Wow. I have been studying Thai for 3 1/2 years mostly on UA-cam, but Thai tutors also. You explain things better and clearer than anyone I have encountered. I must have learned from 30 different teachers. You presentations are thoughtful, professional and up beat. Your voice is clearr and distinct. Your english inspire confidence in your explinations and you have a pleasant and positive way of presenting your material. Quit simply, you are the best - "better than all the rest..." My only criticism is that on your pod casts you can speak way faster than I can understand... that is my fault, but since I discovered the settings button in UA-cam I can slow down you audio speed to something I can handle. Really, Dear, you do an excellent job. When I am tired of trying to understand other teachers who have a heavy accent, I come back to you and I understand and feel clean again. Thank You.

Waouh this is awesome banana... We have to struggle with many rules... Personally I tell myself 4 stories for MC / HC nd LC (paired nd unpaired) consonants... Then nd only then add up vowel length nd maï ek / maï dtree / maï dtoe nd maï jatawa (+ kwambpen-kwamtaï endings). I work my fingers to the bone and read myself blind to learn expressions and idioms and might never get the message across... Ooksyang pit Mister !!! Chiwit man San lae sinlapin man Yao (ars longa vitæ brevis) 😊

Hi, thank you for the lesson. I've just started learning thai and it was really helpful. I have just one question re the word เขา. If Sara เ-า is a short vowel, then that is a dead ending, as words that end in short vowels are classed as having a dead ending. So for the word เขา, high class initial consonant with dead ending should be low tone. But in the video you said it was rising tone, because it was sonorant ending. But a short vowel by definition cannot also be sonorant. Is Sara เ-า an exception to the short vowel dead ending rule? Thanks for your help.

สระเอา is a combination of สระอะ (-ะ) and ว (which is a live ending with sonorant sound) that’s why it’s sonorant.
Same as the vowels สระอำ is a combination of สระอะ (-ะ) and ม (which is also a love ending with sonorant sound)
I hope this helps ka ☺️

I want to learn the 3 consonant of each sound which is the high, middle and low. I don't know yet about the high consonant I know its kinda rare sound or something. I really really wanted to learn thai, so far I've learn about the vowel (short/long), the consonant (3) I'm still not familiar about the "HIGH" consonant, and lastly the tone which are the (middle, low, high, rising, falling tone) I hope I will avail to learn thai as what I've wanted. (Sorry for the wrong grammar)T-T

Chuay duay khun, I find Thai difficult enough without the added complex of tones.

ปวด could be verb as well, ฉันปวด… , for instance.
