Note with the bicolor gem hides, if you have a leatherworker at decent level, they will increase in sell price substantially if you turn them into leather first. Even NQ, so you can quick craft hundreds upon hundreds with zero effort. Some are still selling near 10k EACH. If you're capped on gems from levelling FATEs you might already be sitting on millions of gil.
one caveat for crafting leather though: You have to take crystal costs into account. Earth crystals are dirt cheap, but fire and wind crystals go up to 200 gil each. With each craft taking 8 crystals. So make sure you are not selling for higher than mat cost, including crystals
Well not as good as the leather trick likely but you can use gemstones from dawntrail on endwalker and shadowbringers gemstone venders so if lets say you did all the shared fates in endwalker, you can than buy gemstone vouchers there usually selling for around 100k each, witch cost you like 100 gemstones a peice, also orchestration rolls usually sell pretty good from gemstone venders
hey, thats about me! I appreciate your criticism here! The points you made about my short, while I may disagree with some, are completely valid! It was a bit hard to go into depth of what I meant for my map method in the 60 or seconds you get for a short, so I just thought i'd try to clarify what I meant to say! 1. My method of directly flipping maps was mostly meant to be a super easy way to make a couple hundred thousand gil in minutes on patch day, I briefly mentioned that actually running the maps would net you way more gil! (so far just today I've made over 15m gil running maps for 3-4 hours with a couple friends). Some things that really lead into this number were some things even I neglected to remember to mention in my short haha, all those passive tomes & materia seriously add up! 2. Mailing maps to friends actually isn't as bad as it seems! It personally took me about 10-15 minutes to mail my friend 20 or so maps, but I can understand not wanting to do so, and in retrospect not everyone might have a friend on their server or an fc they can trust to send the maps over. I never intended to come off as maps being the best method for making gil, and all the methods here are great! (my personal favourites this expac have been selling materia and running fates) In the end, no offense was taken here, there's so many methods of making gil in this game, and just because something ended up working out for me doesn't mean it might be the right method for you
You can hold 3 maps at once, learn one, put the second in your chocobo bag and the third in your inventory. Plus each of your retainers can hold one map. So I have 10 retainers, that is 10 more maps and your mail can hold up to 20 maps in the mail.
I'm still working towards Dawntrail (I have been away from the game for some time), but I earn a decent amount of Gill by crafting armour and weapons/tools for jobs. Most crafting and gathering gear sells for around 50K per piece on my server. In the last two weeks, I have earned over four million gills from two to three evenings of crafting by filling all the slots of my retainers on the Marked Board. I would say it has taken me less time than if I should be running back and forth with maps.
Personally I usually rely on my retainers to sell mats. It's slow but I often end up making a few million a week. Best thing is just to do what you like in game, there is always a way to get a bit of gil out of it.
the mats u can get for bicolor gemstones brings ur retainer as well if u have a fighting class retainer. thats my tip having a fighting retainer! very helpful and also easy to level and gear up if u give them ur main class. i know its paid stuff but i also recommend having 4 retainers for each class: 1 botanist, 1 miner, 1 fisher and 1 fighter
I feel like there was a missed opportunity to title the video: "How to make Gillions". All good options for making money, I have not been doing much and made enough to replace the GIL I spent on the mount. Just doing a bit of everything, but hunt trains are amazing.
Excellent video as always. Idk what that creator was on. I'd only get maps if they were in my normal gathering route. Definitely wouldn't farm them for profit. Agree with all your points. Aitherea alludes to this in the vid, but stock up on materia 11 (and perhaps 9) for around patch time when the first crafted sets come out. Should drive up the price for those and possibly the 9s (overmelding). For "lazy" people, you can farm shards/crystals. I've made millions on those. People will always need those for crafting and people are always desperate to level quickly (especially when new crafts are released). I would suggest getting The Twelves Bounty (lvl 20) and The Giving Land (lvl 74) to boost collection rates. Some clusters are on timers and those generally sell for more. But use Aitherea's tips 1st. Her methods not only help make money but help you level and collect other items, achievements and unlocks. P.S. if you guys have crappy older materia, remember the materia exchange gacha (if you've unlocked it)
Crystals are def good! You can farm them with your retainers, too, but stuff like the pearl grass (or whatever it was called) is like 1.8k per piece so if you can use your retainer on those it is good money.
@@Aitherea yeah that's why I said to stick with your points unless the person is lazy. Your methods not only will make more money but in this special instance will help them level as well. All the other methods you described have added benefits on top of being better money makers !
For me the best and the lowest effort gil making method is sending submarines for salvaged accessories via your free company workshop. Surely, it requires quite a long and grindy setup if you want to craft every build yourself, and it is timegated but in a few months your single FC with 4 submarine slots will be racking up over a million gil every two days with the lowest effort maintenance: you just buy magitek repair materials off the market board to click on your parts every 5-6 voyages to repair them, trade multiple stacks of 999 ceruleum tanks, your fuel, off another players for cheap, and then click reassign>confirm once they return and sell every accessory to any npc trader. I'm too lazy to spend hours grinding stuff daily, so this is the best method for me, that covers all of my imaginable expenses. And if you need a big portion of gil here and now, you can just play a few merc Extreme Trial runs and get at least two millions per mount drop. Crafting and gathering as a gil making method died for me when plugins like artisan and all sorts of undercutting bot programs became available to a huge mass of players.
The red and blue dyes from Island Sanctuary sell well too. The yellows sell well, but not often. The blacks and whites sell for a lot, but not as much per token as the reds or blues.
That person was exactly right though. The maps were 5k and below on my server and when the dungeons release they will all be over 100k. The thing is, yeah, you can just gather your own maps in the time between now and the release of the dungeons so it isn't needed. Useful if you don't have gatherers leveled, or if you dont want to have to remember to gather a map every day, i guess!
I saw the video you're talking about and I had the same thought. I have 3 retainers so I would only be able to sell 3 maps at a time. Assuming they are selling fast too
All I did in EW was I did my treasure maps with my FC every weekend. Sold the mats at the end. It's not ridiculous amounts of gil but I went from 400k to 20 million. (by the end) I consider that a win for me who doesn't really need to use Gil for anything.
A personal favorite for gil farming while being able to watch netflix is going to Diadem and leveling my Botanist and Miner. Just selling what you gather doing this makes decent gil consistently since there's always crafters doing the Ishgardian Restoration. It's not the quickest money maker but it's consistent and in between long patch cycles it can make a few million gil if you gather well.
honestly I was making hammerhead crocodile leather… you can hunt them for 2-5 per skin per kill (5 for 15k at the time on market board) or buy them with bi colors so i did hunts/fates. each fate gives enough gemstones to craft 1 and gets exp and levels. hunting them you can get like 5 ish a minute. i averaged about 450k hr that way plus the usual crafting selling easy rings etc. made about 8mil a day i’m up to 560 now
The map thing was because you could snag the Br'aaxskin maps for like 2k-5k a piece at the time, and once the savage tier dropped, the price of that map type was going to skyrocket- and it has. On my server at least it's already up to 100k. This spike is because the new treasure dungeon was released, and that made the Br'aaxskin maps valuable to run. I bought 40 maps for around 3.5k a piece, Spent 140k. I can now turn that around for 4million. 28.5x my investment for the minor annoyance of running back and forth between the MB and mail moogle in Tuliyolal a few times where the two are conveniently practically side by side.. And that's assuming the price doesn't go up further as I'm selling them. They sell fast. Yes, it is again a little annoying pulling them from the mail moogle one at a time; But they sell fast because people are running that map now for the treasure dungeon and its glam crafting item drop, and again, tuli conveniently has a retainer bell right by the mail moogle. But it was very much time sensitive; You needed to catch the maps before the price went up considerably; By the time it hit 20k it was too late to make a 'Good' profit from the minimal effort required. And at the time, just grabbing the br'aaxskin map and selling it gave you chump change- 5k. And you could get maybe 25k for a different map type.. Versus planning ahead and being able to turn your maps around for way more. Now that the dungeon is out, it's too late. If you didn't already stack up maps in the mail, you're outta the running. His video was basically just clueing in less aware people onto the potential for an actually guaranteed price spike, no tricks. But you had to catch the maps while the price was still low. And for newbies who are afraid to join hunt trains or do the maps directly or do much of anything 'scary', being able to turn a small amount of their gil into actual guaranteed profit would've been big even if it's a lil tedious.
I think my main issue was the packaging of the video. It felt disingenuous because it promised millions with no effort while not bothering to list the flaws/caveats of the method which includes the likelihood of not making millions. If it was packaged as nothing more than a flip opportunity with details about what your expectations should be for how much you can make, thatd be different. As you said, it's very time sensitive, so most people probably wont be able to make millions off it. As a normal person who sleeps and does not play immediately when the patch drops, upon logging in this afternoon, the maps are only worth 50kish on my server. If you're not available to play the market the moment the patch drops (which was like 4 or 5am for US people) then youre kinda screwed (although you could still make decent money off actually using the maps).
Your retainer can also hold maps. I've had 4 maps on me and 10 in my mailbox. You can hold a lot of maps in your mailbox. I have an alt I can actually send mail to and I've had maps in my mailbox for years.
I can second the materia option. Even until quite recently useless materia such as piety sold decently! Not enough to go out and buy but if you do get some from roulettes or anything put it on the market. Well worth it

Sadly FATEs are one of the most boring 'world activities' I've ever encountered in a MMO. I can barely even rank each zone once before I never want to touch a single FATE again... It's just AOE spam for 99% of them, with 1% being the boss FATE's.
This is not for everyone, but as someone who pays for extra retainers. (I have all 9) I send them out to collect crystals every 40 mins. I end up getting 120 of each type each 40mins that adds up quickly. Remember to need and greed on all gear during all your runs so you can turn into gc seals which can be turned into vendors. Crystals will always sell because someone is always crafting.
Running the maps can certainly be a decent way to make gil too. I just feel that the method of mailing yourself a bunch of maps that you bought for 20k a piece on the MB in the hopes of selling them for more later is highly inconvenient and ultimately a waste of time. In the same amount of time it takes to go through the rigamarole of mailing those maps, I can run a hunt train and make probably quadruple lol. Edit: to be clear they were talking about buying specifically Dawntrail maps to sell later when the new map dungeons drop.
Certainly don't buy them for 20k+ (though that is probably still minor profit). Before that video was posted, the maps were dipping as low as 5-8k, which was worth buying to fill any unique storage you had.
Not to mention that prices can widely range from server to server, so its not "reliable" , maps can be cheap on Dynamis but expensive on Aether and time consuming to mail it all 😅
im an omnicrafter (& gatherer) so ive always just made the new furniture that comes out. older furniture sells a lot too, especially if its something weebs really like (anything kugane)
I guess having a market directly in front of my FC has me spoiled. It's like 10 steps from the Market to the Mailbox for us. But yeah farming Eureka Bunnies and Bi-Color Gem Stone Vouchers has been some of the more reliable methods for farming Gil for me.
IMO, there are only two methods of making gil. 1) Actively playing the market board (for whatever item, its the market board, nothing is reliable here, no profit guarenteed) or 2) the passive ways, which are FC subs or monetizing your leves like a single ALC can convert 30ish venture coins into mats (a miner, bot, and combat) to get the leve 96 quest, which only takes a pair of 4 materials. Turning in 100 of those is 2million a month, subs are 14-15 mil per month (but require some initial work to get rolling). I personally hate dealing with the market board, so i focused on a personal FC and starting Subs, as well as ALC 86 (and now 96) leves a year ago, and have made 100mil or so since then (up to 150mish). Remember your combat Retainers can collect Bicolor gem mats.
Mailing maps is the best way to store them. A person can hold 20 mailed items at a time, this includes 20 maps. With multiple friends, the amount of maps you can store increases. You will still have to trade them once at a time, but it allows you to have many maps. You can hold 3 maps at once. When you pop a map it will remain active indefinitely until you dig, then add 1 to your saddlebag and 1 in your inventory.
Right but my point is the effort it takes to send 20 maps to someone is, in my opinion, not worth your time. It's inconvenient, straight up annoying, and you're not actually likely to make "millions."
@@Aitherea I see what your point is now, apologies for misunderstanding. Probably won't make millions from straight up selling maps, they would need to hit some absurd price for that to happen. Would legit be better gil if they just ran the dungeon when it dropped with the stored maps.

Just a silly question, mostly my curiosity. How do you feel about your character now that it has been some time, do you like it, or are you still on the fence. In my case, I changed race (that was my plan before the update was announced), but talking to some friends and FC members made me very sad, some liked the new changes, but far more were heartbroken at the sight of the update, so they also ended up in race changing . How do you feel about this?
@@SeventyVelle if you do lot of regular dungeons also consider turning items in to your GC and using the seals to buy items like prisms. You can always use Universalis to help you do the math between that and desynthesised mats
people would make more money using the maps they get in map parties than just by selling them. if you have a dedicated party group you can make a considerable amount of money just from the passive income rewards from other's maps. If you do maps on a need if its yours / greed if it isnt ruleset, youre likely to make more.
1:30 well to be fair any player could hold 4 maps but its still ... questionable .. in the end you dont even can tell if you will got a lot of money ... most likely yes ... but if for what ever reason the treasure map will stop at a price of 30k or something ... your dream of milions will be gone xD 6:25 dont forget the bonus every week you can get for fates its not much xp from there 1 or 2 milion each for 5 and 10 perfect fates i think .. but its still xp for free if you farm fates anyway the ways to make money in the game is nearly endless ... variant dungeons will give "some" good money if you like them but takes time obviously ... just crafting things to sell can make a lot of money but you have to watch out for what is selling and where you can make good profit ... a garden can lead to some gil for not much effort but a lot of waiting time ... some ex trials can give decent money .. just playing the roulette with needed role gives a decent amount of money ... depends on what you like to do .. or dont want to ... i dont like hunt trains so i would never use that method for example :D
I just started selling things, and i made a mill, and i was happy. I always forget that there are people with millions of gil, and then there is my whooping 2 million😅. I have been looking for ways to make more gil, so thank you for this video ❤.
Tbf you can store multiple maps in your moogle inbox. Storing about 18 (if I remember right) there for a friend atm xD. If they need it only then do I take the mail contents out and send it back. So his maps aren't in my inventory
It literally, like literally took me 2 WHOLE MINS to buy 8 maps. Caveat, I have 6 Retainers, + Saddle + Myself. Limsa Lominsa MB exist, less than a second next to a Summoning Bell.
I just make my money by having multiple chars with the island on rank 20. Sure, it takes time to come to that point, not the best method for getting gil early on but once reached, everything works automatically and I just need to sell the stuff from the lootboxes or the materia and furniture you can buy on the island. Only need to check once a week and do like 7 - 10 millions just by letting the puppets work for me. And for even more money, I maybe take one char to do my daily roulettes and sell the stuff my retainers bring me. If rng is really REALLY nice to me that week, I maybe do the double amount of money per character (you know, dyes, specially jet black sells on my server between 600k - 700k) In the end, everything which includes the MB is a bit of rng. Do the things sell good and quick? To which prices does it sell on your server? How much is it needed in the next weeks? And stuff like that needs to be considered.
I want you to know, i saw that same video. and went to purchase the treasure map and then realized i can only have one at a time. and on my server they were going for like 50k gil. so i bought one... and that was the end of that hahahahahaha
I feel like crafters are a ponzi scheme to make gil, we sell crafter gear to other crafters so they can make crafter gear for other crafters :'D Uh.. it works though. Also, those skin from living memory (by pyros I think, off the big red guys) sell WELL. Even just farming logs or ores has been highly profitable.
Girl you clueless, fire, wind,water, and lightning crystals are going for 140-180 Gil per. Retainers bring back 120 at a time, that's a free 40k every 40 mins, if you have 2 retainers if you have 6 like I do, I get roughly 140k every 40 minutes on top of what you are gathering already. This is on primal aether and crystal. For gathering materia, pentameld ur set with cheap materia, use spiritbond potion, buy moonstones for company seals to get king cake. Also adds spirit bond, go around gathering og script nodes and you will 100% spirit bond 11 peices of gear on top of the og scripts

Sadly... I am one of these savage raiders, so I'll be making less gil because I have to get all of these materia AND overmelding. I got super unlucky with the stacks I already had and spent around 4.5 mil getting my overmelds done. And instead of profiting off selling raid pots and food... I am making them because I need to use them. BAH.
It really was not that hard I bought 117 maps for 5k-17k range each. Sent them to my friend and he immediately sent them back to me but we planned to use them and have use about 50% so far

I honestly don’t get why people make “ how to make gil easy “ videos because people watching the videos will do the same thing as everyone else, people will undercut each other and crash the market, never fails, which is good for me but these videos don’t make sense to me. But carry on, I need cheap stuff.
there will be some impact but theres too many different people and servers and multiple different ways to make gil that it wont matter that much. plus if other people are making these videos then makes sense for aitheria to pump one out too lol

But I’m saying that these types vids crash markets due to saturation and ratio of surplus and demand, not complaining, just saying that once it’s exposed you’ll be making less and less money with these methods, the ones that involve the market board.
Some creators need materials, and the easiest way to get them cheap is to make these videos and crash the prices. Not saying that's what's happening here, but material does need to be baught in bulk tomorow
Things sell well because of a demand for it, and nothing here is a trade secret. I seriously doubt aitherea is gonna crash the materia market any time soon
Now is not the time to be selling materials for gil. 7.05 is literally this tuesday, and any one of those items in the gathering log you're selling for pennies right now could be worth whole dollars on Tuesday.
holding a limited number of treasure maps isnt stopping my friends from flooding my mailbox with them. Update: they've capped mine and several other mailboxes of other friends
if thats how you want to spend your time, that's up to you. But you can also only sell 1 map at a time on each retainer, which means youre basically gonna have to hover over your retainers all day whenever maps go up in price. This is probably not an option for most people due to work and other obligations, or the desire to actually play the game rather than staring at your summoning bell all day, which is why I think it's bad advice. I can't help but feel that for most people, this is largely a waste of time. When you consider the fact that you cant put more than 1 map for sale at a time, the cost of the marketboard tax, and how quickly prices nose dive, there's not really a world in which you are making "millions" from this pursuit. You'll be lucky if you manage to make 1m. All of the methods I've shared in this video are comparatively more reliable, less annoying, and actually do have the potential to make you millions.

if they are treasure maps they are probably all different ones as each expansion has like 2 diff maps. Id say the best way to get ventures is grand company seals or wolf marks.
Maps themselves are ok! I think you could argue there are more efficient ways to use your time if you want to make money (esp if you have shit RNG like I do and lose every single roll on the expensive drops), but maps are fun with friends and you'll often make 100-300k just by showing up so why not? The method in the short vid was just ass because you cant even sell more than 1 map per retainer so good luck humping your summoning bell all day to deal with undercutters and restock any maps that do sell. Before you're able to even sell the 20 in your mailbox the price will probably nose dive.
There's always the possibility they didnt realize how flawed their method was. They mightve just been really excited thinking they chanced upon a good flip and wanted to share it. Hard to say though, because the way the video was packaged felt a little disingenuous.
You say you don't want to insult another creator for wrong info (which you felt the need to iterate a times clearly trying to enforce the fact you felt he/she is wrong) but yet you are WRONG which is laughable. You can have more than one map. 1 saddlebag,1 on you,1 deciphered, 2 in your retainers if not paying for extra. The other creator was correct.
I didnt watched it, but im here to give you a helpful advice: It wont work. Whenever a UA-camr comes arround, explaining how to make money shit goes down. When it works and people saw it on the internet then everyone start doing this and the method looses its effectness. Watch closely and avoid those methods, maybe think about it a bit if you can reproduce it on another way, but avoid th excakt same methos at any cost.
I mean some people have maxed out retainers that can each hold a map lol and even if people only had the 2 or so retainers, it’s still not bad advice to say “hey, buy this item that is selling low now but will sell at a higher price later.” It’s weirdly juvenile to be all coyly with the “I’m not trying to drag this creator” especially when you’re doing the same kind of Gil making video. There’s lots and lots of different ways to make money in this game.
If you want to buy 4 maps to sell later to make a small profit, that's fine and wont take up much of your time, so I have no issue with that. But the suggestion from the video was to stock up on them so that you can "make millions of gil with no effort." Unless the creator truly doesnt know better, they are basically clickbaiting to get views without offering actually good advice -- rather, their advice comes without acknowledging the potential caveats of their idea, how it wont actually make you millions, and how it will take effort since youll need to run back and forth from the marketboard to the mailbox 10x. I'm trying to give them the benefit of the doubt and I kept their name private so as not to direct any hate toward them. However, I felt it necessary to address WHY the advice was bad and to offer alternative gil making methods because the original method offered in the short does nothing more than offer false hope and waste people's time. The only reason I mentioned the short in the first place is because it has over 100k views and I hoped to explain the flaws for those who may have viewed it and got excited thinking they can easily make millions of gil while not understanding the drawbacks of this method.

My method of directly flipping maps was mostly meant to be a super easy way to make a couple hundred thousand gil in minutes on patch day, I briefly mentioned that actually running the maps would net you way more gil! (so far just today I've made over 15m gil running maps for 3-4 hours with a couple friends). Some things that really lead into this number were some things even I neglected to remember to mention in my short haha, all those passive tomes & materia seriously add up!
2. Mailing maps to friends actually isn't as bad as it seems! It personally took me about 10-15 minutes to mail my friend 20 or so maps, but I can understand not wanting to do so, and in retrospect not everyone might have a friend on their server or an fc they can trust to send the maps over.
I never intended to come off as maps being the best method for making gil, and all the methods here are great! (my personal favourites this expac have been selling materia and running fates)
In the end, no offense was taken here, there's so many methods of making gil in this game, and just because something ended up working out for me doesn't mean it might be the right method for you
You can hold 3 maps at once, learn one, put the second in your chocobo bag and the third in your inventory. Plus each of your retainers can hold one map. So I have 10 retainers, that is 10 more maps and your mail can hold up to 20 maps in the mail.

I'm still working towards Dawntrail (I have been away from the game for some time), but I earn a decent amount of Gill by crafting armour and weapons/tools for jobs.
Most crafting and gathering gear sells for around 50K per piece on my server. In the last two weeks, I have earned over four million gills from two to three evenings of crafting by filling all the slots of my retainers on the Marked Board. I would say it has taken me less time than if I should be running back and forth with maps.
Technical you can have 1 map deciphered 1 in your bag 1 in your chocobo bag and 1 in each retainer
but u r supposed to sell them when they're worth more...how do u sell a deciphered map?

Personally I usually rely on my retainers to sell mats. It's slow but I often end up making a few million a week.
Best thing is just to do what you like in game, there is always a way to get a bit of gil out of it.
the mats u can get for bicolor gemstones brings ur retainer as well if u have a fighting class retainer.
thats my tip having a fighting retainer! very helpful and also easy to level and gear up if u give them ur main class.
i know its paid stuff but i also recommend having 4 retainers for each class: 1 botanist, 1 miner, 1 fisher and 1 fighter

All good options for making money, I have not been doing much and made enough to replace the GIL I spent on the mount. Just doing a bit of everything, but hunt trains are amazing.
Excellent video as always. Idk what that creator was on. I'd only get maps if they were in my normal gathering route. Definitely wouldn't farm them for profit.
Agree with all your points. Aitherea alludes to this in the vid, but stock up on materia 11 (and perhaps 9) for around patch time when the first crafted sets come out. Should drive up the price for those and possibly the 9s (overmelding).
For "lazy" people, you can farm shards/crystals. I've made millions on those. People will always need those for crafting and people are always desperate to level quickly (especially when new crafts are released). I would suggest getting The Twelves Bounty (lvl 20) and The Giving Land (lvl 74) to boost collection rates. Some clusters are on timers and those generally sell for more. But use Aitherea's tips 1st. Her methods not only help make money but help you level and collect other items, achievements and unlocks.
P.S. if you guys have crappy older materia, remember the materia exchange gacha (if you've unlocked it)
Crystals are def good! You can farm them with your retainers, too, but stuff like the pearl grass (or whatever it was called) is like 1.8k per piece so if you can use your retainer on those it is good money.

For me the best and the lowest effort gil making method is sending submarines for salvaged accessories via your free company workshop. Surely, it requires quite a long and grindy setup if you want to craft every build yourself, and it is timegated but in a few months your single FC with 4 submarine slots will be racking up over a million gil every two days with the lowest effort maintenance: you just buy magitek repair materials off the market board to click on your parts every 5-6 voyages to repair them, trade multiple stacks of 999 ceruleum tanks, your fuel, off another players for cheap, and then click reassign>confirm once they return and sell every accessory to any npc trader. I'm too lazy to spend hours grinding stuff daily, so this is the best method for me, that covers all of my imaginable expenses. And if you need a big portion of gil here and now, you can just play a few merc Extreme Trial runs and get at least two millions per mount drop. Crafting and gathering as a gil making method died for me when plugins like artisan and all sorts of undercutting bot programs became available to a huge mass of players.
The red and blue dyes from Island Sanctuary sell well too. The yellows sell well, but not often. The blacks and whites sell for a lot, but not as much per token as the reds or blues.
Thank for reminding me, I can use island for grade 9 materia. I had been tunnel vision into purple sricpt farming to remember.
Im doing that with mates at the guild, not to sell the maps tho, but to run the new treasure dungion hundreds of times.
That person was exactly right though. The maps were 5k and below on my server and when the dungeons release they will all be over 100k. The thing is, yeah, you can just gather your own maps in the time between now and the release of the dungeons so it isn't needed. Useful if you don't have gatherers leveled, or if you dont want to have to remember to gather a map every day, i guess!
I saw the video you're talking about and I had the same thought. I have 3 retainers so I would only be able to sell 3 maps at a time. Assuming they are selling fast too
All I did in EW was I did my treasure maps with my FC every weekend. Sold the mats at the end.
It's not ridiculous amounts of gil but I went from 400k to 20 million. (by the end)
I consider that a win for me who doesn't really need to use Gil for anything.
A personal favorite for gil farming while being able to watch netflix is going to Diadem and leveling my Botanist and Miner. Just selling what you gather doing this makes decent gil consistently since there's always crafters doing the Ishgardian Restoration. It's not the quickest money maker but it's consistent and in between long patch cycles it can make a few million gil if you gather well.
honestly I was making hammerhead crocodile leather… you can hunt them for 2-5 per skin per kill (5 for 15k at the time on market board) or buy them with bi colors so i did hunts/fates. each fate gives enough gemstones to craft 1 and gets exp and levels. hunting them you can get like 5 ish a minute. i averaged about 450k hr that way plus the usual crafting selling easy rings etc. made about 8mil a day i’m up to 560 now
The map thing was because you could snag the Br'aaxskin maps for like 2k-5k a piece at the time, and once the savage tier dropped, the price of that map type was going to skyrocket- and it has. On my server at least it's already up to 100k. This spike is because the new treasure dungeon was released, and that made the Br'aaxskin maps valuable to run.
I bought 40 maps for around 3.5k a piece, Spent 140k. I can now turn that around for 4million. 28.5x my investment for the minor annoyance of running back and forth between the MB and mail moogle in Tuliyolal a few times where the two are conveniently practically side by side.. And that's assuming the price doesn't go up further as I'm selling them. They sell fast. Yes, it is again a little annoying pulling them from the mail moogle one at a time; But they sell fast because people are running that map now for the treasure dungeon and its glam crafting item drop, and again, tuli conveniently has a retainer bell right by the mail moogle.
But it was very much time sensitive; You needed to catch the maps before the price went up considerably; By the time it hit 20k it was too late to make a 'Good' profit from the minimal effort required. And at the time, just grabbing the br'aaxskin map and selling it gave you chump change- 5k. And you could get maybe 25k for a different map type.. Versus planning ahead and being able to turn your maps around for way more. Now that the dungeon is out, it's too late. If you didn't already stack up maps in the mail, you're outta the running.
His video was basically just clueing in less aware people onto the potential for an actually guaranteed price spike, no tricks. But you had to catch the maps while the price was still low. And for newbies who are afraid to join hunt trains or do the maps directly or do much of anything 'scary', being able to turn a small amount of their gil into actual guaranteed profit would've been big even if it's a lil tedious.
I think my main issue was the packaging of the video. It felt disingenuous because it promised millions with no effort while not bothering to list the flaws/caveats of the method which includes the likelihood of not making millions. If it was packaged as nothing more than a flip opportunity with details about what your expectations should be for how much you can make, thatd be different. As you said, it's very time sensitive, so most people probably wont be able to make millions off it. As a normal person who sleeps and does not play immediately when the patch drops, upon logging in this afternoon, the maps are only worth 50kish on my server. If you're not available to play the market the moment the patch drops (which was like 4 or 5am for US people) then youre kinda screwed (although you could still make decent money off actually using the maps).
Your retainer can also hold maps. I've had 4 maps on me and 10 in my mailbox. You can hold a lot of maps in your mailbox. I have an alt I can actually send mail to and I've had maps in my mailbox for years.
I can second the materia option. Even until quite recently useless materia such as piety sold decently! Not enough to go out and buy but if you do get some from roulettes or anything put it on the market. Well worth it

Sadly FATEs are one of the most boring 'world activities' I've ever encountered in a MMO. I can barely even rank each zone once before I never want to touch a single FATE again... It's just AOE spam for 99% of them, with 1% being the boss FATE's.

This is not for everyone, but as someone who pays for extra retainers. (I have all 9) I send them out to collect crystals every 40 mins. I end up getting 120 of each type each 40mins that adds up quickly. Remember to need and greed on all gear during all your runs so you can turn into gc seals which can be turned into vendors. Crystals will always sell because someone is always crafting.
opening the maps really isnt a bad idea either even rn those hairs have made me over 200 mil and you can just duo the maps since its only the outside
Running the maps can certainly be a decent way to make gil too. I just feel that the method of mailing yourself a bunch of maps that you bought for 20k a piece on the MB in the hopes of selling them for more later is highly inconvenient and ultimately a waste of time. In the same amount of time it takes to go through the rigamarole of mailing those maps, I can run a hunt train and make probably quadruple lol.
Edit: to be clear they were talking about buying specifically Dawntrail maps to sell later when the new map dungeons drop.
Certainly don't buy them for 20k+ (though that is probably still minor profit). Before that video was posted, the maps were dipping as low as 5-8k, which was worth buying to fill any unique storage you had.
Not to mention that prices can widely range from server to server, so its not "reliable" , maps can be cheap on Dynamis but expensive on Aether and time consuming to mail it all 😅

IMO, there are only two methods of making gil. 1) Actively playing the market board (for whatever item, its the market board, nothing is reliable here, no profit guarenteed) or 2) the passive ways, which are FC subs or monetizing your leves like a single ALC can convert 30ish venture coins into mats (a miner, bot, and combat) to get the leve 96 quest, which only takes a pair of 4 materials. Turning in 100 of those is 2million a month, subs are 14-15 mil per month (but require some initial work to get rolling). I personally hate dealing with the market board, so i focused on a personal FC and starting Subs, as well as ALC 86 (and now 96) leves a year ago, and have made 100mil or so since then (up to 150mish). Remember your combat Retainers can collect Bicolor gem mats.
Mailing maps is the best way to store them. A person can hold 20 mailed items at a time, this includes 20 maps. With multiple friends, the amount of maps you can store increases. You will still have to trade them once at a time, but it allows you to have many maps. You can hold 3 maps at once. When you pop a map it will remain active indefinitely until you dig, then add 1 to your saddlebag and 1 in your inventory.
Right but my point is the effort it takes to send 20 maps to someone is, in my opinion, not worth your time. It's inconvenient, straight up annoying, and you're not actually likely to make "millions."
@@Aitherea I see what your point is now, apologies for misunderstanding. Probably won't make millions from straight up selling maps, they would need to hit some absurd price for that to happen. Would legit be better gil if they just ran the dungeon when it dropped with the stored maps.

In my case, I changed race (that was my plan before the update was announced), but talking to some friends and FC members made me very sad, some liked the new changes, but far more were heartbroken at the sight of the update, so they also ended up in race changing .

@@SeventyVelle if you do lot of regular dungeons also consider turning items in to your GC and using the seals to buy items like prisms. You can always use Universalis to help you do the math between that and desynthesised mats

people would make more money using the maps they get in map parties than just by selling them. if you have a dedicated party group you can make a considerable amount of money just from the passive income rewards from other's maps. If you do maps on a need if its yours / greed if it isnt ruleset, youre likely to make more.
I will say, FATES are a great way of levelling. If you have a group it can be pretty fast, and you're killing two birds with one stone.

6:25 dont forget the bonus every week you can get for fates its not much xp from there 1 or 2 milion each for 5 and 10 perfect fates i think .. but its still xp for free if you farm fates anyway
the ways to make money in the game is nearly endless ... variant dungeons will give "some" good money if you like them but takes time obviously ... just crafting things to sell can make a lot of money but you have to watch out for what is selling and where you can make good profit ... a garden can lead to some gil for not much effort but a lot of waiting time ... some ex trials can give decent money .. just playing the roulette with needed role gives a decent amount of money ... depends on what you like to do .. or dont want to ... i dont like hunt trains so i would never use that method for example :D
tip in same category as buying maps on mb and then selling them: buy the 7,5m mount from S9 and sell it for like 7,9mil and still lose gil

I just make my money by having multiple chars with the island on rank 20. Sure, it takes time to come to that point, not the best method for getting gil early on but once reached, everything works automatically and I just need to sell the stuff from the lootboxes or the materia and furniture you can buy on the island. Only need to check once a week and do like 7 - 10 millions just by letting the puppets work for me.
And for even more money, I maybe take one char to do my daily roulettes and sell the stuff my retainers bring me.
If rng is really REALLY nice to me that week, I maybe do the double amount of money per character (you know, dyes, specially jet black sells on my server between 600k - 700k)
In the end, everything which includes the MB is a bit of rng. Do the things sell good and quick? To which prices does it sell on your server? How much is it needed in the next weeks? And stuff like that needs to be considered.

Girl you clueless, fire, wind,water, and lightning crystals are going for 140-180 Gil per. Retainers bring back 120 at a time, that's a free 40k every 40 mins, if you have 2 retainers if you have 6 like I do, I get roughly 140k every 40 minutes on top of what you are gathering already. This is on primal aether and crystal.
For gathering materia, pentameld ur set with cheap materia, use spiritbond potion, buy moonstones for company seals to get king cake. Also adds spirit bond, go around gathering og script nodes and you will 100% spirit bond 11 peices of gear on top of the og scripts

there will be some impact but theres too many different people and servers and multiple different ways to make gil that it wont matter that much. plus if other people are making these videos then makes sense for aitheria to pump one out too lol

if thats how you want to spend your time, that's up to you. But you can also only sell 1 map at a time on each retainer, which means youre basically gonna have to hover over your retainers all day whenever maps go up in price. This is probably not an option for most people due to work and other obligations, or the desire to actually play the game rather than staring at your summoning bell all day, which is why I think it's bad advice. I can't help but feel that for most people, this is largely a waste of time. When you consider the fact that you cant put more than 1 map for sale at a time, the cost of the marketboard tax, and how quickly prices nose dive, there's not really a world in which you are making "millions" from this pursuit. You'll be lucky if you manage to make 1m. All of the methods I've shared in this video are comparatively more reliable, less annoying, and actually do have the potential to make you millions.

if they are treasure maps they are probably all different ones as each expansion has like 2 diff maps. Id say the best way to get ventures is grand company seals or wolf marks.

Maps themselves are ok! I think you could argue there are more efficient ways to use your time if you want to make money (esp if you have shit RNG like I do and lose every single roll on the expensive drops), but maps are fun with friends and you'll often make 100-300k just by showing up so why not? The method in the short vid was just ass because you cant even sell more than 1 map per retainer so good luck humping your summoning bell all day to deal with undercutters and restock any maps that do sell. Before you're able to even sell the 20 in your mailbox the price will probably nose dive.

You say you don't want to insult another creator for wrong info (which you felt the need to iterate a times clearly trying to enforce the fact you felt he/she is wrong) but yet you are WRONG which is laughable. You can have more than one map. 1 saddlebag,1 on you,1 deciphered, 2 in your retainers if not paying for extra. The other creator was correct.
I didnt watched it, but im here to give you a helpful advice: It wont work. Whenever a UA-camr comes arround, explaining how to make money shit goes down. When it works and people saw it on the internet then everyone start doing this and the method looses its effectness. Watch closely and avoid those methods, maybe think about it a bit if you can reproduce it on another way, but avoid th excakt same methos at any cost.
Most of the advice she gave was vey Generalized, and she spent time debunking a viral YT Short that's been going around.
I mean some people have maxed out retainers that can each hold a map lol and even if people only had the 2 or so retainers, it’s still not bad advice to say “hey, buy this item that is selling low now but will sell at a higher price later.”
It’s weirdly juvenile to be all coyly with the “I’m not trying to drag this creator” especially when you’re doing the same kind of Gil making video. There’s lots and lots of different ways to make money in this game.
If you want to buy 4 maps to sell later to make a small profit, that's fine and wont take up much of your time, so I have no issue with that. But the suggestion from the video was to stock up on them so that you can "make millions of gil with no effort." Unless the creator truly doesnt know better, they are basically clickbaiting to get views without offering actually good advice -- rather, their advice comes without acknowledging the potential caveats of their idea, how it wont actually make you millions, and how it will take effort since youll need to run back and forth from the marketboard to the mailbox 10x. I'm trying to give them the benefit of the doubt and I kept their name private so as not to direct any hate toward them. However, I felt it necessary to address WHY the advice was bad and to offer alternative gil making methods because the original method offered in the short does nothing more than offer false hope and waste people's time. The only reason I mentioned the short in the first place is because it has over 100k views and I hoped to explain the flaws for those who may have viewed it and got excited thinking they can easily make millions of gil while not understanding the drawbacks of this method.
