You should also smear the inner lip of the seal with oil too thus preventing any wear on initial start up... (think of a dry shave with a wet razor)...

can you use the gasket that comes with the lower gasket kit for this part? or do you need to use the gasket maker. i would much rather use a gasket instead of make my own.

Excellent fix for a rear seal.

Maybe a dab of blue thread lock on those bolts. I fear if they back out at all, we're gonna have a geyser.

You didn't centralise the seal. Also I agree that the outside of the seal should not be oiled, that will encourage it to slip out as there is no lip on the carrier. This looks the same as the Morris Minor Centre kit, which over 15 years has never worked for me.

I would not oil the o/d of the seal. If anything, perhaps a very light smear of sealant. You don't want any chance of a leak at that interface!

Very informative but too wordy - you can skip the first nine minutes and still learn all you need to know.

All that talk and yet you Neglect to say It is not possible to get the 3 original seal bolts out without cutting down the heads because they foul on the Crank! Very convenient that you have them removed prior to starting the video. Why Not Be Honest?

Yes, well I also didn't mention that if your rear main bearing cap doesn't allow the rear seal holder to sit flush with the upper half it needs to be machined. There are directions that come with the kits that further explain these contingencies. For brevity's sake not every last detail is gone over and a certain amount of mechanical ability in the viewer is taken for granted.
