Not because Kendall was vindictive and would kill Vaulter in revenge --- even in this episode, Kendall was still fighting for Vaulter because the acquisition of Vaulter was one of his biggest goals while he was in charge. Instead, Lawrence doomed Vaulter because his petty refusal to support Kendall's leadership led to the ouster of the biggest cheerleader that Vaulter had on Waystar Royco's Board of Directors.
The more I rewatch the scene, the more it makes me realize that Roman could never do what Kendall just did. Standing before an entire business and firing every single employee without stuttering is not at all something Roman could do. He couldn’t even vote against Logan during the vote of no confidence.
I'm sure Roman could make the decision from the safety of a conference room and harvest some skulls, but you're right, it's doubtful he'd have the balls to actually do it in person.

I didn’t think I liked Strong’s acting at first. I was very critical. But it’s what kept drawing me back to the show; I just wanted to see if he improved. Then I realized I disliked him so much that it was the character that was bothering me and he was doing his job tremendously well
Also the comments made by Laurence after Kendalls dad had brain hemorrhage were unacceptable. Especially considering Laurence was using shady tactics to massively inflate their numbers.

Completely agree. Season 1 was finding its identity and season 2 has propelled it into the elite category of well-written shows. It would be more popular if HBO put more of its advertising budget into Succession instead of Westworld (hyped for Season 3, but Season 2 was a let down personally).

I’ve never seen someone play lack of emotion so well. You need to see how he was in season 1 to see how tragic it is to see him like this. Jeremy Strong deserved his Emmy for this scene.
Kendall really did believe in Vaulter. But Lawrence screwed him on the acquisition and boardroom vote. Even when trying to save them from being gutted they were hostile, wasted his time with unorganized data, and voted to unionize. He gave up a piece of his dignity acquiring and defending them and it was satisfying to see him take his dignity back here.
Sorry but this is such a misread in my opinion. Kendall didn't want to gut Vaulter. There's the scene with him, Logan and Roman where he goes to bat for them, but Logan says no and tells Kendall what to do. This scene is showing Kendall at his lowest point of dignity. Being a little lapdog for his father. Which of course sets up his arc for season 2 and the eventual finale, where he gains the confidence to break from his father again.

I love Kendall. There are moments like this when he's a shit, but he's still far and away the most sympathetic character. Underneath the douchery, he's kind and vulnerable. The show deliberately makes you root for him. Everyone raves about Kieran Culkin, but Jeremy Strong is a FAR more nuanced actor.
I kinda loved this moment tho. Lawrence was a shady underachieving bitch who belittled and emasculated Kendall over and over. Obviously this moment isn’t very sweet Bc Kendall didn’t even want to do this but was forced to, but I was happy to see Lawrence get what he deserved

Kendall at this point in the show needed to find what little scraps of victory he could. The f**k you to Lawrence, partying at Greg's, stealing the batteries - those were the only things he could do to feel like he was on top again.
From 2:12 to 2:37 is my fav scene. It actually gave me goosebumps first time i watched it. Everyone is such a good actor but hands down Jeremy Strong shines all above them (my opinion). This scene makes him so fucking real and raw and while the camera gets closer it shows he doesn't care about anything at the moment or anybody. He doesn't care what happens to himself and Jeremy portrayed that SO darn good. Best fucking tv show of this decade with the best actors.

While Logan 'slowly' manipulate's Shiv into unraveling her intentions, Kendall is destroying everything he built in order to out strategize his father's blackmail, I already see Kendall blackmailing Gregg as part of his upcoming scheme. We shall see. .
*Spoilers* I found it really sad to see the way Logan reels in Shiv with the promises of power and basically ruins her. At the outside Shiv seems to be the most normal Roy -- she's intelligent, ambitious and -- most importantly -- independent. The only way you can have a relatively normal life as a Roy is to sidestep Logan's games such that he has minimal leverage. By the end of Season 2, Logan's got Shiv dancing like a puppet. All of the self-assuredness has gone; she's spending most of her time trying to second-guess what Logan wants. She barely has his ear, never mind his approval. Her senator leverage has gone. She's burnt her political bridges to prove her loyalty, too. Nothing but the family now. She's fucked.

This is an amazing scene. But people miss the underlying tragedy. Vaulter was not Ken's to decide what to do with. He had no chance to save it even after doing whatever he could. So this is him, being totally out of control, but choosing to be the herald of bad news and owning the role. So he is tearing up on the inside. But there is also his lack of empathy for all the staff members that he genuinely doesn't care about. Ken is a jerk. This is him being sad because he is being punished by his dad, and his favourite toy is being taken away and he is the one told to take it and throw it away, and he realizes he never really had it and never really will. This is Kendall adapting, because it is survival of the fittest for him now and he hates it but knows it is the best he might ever get. And this is him sticking it to Lawrence in a small moment of retaliation that he can enjoy among all the crap he is eating. But also it proves that Lawrence was right all along, because he deeply cared about his staff and his company and regardless of his cocky attitude and rudeness, he couldn't do anything to keep them safe from the Roys. So Lawrence is proven right at the end, even though we were cheering for the deal to happen and cheering for Kendall - we had been hoaxed.
After this all I can do is be surprised that I was surprised at the season finale...dude was cold and calculating when all the lights were on him, what a killer

Kendall really did believe in Vaulter. But Lawrence screwed him on the acquisition and boardroom vote. Even when trying to save them from being gutted they were hostile, wasted his time with unorganized data, and voted to unionize. He gave up a piece of his dignity acquiring and defending them and it was satisfying to see him take his dignity back here.
Sorry but this is such a misread in my opinion. Kendall didn't want to gut Vaulter. There's the scene with him, Logan and Roman where he goes to bat for them, but Logan says no and tells Kendall what to do. This scene is showing Kendall at his lowest point of dignity. Being a little lapdog for his father. Which of course sets up his arc for season 2 and the eventual finale, where he gains the confidence to break from his father again.
True, Logan made the call, but the chicken coop line was a direct callback to S1E1. Lawrence deserved that.

I love Kendall. There are moments like this when he's a shit, but he's still far and away the most sympathetic character. Underneath the douchery, he's kind and vulnerable. The show deliberately makes you root for him. Everyone raves about Kieran Culkin, but Jeremy Strong is a FAR more nuanced actor.

This was karmic for him to make a point of "because my dad told me to" it really translates too "if I were in charge this wouldnt have happened"
Kendall at this point in the show needed to find what little scraps of victory he could. The f**k you to Lawrence, partying at Greg's, stealing the batteries - those were the only things he could do to feel like he was on top again.

From 2:12 to 2:37 is my fav scene. It actually gave me goosebumps first time i watched it. Everyone is such a good actor but hands down Jeremy Strong shines all above them (my opinion). This scene makes him so fucking real and raw and while the camera gets closer it shows he doesn't care about anything at the moment or anybody. He doesn't care what happens to himself and Jeremy portrayed that SO darn good. Best fucking tv show of this decade with the best actors.

I just love the first 7 seconds and the montage of it. It shows you in an instant a helicopter ride and motorcycle drive through a busy city and avoiding traffic in a hurry. Well crafted.

He refused to back Kendall when he was gunning for the CEO after Waystar became majority shareholder of Vaulter. Then Logan decided to gut Vaulter because it was the deal that Kendall made. Lawrence literally fucked himself when he didn't back Kendall. That lead to this moment.

I found it really sad to see the way Logan reels in Shiv with the promises of power and basically ruins her. At the outside Shiv seems to be the most normal Roy -- she's intelligent, ambitious and -- most importantly -- independent. The only way you can have a relatively normal life as a Roy is to sidestep Logan's games such that he has minimal leverage.
By the end of Season 2, Logan's got Shiv dancing like a puppet. All of the self-assuredness has gone; she's spending most of her time trying to second-guess what Logan wants. She barely has his ear, never mind his approval. Her senator leverage has gone. She's burnt her political bridges to prove her loyalty, too. Nothing but the family now. She's fucked.

this just goes to show how many innocent people will suffer at the hands of capitalism so a few rich men can "throw jabs" at each other
This is an amazing scene. But people miss the underlying tragedy. Vaulter was not Ken's to decide what to do with. He had no chance to save it even after doing whatever he could. So this is him, being totally out of control, but choosing to be the herald of bad news and owning the role. So he is tearing up on the inside. But there is also his lack of empathy for all the staff members that he genuinely doesn't care about. Ken is a jerk. This is him being sad because he is being punished by his dad, and his favourite toy is being taken away and he is the one told to take it and throw it away, and he realizes he never really had it and never really will. This is Kendall adapting, because it is survival of the fittest for him now and he hates it but knows it is the best he might ever get. And this is him sticking it to Lawrence in a small moment of retaliation that he can enjoy among all the crap he is eating. But also it proves that Lawrence was right all along, because he deeply cared about his staff and his company and regardless of his cocky attitude and rudeness, he couldn't do anything to keep them safe from the Roys. So Lawrence is proven right at the end, even though we were cheering for the deal to happen and cheering for Kendall - we had been hoaxed.
If this were the Bada Bing, can you imagine the staff’s reaction? “Oooooohhh!”
