Elden Ring is such a great game. It is one of the few games that people beat and then find fun in just general gameplay. As opposed to games requiring new content to be fun.
Oil just increases any Fire damage taken by a percentage, just like standing in water makes you take more Lightning damage. FDS buffs fire damage so they should stack since Oil affects your resistence whilst FDS affects your fire damage. I think oil is a one hit use though so save for a big hit
I usually just use a capped lvl 200 to NG+ the game over and over again on a STR/ARC, helps for farming and grabbing one-time items, then just have my friend carry my items over to other low level characters if the build is something like Duel Serpant Gods Curved Swords
I farmed 2 of those magma swords and it took forever, even with max arcane. As for dropping items, the only items I have dropped are things I pass to myself using a friend.
Even though it looks like it increases item drops, it doesnt help that much, if anything its a very minor buff. Only way for max ARC to be good for farming is combining it with Silver Scarab Talisman and Silver Pickeled Foul Foot

I have not but I would love to play the old ones if they'd put them on switch or something. The new ones voice acting is a major turn off but the game play looks great.
I dunno, the problem I see is that characters in FE are only really distinguished by their personality. A named axe guy is only different from a generic axe guy because he has a name and gets some dialogue. He might have slightly better base stats than the generic guy, but that's not something which is apparent in any way except for damage calculations. As far as translating to ER goes, the situation gets worse. Take Marth. Most of the game you use him with a rapier. That's it. He gets Falchion and the shield. But in terms of ER, this is literally just a straight sword with a medium shield. The things that make Falchion and the Fire Emblem special are their ability to seal/kill dragons. Otherwise, they're just a sword and shield. Maybe you have some ideas I'm not thinking of but in terms of my experience with both properties, especially thinking in terms of a pvp context, making an FE build in ER is more a matter of role playing than it is one of making a useful build that distinguishes a character.
I'm working on my 2nd PSN Builds/Characters today. Got my first 10 Builds/Characters sorted out on my Primary PSN, just gotta finish the 10 Builds/Characters and I'll call it good, dont have the energy or desire to do anymore. I complete NG and NG+ with each one so that's a lot of full playthroughs lol, 40 playthroughs is crazy for a game of this size.
Regarding the Prelate Pumpkin, it is possible they are a 125 meta. RL80 invade hosts upward that can in turn naturally summon from the 125 pool. RL77 invader is the breakpoint that it won't happen.
With how much raw damage that prelate guy was doing while also boasting full heavy armor equip, AND HEALTH (meaning investment in both endurance and vigor) they're prob just 300+ or something. Simply because water ups your fire resist, and the dude still wiped like half of saint's healthbar in one running l1, while using split scaling, split damage weapon.
@@oodytheodd You can consider also that saint is not a strength build and has lower base physical resist despite the split, and that a natural (unscaled) phantom keeps his full +25 weapon upgrade values. I didn't see the phantom throw out any capabilities that wouldn't fit on a RL125 build. I've seen a number of cases where SL80 invaders call out a phantom seeming absurdly strong, and the runes-on-kill pegged them at RL125. Again, just something to consider when you arbitrarily pick RL80 because you like round numbers.

And 125 is already kinda 45 levels ahead of our invader lvl, huh? Not exactly a number to sneer at in terms of an advantage. Now... To reach the BARE minimum requirements of all the stuff that the "Prelate Guy" was casting, and we're assuming that it's done with as less levels to spent in mind as we possibly can: + 46 endurance, to wear Prelate armor+Legs+Lionel Gauntlets+Bumpkin head and magma swords. Along with talismans for dex and faith, Great Jar and Erdtree+2 for weight and health. We assume that his seal has 0 weight for the sake of the arguement. And the fucking Distinguished Shield (a greatshiled, 17 weight oof) "softswap" to top it all off. + 33 mind (uh oh) to cast, in sequence, with no blue sippie cup= Black Flame protection (30) + Protection of the Erdtree Blessing of the Erdtree (30) + Erdtree Heal (+65) + Blessing of the Erdtree (60) = 185. We reach 189 at 33 mind. This puts a big doubt in my mind that our fellow is a min maxer AT ALL. No duelist I know spents more than, at worst, 25 mind. And then it's also fullcaster. + 37 faith (with two finger tali) to meet the bare min requirements for Erdtree Heal. Now, with all that - we do have 113 lvls... if we don't invest in either dex, or VIGOR AT ALL. And that fellah does have vigor. He has a shitton of it, actually, for 500 hp to barely tingle him. Like, at the VERY LEAST we can give him 1700~ ish, which is 50 vigor. And now we're suddenly at lvl 148. And at that point - ain't no way he's at 125, it's impossible. That all assuming that the man is a min max god that will be satisfied with 580dmg on each of his wyrmblades at that high of a level. Max upgrade. And I kinda doubt that 580 SPLIT weapon, on WATER, unbuffed, against a person who raised VIGor, will deal half of hp bar in one go. I don't know exact number of Saint's hp to calculate shit there. There can be a mistake here and there, but I hope that my point is clear. Along with the guy softswapping into a shield, spamming def miracles - I generally refuse to believe that he's using any "going full optimization duelist build". And we "just" aim to reach bare minimum here, not excell in anything.
@@oodytheodd The RL80 invader invades a Host of RL105-108, the Host can in turn non-password summon a Cooperator of RL125-128. I missed noticing the shield swap in the midst of the explosion, apologies, there's no way this was a RL125 build, but the host was RL107, which made the scenario initially plausible. I don't have much info on downscaling, but I could also speculate it being a case of the host being WL19+, and summoning a WL25 doesn't cause the coop to downscale due to it being in the natural weapon match range; a WL14 invader could invade said host. Ultimately the point is to be cognizant that even natural cooperators can have a huge level/weapon advantage over an invader due to a host summoning from the upper limit, and be aware of the possible scenarios when choosing your invader level.

Do oil pots work well with FDS? Or do they buff only the first "tick" of damage?
