I agree with you, the people that is doing fun stuff are usually the invaders, the ganks and pvers usually use the strongest/popular weapons... same in BB, where I did pvp for 2 years... it's a question of mentality imo, I don't care anymore to win, sure I get mad sometimes in the moment, but that's it, all I want is to have fun! Great video Rendan, keep going buddy 🍻
I really wanted to include “mentality” somewhere in the title because I feel that’s what makes the difference in ER. Trying to have fun is the main point 😄
Much love Rendan. This commentary may as well be your channel thesis. One of your best, and one of the single best ER videos in general. Thank you for the wonderful insights as always.
I really feel like I’ve been building toward this point for a while and I’m thrilled it seems to have come across the way I wanted. Honor to have you all watch and enjoy each time 🙏🏼
Man Rendan this is really good. I’ve felt this fatigue for so long, and accurately describe it. I love Elden Ring, and I love invading, but it just feels like wasted effort. Perhaps I need to get better, or more patient, but it’s just sort of exhausting. Here’s hoping the DLC refreshes this game for everyone
I’m gonna take a small break for a week or two and play as I feel like it now that I know when dlc is releasing👌🏼
We will all collectively rejoice and gather again in the veiled lands, so don’t stress yourself if it doesn’t feel like the right time before then!
I get the exhausted feeling, trust me I know. I think everyone needs that refresh.
I love invading I always have. Like real life most instances are mundane or “the norm”. But those little moments that stand out, the compliment someone gave you, the promotion you got, or the unique build you saw, perhaps a creative gank squad.
But one thing that is and always has been unique is invading itself. I love that sort of interaction with other players.
Me too. I’ve never been hooked on a game mechanic so seriously before. Despite the drastic changes from game to game, I always find a reason to come back. I love it 👹
@@RENDAN_iel From game to game, it's mechanically so different that there's some annoying thing or boring setup people will fall to.
But I think overall the tools, the movement options like jumping, crouching, various additional charged attacks, and weapon customization have made making builds during the PvE more fun and PvP more liberating than ever.
But yeah overall it's your personal relationship with invading is all that matters, how other players my sour that here and there doesn't change the core.
Great video!
@@MeeplingMystery Pumped for expansion to add a couple dozen (or even more!) weird things to the mix 🤞🏼
Wouldn't do it unless it was fun, and when it stops being fun, I stop. Usually. Sometimes.
I like Saint's Choose Your own adventure invasion style, but Elden Ring doesn't give you much of a chance to react and make the adjustment necessary. You can estimate by sight but sometimes the offscreen moonveil comes just a little too early. But we all know this by now, most of all you.
Looking forward to the Sunday Morning vid.
I get the “Usually. Sometimes.” Prynne lol. I find it hard for some reason to just hit that exit game option after a series of really frustrating encounters. Not sure why, maybe I’m just looking for that rare fun fight constantly.
That’s a good point too, fast delete setups are WAY too easy to pull in this game and make adjusting REALLY difficult in certain situations. Guess I’ll need to get even faster 🫡
Never expect to hear anybody talk about Destiny's Sword logic vs Bomb logic philosophy in general let alone in an Elden Ring PvP video.
but it's surprisingly appropriate.
I had drifted away from ER for a while but recently just to clear it off my to-do list I finally finished editing my Darkest Dungeon inspired invasion builds video that had been sitting on my drives for months and it got me thinking again about going back to Invasions.
I definitely resonate most with Saint's "They will never get it and that's fine. I'm not doing this for them" mindset.
For me it's all about making something I personally think is cool or fun, and the raw efficacy or meta/optimization is very secondary.
I've never understood people playing this game which has effectively no rewards for winning and very little consequences for losing like it's an Esport.
Darkest Dungeon theme is really cool as an idea 👌🏼. Yeah, I will squeeze what I can out of the builds I make, but it’s all in the service of making the fun things I want to try as good as possible.
I don’t know what finally made me correlate the destiny bomb logic with Buildmaking in ER, but it was like an “Ah hah!” moment when it came together lol.
Good stuff, Rendan.
Thank you Sir Pinco 🫡
I’m glad this video has been well received.
Illicit explosive instructions aside, this was a fantastic video that I'm really really happy you made, might be my favorite video of yours actually. While Elden Ring provides us with so many different options for builds, I feel like build making is more restrictive than ever because you need to be able to survive some pretty absurd things our output enough damage to kill some pretty absurd opponents. And honestly, maybe that's part of the challenge of this game, something we'll look back on as something to be embraced? I'm not entirely sure, but I'm glad we have people who are as emotionally intelligent and thoughtful as you that can analyze those feelings and create videos like this. Great job all around Mr Rendaniel
The whole video I was saying to myself "Ooo I gotta make a build with Godrick's Axe" right up until you mentioned that the Hyper Armor on it doesn't work, but thank you for fixing it with Endure. Fromsoft better credit you in the next series of patch notes for fixing their weapon smh.
Also the shoutout for the Crescent Axe is much appreciated
Yeah, I don’t think we’ll truly know if we will feel like this was a challenge to be overcome or endured until we’re past dlc and moved on to the next fromsoftware PvP experience. Overall, it doesn’t matter, as I view it as a treat to be able to share these ups and downs with a really solid community like we have in the respite. Appreciate the invite I received every single day Mr. Gyrm 🥂
Axe of Godrick is awesome, it just needs a little help at the moment and I still encourage people to try it with a softswap endure option (it’s super satisfying to get the AoW launch kills).
I meant what I said about the crescent axe video, I love that weapon/playstyle and It’s so much fun to use. It’s right up there in instructional content with the best to me💪🏼
Great video as always bro....love the build your using in this video ❤
The script for this video was so well writtem and spoken (if it was even a script). You speek so well and some of the points you spoke about where very thought provoking!!!
Really excellent video mate!
Thanks for checking it out Brtrude! Reception to this one has been pretty good and I really appreciate it 👹💣
It was definitely a script, there’s no way I’m that eloquent off the cuff haha 😆
@@RENDAN_iel either way it was awsome I watched it from start to finish!!! I 100 percent agree with everything you said in this video!
I will be sure that to tell the judge during my judicial hearing that it was Rendan who encouraged me to make the bombs
If you’re on trial for making a cool Elden Ring bomb build, I’ll plead guilty 🫡
good stuff...
hope you are
EXCITED!!! :D
INDEED : D !!!!
Thanks for watching Juno 🙏🏼💣
Great perspective man, spot on
I love and live to make fun unique builds here, I can make a fantasy character of my choosing and fight others' fantasy characters, that shit has no price, and it isn't in any other game besides LotF (excited to see what CIgames develops next)
Frustrations are there, sometimes I legit want to punch them noob RoV spammers in the teeth; but then I realize that if I join the dark side of PvP, I'll be making it worse for everybody, and thus I stick to my weird builds, because it's fun
I’m hoping to finish lords of the fallen, as I fell off a little bit at the beginning because of the technical issues. I really try to keep things in perspective and step away if I’m getting too frustrated with the game. Taking a nice week or so vacation now that the video is done to play some other things for a bit 😎
I love this. Thank you for your commentary
Thanks for checking it out 😃 I’ll try to keep em coming.
@@RENDAN_iel I really appreciate the way you talk about things. It's both grounding and inspiring. Plus I love your fun(mean) builds
@@KaedNinescarred I’ll try to continue living up to that, as I want to make the kind of content I would connect to if I were watching 👍🏼
Great video bro definitely something to think about
Thanks for watching, as it took some time to make 😆
For the thrill, of course! It feels great to put down 3 players.
I use power stance grave scythes as my bomb, and a great epee with stormblade as my sword whenever I meet the meta men, both bleed infusion.
PSGS are actually something I’ve never done but had several people recommend. May have to try those ; )
to most people though building a bomb boils down to finding a weapon they like and pumping stats into the according dmg type. and thats fine i think. it's exectly for that reason that i enjoy building bombs.😊 sounds crazy haha
I agree with that. I think as long as people are experimenting and building towards something cool the point is the same ☝🏼👹
RECORD OF LODOSS WAR YEEESSS
Alright, this video is incredible, dense, insightful, and honestly has me fired up to keep making my 🅱️0mz
I've been thinking about this since you posted that JM video last week, and I'm glad you made this, this is absolutely what the community needs right now.
I just try to make things I would want to hear, but with that dash of necessary realism. It takes soooo long to express it the right way though lol. The bomb logic is something I feel like I’ve always correlated but didn’t have enough experience under my belt to make a full topic on. This felt like the right time 💣
Also, I’ll watch record of lodoss war this weekend lol.
😎 Vibing to slave knight gael OST😎
You say something? Sorry, vibing too hard.
Nothing too important. Feel free to keep vibing 🤟🏼
@RENDAN_iel 🤣 but seriously if you wanna make dangitjm adjacent(ish) content you'll farm me for views effectively.
@@TifffanyTaylor You caught me. Guilty as charged 😶🌫️
Good video dude gonna go Google how to make my own bomb now thanks!
Just avoid UA-cam guides on it ; )
I cannot believe you hit the full heavy attack on the ornemental straight sword. Can I ask how often that’s able to happen? I was always turned away because I know it’s not a true combo
Decently often. I tend to initiate it out of the R2 hitstun or when players rolled as a roll catch and it works pretty well. Sometimes it wouldn’t land, but I hit it plenty of times with the right timing and a little anticipation ☝🏼
Sometimes, I would just lightly hold the r2 to mix it up for a shorter amount of the pokes and a faster R2 double thrust at the end.
For added reference, I also have thorny cracked tear and Millicent’s Prosthesis so damage has “POTENTIAL” to get pretty ridiculous.
@@RENDAN_ielhitting the full combo puts you at tier 3 out of 4 for both thorny and prosthesis buff. Idk why I didn’t go and make a build with that
I'm so stupid I didn't understand what a bomb is 😭
💣 🗡️ 🫨
currently making my claymore bomb 😎
Keep at it 💪🏼
your damage stats are pretty low on these rl 80 builds, i've been wanting to make this build work, it's a pyromancer build but because dismounter is my favorite weapon it's got 19/16 str/dex and the best i can do is 40/40 vig/faith, sometimes it feels like i'm lacking in both categories,
been thinking of making it a str build with a fire dismounter/other fire weapons/weapon arts and using a high level character for the pyromancer build, but maybe i should just add another five levels, drop some faith and add some vig
Both of the main choices I’m using are uninfusable, quality weapons on mid level builds with restricted stat investments. Big damage won’t be there but that’s also not my aim. More the combination of things together to make them work.
It looks like flame art Dismounter gets around 567 dmg on a RL 80 build with 40/40 Vigor and faith (+17). Fire with same spread but in STR has an AR of 545 but you lose access to incantations. May be better off with faith and then you also get giantsflame take thee with talismans like Godfrey icon and Flocks Canvas Talisman/two fingers heirloom for pretty serious damage 🤔
Offhand thrusting sword and fun? Nooo lol.
You’re right. Make something more fun than me ; )
@@RENDAN_iel I usually invade with strongly themed builds, RP characters basically. Is fun. Never invade at meta level though, constant ganks or people walking into malenia's arena get boring. 80 is the best level to invade at IMO.
@@warden_moss I watch other invaders stream at meta and I’m never tempted. I did at the start of ER and I will in dlc, but no desire right now.
@@RENDAN_iel when the DLC comes out make a throwing weapon only guy with the new daggers! Be the Stormveil castle assassin 👀
@@warden_moss I think someone else I know may be doing that build already, but we’ll see ; )
It's 100% stockholm, Duelling is the worst form of pvp, but it's what I fall into all the time because overworld invasions suck absolute ass, or at least they do for me, Idon't have too much experience in it, but when I do, it's typically characterised by running through a dead map because the game thought it expedient to spawn me close to, but multiple levels removed from the host, who has long moved on by the time I get to where they are. Arenas are at least up front. Pvp, right now. It's just the 'people' there are more sweat than man. But co-oping is slow, and there's no endgame pve content to speak of.
this video is such a lie by coping invader. As a solo host there are only 3 build for invaders:
1. heavy thrusting sword running attack spam
2. powerstance attack spam
3. "true combo weapon art" more commonly known as cheepass stunlock/1 shot achieved by 1/2 button presses (author of this video)
this is your "creative bomb" made by invaders. tell me how many hours of practice did it take you to master intricate 3 button presses LT -> soft swap (lmao) -> LT = stunlock anyone nearby.
also invaders are the same cowards as gangers, as soon as last flask goes out they will run until they can hide behind biggest pile of mobs and throw pots at you. You deserve eachother 100%
Did you watch the video?
@@RENDAN_iel yes, your "bomb" in question is finding yet another weapon to put storm assault/storm assault like stunlocking ash of war on. there is no war only self pity from invaders and excuses "at least my 1 shot is creative and not moonveil" "but I made it look pretty" "I have to use it because others use might use their 1 shots".
@@RENDAN_iel yes, your "bomb" is finding some new weapon to put stormcaller/stormcaller-like ash of war for easy stunlock/oneshot on. that is your creativity inventing moonveil again and again but instead of 2 moonveil buttons its 3. LT -> softswap (lmao) -> LT = easy damage. tell me how long did it take for you to master that one? you and gangers really do deserve each other
@@Виктор-ч7х1щ So you didn’t watch the video. As it’s about doing the exact opposite of that. Can’t reach people who don’t want to be reached, I guess 🥂
@@RENDAN_iel bro be honest have you watched your video? you are using stormcaller while moaning about braindead metaslaving. and the "bomb" you are showing on latter footages works the same as stormcaller. bro you are not bringing intricacy into the game you are inventing moonveil time after time. depth and mindgames of positioning and hitbox priority? bro that the blade approach I am creative look: press endure to become unpunishable the press stormcaller-light for stunlock. dude you are on the same level as double moonveils, double crossnaginatas etc.
Invasions are cool, but I wish we could turn them off. Like me and my buddy like to just explore together, but most of the time we don't cause by playing together its just constant invasions. It has its place, but we just wanna explore without having to deal with it
I think Fromsoftware is “trying” to find the best balance over time to solve this. The problem is the longevity of the games are directly tied to multiplayer and if you start splitting that up more, the game slows down sooner which has been noticeable from Dark Souls 3. I’ll agree that constant invasions can be annoying, but more than that, it’s the type of invaders you get and the people you invade that can make it less fun to deal with. I’m sympathetic to this though. I do understand 👌🏼
@@RENDAN_iel Cheers, I would enjoy the invaders more if they were more varied and interesting. Worst example was about a year ago when me and my friend were just being constantly ambushed by Rivers builds whilst trying to climb ruin strewn
@@solidshot7849 ahhhh yeah that sucks 😅
