    A tip from the great white north. Smear never seize on all studs and bolts before assembly,to allow for easy disassembly down the road.
    Up in Canada "We put that shit on everything!"

    Question, not trying to nit pick because I am by no means a professional but isn't the point of the divorced downpipe to separate the IWG valve and the actual exhaust gases? Wouldn't you lose the added benefits of separating the two if you have an EWG? If going with an EWG, I personally feel you would see bigger gains with just a bellmouth downpipe. Just my 2 cents

    The double nut technique is something I never thought of..

    Apologies for the long message in advance....
    I'm new to the STI platform and have a question in regards to the up & downpipe. I have several big HP GM LS & LT vehicles ranging from 630whp to 1,017whp. So in no way, shape or form am I trying to build this car, but want it to run the way it should once the real tuning starts. I recently purchased this STI to replace my Focus ST, which was my daily. Immediately, the STI became the far more fun to drive vehicle than the ST ever was, and can corner nearly as stable as my CTS-V3. Long story short, the STI ran good with the patches the used car dealership done to sell the car or the previous owner stripped it before selling it because there are signs where an AOS would've been located, or possibly a DP by looking at the broken zip ties.
    The car currently has the SRS non muffler axle-back "and sounds great", Cobb Carbon Fiber Intake, and an OTS map. I recently replaced the turbo inlet due to half of it being mounted onto the turbo with the bottom nearly halfway in the turbo itself, so I replaced it as well with a Perrin. Car ran fine for a few days, but the PCV valve that I thought I cleaned up pretty well stuck again. So, it's torn down again at the moment to replace with a new OEM piece. While I have a lot of the shielding off to put new clamps on the turbo drain, I want to know if the DP and UP worth it?
    More than likely I'm going to go catted since I don't want it excessively louder than what it is, but wanting to cure the well known problems that exists, along with the weight, and bulkiness in itself.
    Is it worth the money, what's the typical whp gains, and overall driveability/reliability of the car afterwards?
    As far as the DownPipes, are there any benefits with the divorced DP and the standard DP? At the moment I'll be keeping some type of recirculating BOV. May upgrade once tuning, but don't plan to vent to the atmosphere.
    Understand that the FP may have to get upgraded, but hopefully you can tell me yes or no. But the car will not see E85, and only pump 93.... Will the Injectors be enough for those few boltons?
    2019 STI Base & thank you in advance for any info provided.

    The GrimmSpeed J-pipe was probably the hardest of the mods I've done on my car. A word of advice, do exhaust as soon as possible! The more miles you put on your car the harder any exhaust work will be. At 28k miles I broke a turbo stud and two bolts. As stated in the video whether you have a sti or a wrx, getting those heat shields out of the way helps big time. I'm enjoying this build, can't wait to see more!

    • @GrimmSpeed
      @GrimmSpeed  5 років тому

      Very true! The longer you wait, the harder its going to be. But as long as you are patient and use the right tools for the job, it can be done!

      That is crazy, I put a downpipe on my '12 sti at 75k miles and didn't break anything

    Great work, guys. I own a base model 2017 WRX. From my perspective it looks like the engineers from Subaru did a good design on the STI engine as far as the turbo,the waste gate. How much does it cost to do the modification that you are doing on this video? A great video, guys. Subies forever. Grimmspeed makes great products. If I were to mod my subie it would be with your products.

    Did you guys make a custom lower bracket for the turbo heat shield , since the new up pipe does not have the screws for the oem one?

    Do you guys know the exhaust diameter of the 2020 sti? I'm looking to get the cobb turboback exhaust system with 3 inch downpipe/catback. Wondering if this could be put on a completely stock sti without tune or other modification needed?

    • @benharbin1241
      @benharbin1241 3 роки тому

      Downpipe will always need a tune for Subaru. If you change any engine, intake, or exhaust piping (except catback) it's best to tune
