Dude thank you SO much for making this video!! You were clear and easy to understand, you provided very helpful insights and tips (how to loosen old screws) and didn't miss a single step. Most videos I watch they leave out so much or don't explain the reason behind their actions, I cannot thank you enough for the perfect video. I just bought a CB400, lets gooooo
An old guy I knew had a beetle, and every cold morning headed off to work on 3 cylinders for a few 100 yards till the stuck intake valve on the 4th cylinder, warmed up, and freed, to function properly. His view being, and I adopted it, "if ain't broke don't fix it". Hence in cold/damp weather my cb400A does it all the time, and runs fine after a minute on tick over. Summer/warm weather always starts on 2 cylinders. Happy riding to you ;-)
The reason those screws were giving you so much grief is that they aren't Phillips. They are JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard). They are different than Phillips. If you use a Phillips screwdriver on them, they have a tendency to walk out of the slot and round them off. The taper of a JIS screwdriver is something like 57 degrees and the very tip isn't as pointy. Phillips screwdrivers have a steeper taper and don't contact the inside walls of the screw as well. I just ponied up $20 for a 3 screwdriver set. It makes a huge difference.
