probably the prettiest game that had come out that gen up to that point.

Original RE 2 Leon is the ultimate Chad. I mean, he faces an unprecedented outbreak of zombies and other infernal monsters and he always remains so surprisingly calm and collected as if it all were just a training course lol.

When I first started playing this game, I didn't have a memory card. I HAD to learn to play without saving! It took many many attempts, but I got good at it. If I recall correctly, to get the highest ranking of "S" you also have to beat it in less than one hour thirty minutes.

Hard to believe how much i loved this game while looking at it now compared to the new remake..any kids watching this trust me,it may not look exciting to you,but back when it was first released this game was THEE SHIT!! 💯

Cuz it was a different era of gaming..playstation was unique system when it came out. We thought that was the shit Cuz all we had was Super Nintendo and Sega genisis..the new RE2 remake was just as good but in different ways..the new re engine is way better than any RE they made..The graphics..the dialogue..me personally I think they did good by taking out the crows and spiders..they wanted it more realistic. But RE2 is probably one of the best horror game besides Silent Hill. Always a classic. Re3 remake is dope too. People just complain alot. Half these mfs weren't even alive when this game came out.
This is my favorite game and not to knock in the remake, but it didn’t captivate the same way this did. This game’s atmosphere, sound effects and of course beautiful soundtrack is just vastly superior to the remake... And don’t get me wrong, I love the remake and it’s my second favorite after this one, but nostalgia will always kick its ass.
Played the remake for some reason this version is creepier.

What's also badass is that the old school music is DLC in the 2019 remake of RE2. It should have been included in the game, but the OST DLC is only $2.99 USD. The old school music is where it's at =].

Watching this walkthrough reminds me of the 90s was the last great decade.

I remember finding this game in my uncle's playstation, back in 98, when I was ten. I was like nothing I had ever played, and I was hooked! My mother didn't want me to play it, because I was "killing people", at which point my uncle said, "they're zombies, not people. And that car game you got him, Autodestruct? Yeah, he can run people over in that." My uncle won that argument, and I got to play. We would be on his screened in back porch, at midnight, with only a handful of bullets, no health items, on caution and no clue where to go. We were both scared shitless! Lol.
Kids today have no clue how hard these games really are/were. We didn't get to move with the gun aimed, didn't get to counter attack, didn't get to cycle through weapons with the D-pad, could only point in the general direction of an enemy, no auto-saves, no dodge moves... It was HARD!!! Oh, and the characters never moved well enough with the analog stick, so you better get comfy with the D-pad really quick! No stealth either. You had to tap and release the D-pad furiously so you character wouldn't take a full step, though keeping you from making any foot fall sounds.

Yeah well I'm a 15 yr old 'kid today' and I absolutely love the original Resident Evil games! They are so atmospheric; the soundtrack and the idea of not knowing what's around the next corner is amazing. Imo RE3 is the best of the originals just because I love the addition of Nemesis and how his character works and Jill is probably my favourite RE character. Also I loved every playthrough, trying to get all 8 epilogues. But overall, while every Resident Evil game is really fun and creative, the originals hold a special place in my heart. They have aged so well

My family was the first to aquire a PS1 in my hometown back in the 90's
i remember my brother playing RE 2 and his friends from school were blown away by the graphics lol
Good memories watching my brother play this masterpiece, and also having his help to progress when i wanted to play it a few years later
Now i finished the game like 8 times, but i still hold the memories from my childhood, when my mother didn't allow me to play the game (i could only watch my brother play it from time to time)

I used to play this. My younger brother would watch and help with puzzles. I remember when Ada Wong died we said nothing for ages .we were in shock .this is great
This brings back memories of 98-99, at times my cousin was stuck babysitting me and he'd play this. I was maybe 10, he was in his late 20s. Told me not to tell my parents. The game terrified me at that time but now gives a warm nostalgic feeling.

@@Ibrahim-ec7mm its not the same for everyone. But the background sounds to the outer balcony where the helicopter crashes. The zombies howling in the distance. The birds cawing in the distance. Also the zombie noises from re2 were far more scarier then anything in the remake
This still is one of the GOAT games. I remember it giving me nightmares for weeks as a kid in the 90s. The pre-rendered backgrounds and static camera ingeniously made the game seem as if the player is watching the events happen in a security camera room. That is what I enjoyed about it so much.
Man i remember me my brother and sisters used to play this when we were younger. We played it at night time with all the lights off. Man it was spooky as hell. Especially opening those doors cause you didn't know what to expect.

Not sure kids today can appreciate these games and how they felt. The leaps in video games were so big in so short a time, that games like these were literally mind blowing. Just 7-8 years earlier you were playing 8 bit Nintendo games, to be playing this was well beyond exciting.

Honestly, they don't make games like this anymore. The true horror atmosphere. The creepy music, not being able to see what's on the other side of the door.
Seeing this again brings back memories of how much fun this was. Now the remake of it takes the fear to a whole new level of danger.
Leon and Clarie will always be remembered for this.

Man you make Resident Evil 2 look easy I've beat this game quite a few times but I still use herbs I have been trying to study what you do i still love playing this one
ive played this game a lot and found it the easiest way to complete, yes im sure the content creator done his homework too... its more "experience skill" than "good at controler" i believe, just like life...
In my opinion, there were 6 games that made it cool and dope to play Playstation and N64 in the late 90s. I mean there were others, but these are the 6 best for N64 and Playstation combined.

I was 13 when this came out in 1998. I spent many a nights playing this game with friends. Everyone I knew from school and my neighborhood played this game. It was very very popular.

i was so happy to see you run thru the beginning and not pick anything up and get the brad zombie with the special key, nice work man, my favorite little easter egg.
Plus it was really clever the way the makers linked Resident Evil 2 and 3 by showing how he became a zombie in 3. The Nemesis got him.
I remember my friend who lived across the street showing me this.. i was maybe 9 years old. The part I remember most was when the zombie arms busted through the wood and tried to grab you.. I threw the controller up in the air hahaha 😆 man I wish I could go back to those days so bad
I always felt that was a reference to Dawn of the Dead. The part when the SWAT team raid the apartment building and then loads of zombies come busting through the barricade 😂

These games bring back so many memories. I remember playing RE1 and I was at the sewer part with the big spiders. I felt a tickle on my leg and jumped up (even lifting my desk and the small tv in the process). Turns out it was just the dog sniffing me.

when I finished this game I remember how proud I felt ! had no idea gameplay was only 2.5 hrs ! THANKS TurkishBullet
If you know exactly what you're doing you can beat all the RE games really fast, but I'm sure my first playthrough was over twice this long!

It was 2003 and I was only 6 years old when i saw my cousins playing this game. My life was never be the same, I had nightmares that night, but I actually enjoy that experience so much.
