What I did:
Print out labels on heat transfer paper (mirrored/flipped)
Cut up heat transfer paper labels
Cut cotton strips double the size of your design
Make a bias binding type strip with the cotton using the iron
Heat iron to cotton setting and press (while moving) for 20-30 seconds. Trial and error recommended to figure out best outcome for you.
(optional) Using a Heat press, press for 20 seconds on 180 degrees.
Peeling when transfer paper is cool leaves a glossy finish where as if you peel while still hot its a different texture. Work out what is best for you.
Trim off excess and cut leaving enough room to sew into garment or accessory
Tip:
✧ Always trial different heats and times to find the best outcome for you.
✧ Do wash tests prior to placing on garments that require machine wash
✧ Make sure you buy the right heat transfer paper for the correct printer
Where I buy my paper: www.pictureper...
Look up a bias tape maker, they have them in like 25mm widths, you feed the strip through and "walk" your iron towards it, then pull it down the fabric more. It works great, and they're pretty cheap. It's just a little cone-ish thing that folds the ends in for you. Then you wouldnt have to cut the fabric strip in half and could just work your way down the whole strip
i was about to say the same :)
Genius thank you !👍
I’ve done my labels myself for years, but I iron onto twill tape, so I don’t have to fold and iron the long edges. I only fold under the ends and sew on.
ohh that's a great idea!!
I haven't made my own labels ever (I used to have them printed for me), but mine were on a satin ribbon. Easy to just cut the length and sew the raw edges to the seams.
This looked so easy I might want to try and make my own labels just for fun, and I'll try it on satin ribbon (no folding&ironing the edges). :)
Where do you purchase your transfer paper from please hun? Can u get it at Officeworks?
@@meldoyle9986 you can get it at any office supply store, craft store, or Amazon.

i litterally just binge watch you all dayyyyy i’m starting my buisness next month :))
i know u have started ur business but good luck with it
Me too. She makes the best tutorials. Some videos I've watched several times. Let me know how you business is going if you don't mind.😊. Best of luck to you.👍♥️😊
I really love your work. I discovered this trick, making your own labels, however, I use 22mm ribbon - works a treat. I do like the way you make your labels. I do not have a heat press. I use an iron. Thank you for sharing, Taylor.
Wow you make your own labels! That’s amazing ❤🎉
I love this channel - your information is so accessible yet so professional. Great job!
This was my favorite video on this topic. Labels for our hand mades are very necessary, but the choices are not very good. This was a well done walk through on your process and it was interesting to see how you incorporated your heat press into the plan! Thanks so much!!!
I do this, but I use satin ribbon and have had no issues so far. It saves me having to cut, fold and press my strips. Thank you for the video :)
What kinda print do you make?? Is it sublimation?
@@aminshaz3930 I have been using tshirt transfer paper but I do have the ability to sublimate them - I just haven't done so yet. Sublimation would be a softer feel.
Pinking shears make a pretty edge for labels too, and prevent the fabric from fraying (as much)
Can you do an in depth video of creating the labels on pages because I can’t figure it out
Bonus! I have that exact heatpress! It’s a winner. Bought pre-owned as you did but couldn’t find any info online until now. I appreciate some of the tips on the tutorial! Thank you! 🎉❤️
How serendipitous that UA-cam recommended this video today when I just bought a pre-owned heat press!
Thank you so much Taylor for the label tutorial. I have been watching an embroidery lady from UK about the same way of doing the label but now someone from home doing the same confirmed to me so I will try it. All the best! Oh and being subbie to.
Thank you! 🥰
I've just started my small business and this is perfect! going to my first fair in a few months and trying to get ready for christmas!
Thanks so much for sharing! I was just looking at where to order my labels 🏷- So glad I found your video!
Hi Taylah! Thank you for this DIY label. I hope you can make a video on how you sew this labels on your scrunchies. Would be so glad if you read this.🤗
yes please! a tutorial on how to sew this onto the scrunchies would be so helpful!
@@nadinec3707 I think she probably just sews right-side them into the long seam. it's pretty simple, you can look up 'how to sew in labels' on google and something close should come up.
Great Vid, I have been meaning to work out how to do this for ages. Will be giving it a try now :)
Thanks! Let me know how you go :)
I have watched many videos of your and I love them
Thank for your sharing ❤
Oooooo, Nice. Never even considered doing labels this way. I can use labels like this for our Walnuts we sell too.
thank you for sharing Taylah. God bless your business...
Hi, I am from kerala in India, your vlogs are such a good informative and also more motivated, thank you so much for your information 😍 I became your great fan ♥️
Beautiful eyes! Was hoping to see the application of the labels!
I iron my fabric onto freezer paper and cut it a little smaller than the actual 8 by 12. I make my labels on a template online and send it to the printer. The labels are printed on the fabric.
Thank you so much. I was just wondering how to do this last night, and this morning, there you are, sharing the info. You're fabulous!
Thanks for the video. Can I use a toner printer for the labels?
I absolutely adore you. So sweet and helpful. Thank you for your videos!!!
Thank your for sharing this video. How long does it stay in the clothing?
Could you tell us which type of printer you had used in this video? Thank you
Hi there. I recently found your channel. I also make my own labels, but I would like to make small ones like yours. What is the size and what program do you use? A detailed tutorial would be great!! Thanks.
Thank you what type of cotton is that. I have about 40 sheets of that same transfer paper
I suppose you could use bias tape to print on.
Curious how they hold up in the wash? Do they fade after a few washes?
TMbookedup hi! From my experience with jet pro using a heat press they haven’t faded and feel great. But I’m not 100% sure if there would be a difference with ironing or using different branded transfer paper! :)
Yes, they fade pretty fast. Not the best option if you want quality.
How well does the printing hold up with laundering?
Wow, thank you so much! Can’t wait to try this!
What kind of printer do u use to print out the labels? Thanks
Thanks for sharing your videos and your work is Outstanding performance beautiful well done
Do you have a template for the label layout so I could use my own wording? I have a Mac too.
What is that mat you had under when cutting?
Omg this is so helpful! I’m having a hard time to check suppliers in our country so I will do this from now on. If I may ask, what size was the font? Thanks so much in advance!
Take a look at any garment you have and what size is the text in their label and compare to the text in your text editor. Depending on the font (and if you have a logo etc.) it is usually not that big. But it is nice to be able to read what it says...
Hello taylah rose

Great vlog so thank u so much 4 showing us how u do things
❤❤❤
Iv just liked ur vlog
I just came across your channel looking around on youtube. I just ordered some transfer paper so thank you for the link. (Brisbane Q)
Why don’t you use freezer paper?
Do you sell an editable template for the labels?
How does it look on the scrunchies cos this is a brilliant idea
I have a heap of my scrunchies on @madebytaylahrose on insta that show the labels :)
@@TaylahRose ok ty
Thanks for the vid! What fabric would you recommend? Is cotton drill too thick?
Fiorella Gamero hi! I use white Prima homespun cotton from the quilters section at spotlight! :)
I think drill might be okay! :) the drill I have has worked in the past
How did you create the template on your pages document
How do you get the labels set up in word? I have the transfer paper but I just don't know where to begin with the labels, I've tried a few times with no luck at all
Can try using a table and making the borders invisible. Print on normal paper and hold up to light to check placement before using expensive transfer paper.
What kind of ink di you used?
where did you get your printer? any advice
What’s the reason for folding the material?
So the edges don’t fray 😃
is the white part of the transfer paper transferred to the fabric too, or only the text in black? Thanks
Hi it’s transparent on white but you will be able to see it on coloured fabrics unless you purchase transfer paper for coloured fabrics :)
Thank you so much for sharing this! New subscriber here👏
Please what material did you use
Hi dear. Just want to know what kind of paper & fabric u use?
Transfer paper and 100% cotton fabric
how to you make them on the computer like layout and stuff?
Have a try on your text editor (such as Word, OpenOffice, Pages or even Google Docs).
Some of them have tutorials/ready made patterns how to make business cards etc. so maybe they will be useful.
Or another handy tool is Canva.com. It is very easy to use. You can make a picture of your label design and then save it to your computer and open your text editor and just copy & paste the picture as many times as your page can contain, be remindful of the seam and trimming allowances needed. BE CAREFUL TO MIRROR THE PAGE BEFORE PRINTINg (or you will have you words backwards on the canvas).
Print your design on the ironing paper and iron it on your fabric.
where u get your blue ruler
Does this fade when washing?
I tried this !! and love it BUT.... each time I tried it I get a clear sheet like almost as its glue on the design .... no matter how long or hot I use the iron.. Is this normal ? I dont see any clear shinny thing on yours. I use AVERY for lights
Might be the transfer paper your using ☺️ I use jet pro soft or there’s a good but expensive one from officeworks that works well!! I think it’s hp
Gorgeous thanks for your videos.
Hi Taylor what’s the size of your tags?
I make my own lables too but I use ribbon for mine
Brilliant!
Wait,so any printer will work … wouldnt the ink washed off after washing it?
Yes! Need to wash on cold and depending on the paper it lasts for a very long time without fading. I used to make t shirts and they never faded when I wore them 🥰
What printer do you use?
Very greatt video! What type of canon printer are you using?
In this video I use mg 3660 but I’ve just purchased the tr 8660 which is amazing so I’ll be using that from now on
@@TaylahRose thankyou for the information! I'm gonna find the detail of them. Success on your business 👍🏻
Wow, just wow
What kind or what is the name of the paper?
OMG! Love Love!
You are so pretty 😍
Love from India🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳
Thank you. This is awesome!!!!
What fabric did you use for the labels?
I use white cotton fabric! ☺️
I don't understand how to make the document.
Can you share the pattern or the sizes to make the vies thank you
Hello there..thank you for sharing..I have a scrunchies but I don't have label yet..I don't know where I can sale them..thnx again for this idea❤️💋
Facebook? Online flee markets in your country?
Ask local hairdressers, beauty salons, other places that sell items/services related to hair, beauty and fashion if they would like to buy them from you and sell them.
I don't have any experience but I have heard Etsy is maybe not a good choice to start with (unless you have a sales funnel somewhere leading to Etsy), it is very difficult to get your stuff to be seen in there.
@@sannaseesvalo2602 I have online shopping but doesn't work..on now I stop doing scrunchies..because no body pay..😢
Muy practica la herramienta, pero debe ser costosa .😢
Hi! I have a question where do you buy the cotton im having a hard time finding some
From spotlight ☺️
@@TaylahRose thank you
What or where is spotlight. Would love try that out. Ty. New subscriber
Spotlight is in Australia. 🇦🇺🌏👍
Thank you for tutorial 🍀❤👍
Did you use normal ink?
I do! Best to do some tests before sewing onto washable items, I used to make tshirts with a logo and they washed up great in cold water
@@TaylahRoseThanks for the response! I’m really getting frustrated with the labels I ordered online. Will definitely try this one. ❤
No mention of the fabric used in this?????
I did at 1:22… cotton Prima from spotlight
@@TaylahRoseI have no idea what you said
What kind of paper and cotton did you use ?
I think it is called transifere paper
How do you apply the label to the item please?
Hand sew it …
Does the lettering fade away over time after being washed ?
Hasn’t for me I used to make tshirts with pictures on it and they have been good
@@TaylahRose even with canon printer, does it work?? I thought only epson printer works with the sublimation.
It’s not sublimation :)
Amazing thank you 😊 ❤️do more videos on your business please it is very helpful 👍

Very nice👌👌
It's that canvass cloth?
It’s just normal homespun cotton :)
What fabric did you use?
homespun prima cotton 😊
What kind of transfer paper?
I use jet pro soft stretch ☺️
🙏🙏🙏great idea thank you
Doesn't it come out when you wash?
Not if done correctly :) I’ve made tops with printed images before and they have been washed a fair few times and still great images!
Okay thank you
What that sheet name ?
Jet pro soft stretch is what I use to transfer with x
Hi, how wide do you make your labels that you sew onto your scrunchies?
Thanks for sharing my friend
Great 👍
DO THEY FADE WHEN YOU WASH THEM
Not if done correctly with jet pro soft transfer paper
i subscribed and shared thanks for info
Transfer is easy and cheap but it only lasts a couple washes. Not the best quality.
Only if you don't properly apply it, or don't use correct materials. This is how they make printed shirts and tags you get from big brand stores as well.
@@Sky-fz7ku no, this is not. Brand labels are mostly made in serigraphy and sublimation. Those last waaaay longer. Transfer paper is inkjet printed and peels of after a couple washes.
This paper
Total messed up my printer. All that sticky stuff all inside 🤬🤬🤬
You used the wrong paper in the wrong printer. There’s inkjet or laser…
Can u show how to create on pages?
