Nice one lads! That stop at Swanage was well earned...... Keep up the good work. The Atlantic trip will be fantastic, specially if your rudder isn't ate buy those bandit Orcas!!
Thanks lads great music when you were beating to windward,I had forgot how strong the tide is over there, not much here in Tasmania. Cheers from down under.
Thanks Tony, you have Luke to thanks for the beautiful music. It's never fun beating to windward especially with the strong tides in the English Channel, seems like sailing across the Atlantic will be a breeze 😄🤔👍
Brilliant as always guys. Neppy the Windvane steering again earning her keep as 3rd crew member. Efficiently doing its thing free of electricity, just brilliant.
Neppy is the best thing we have bought for Atlas. She is fantastic never complains never gets tired, just keeps on trucking and and uses no electricity of course
Another great episode guys. It's quite funny hearing you say there's loads of boats out, that was dead compared to what we're used to at the weekends here in the Solent 😂 Amazing seeing the dolphins playing so closely too... lucky buggers, we're yet to see them 😍
It gets crazy at times, the first bank holiday weekend in May we headed out of Portsmouth Harbour with a constant stream of boats, we counted 27 around us before we had even reached the exit then lost count! To be honest though, I imagine that was just because of the bank holiday weekend, Ive never seen it quite a busy as that before. But yes, the Solent is super busy at the weekends throughout the summer. Plenty more than dolphins out there crossing the Atlantic!! Super excited to follow your journey across!
Nice boat lads. Enjoying your videos. Have been to the Isle of Wight back in the day to race in the 92 Cowes Week. Amazing cruising grounds that you are showing us. Richard from Papua New Guinea.
Another good film, thanks. Always impressed by your approach to simply anchoring somewhere quite happily rather than rely on marinas or quays to tie up to - self-sufficient seamanship and saves money.
Hello David, yes we are a great believer in anchoring, a lot of sailors seem to use marinas or moooring balls when anchoring is completely free and quite 😀
brings back memories the fishermans jetty you landed on is where i used to go out lobster and crab potting on the last clinker built fishing boat operating in the '70s with the ex mayor of swanage back in the '70s (bob brown), my aunt had aflat for holidays on durleston head just past the lifeboat slipway, nice episode!
The Solent and the Southwest of England are some of the nicest places you’ve visited so far. Sure Scotland had a beautiful, windswept and wild feel about it - very romantic, but for sheer sailing pleasure and the amenities, you just can’t beat the south with that holidays feel. Ah, the British Riviera! Next is Lands End and Bristol Bay. It’s nice to be back home after the entire summer away. And now - preparing yourselves and the boat for your next adventure. I liked the hint in this episode. It’s been fun being with you the whole way ‘round.
Thanks very much Cathy, it has been one hell of an adventure, my favourite places to sail were scotland, amazing scenery and plenty of fantastic anchorages. The south coast is lovely, would have been nice to spend more time to really take it all in. But Hay, the Atlantic adventure is to come 😁😁✌👍
hi guys - so sorry we missed you - been overseas in Cyprus! Just back - we had promised you a shower and supper at Lulworth Cove some weeks ago - think you are well passed us now...??? where r u? loving catching up on the vids tonight... Simon
Hello Simon, hope you had a nice time in Cyprus, don't worry about the Promised shower and supper, we are now in Milford Haven carrying out work to Atlas before the Atlantic adventure 😃😁
@@TheSailingBrothers Many many congratulations - delighted you made it. Outstanding achievement. How long did it take in the end? Did you make it to Lulworth Cove? Will you still be making your quite outstanding vids - awesome project to cross the Atlantic too - next year??? We wonder if you use a drone on occasions - or maybe a very extended deck brush??? Rachel (wife) says on the atlantic crossing hopes you will both you eat more fresh veg and fruit - i guess she worried u might get scurvy! Look after yourselves - fantastic inspirational series....thanks.
Hay Simon, yes we completed the circuit, 4 months in all, not bad for cruising and exploring, sailed past Lulworth Cove this time, does look amazing in there. We will carry on making vids of the whole Atlantic Adventure, we dont have a drone, just use the boat hook lol, maybe get one but they are £1000 min. We are starting to eat better now, more friut and veg less crap lol. Thanks for the positive comments Simon

@@TheSailingBrothers lol it happens man don't worry about it really just keep it as trimmed as you want it to be.. got to look like a pirate sometimes right :) lol
Great vid again guys , my only complaint is you stopped me working on mine! This will be my first trip when she's ready , Cowes up to Swansea if I get a berth in time . Looking forward to Portland and how you handled it . That run of tide is vicious too been studying it lately as it goes . She points up very well or looks like it on camera . Nice conditions too , I love beating into it like that. Really enjoyed that thanks lads 🙂
Haha sorry 😞 😁 oh cowes to Sawasea, that will be a nice trip, we hope you get favorable winds, although yes beating is always fun for a little, then it gets tiresome. We round Portland Bill in the next episode, it was interesting to say the least 🙃😉 Atlas dose go well to windward for a 42 year old quite shallow draft yatch
@@TheSailingBrothers you're alright, I was glad of the break , was renewing the toilet 2" outlet through hull and had to drill the old one out . Looking forward to next episode more than ever now 🙂. Hardest part of my trip back will be hanging a right at Lands end because I love the Scillies. Awesome vids guys really enjoyed today's please keep it up and I hope our paths cross sometime. Fair winds, Mike.
This is my first comment, Respect from G pontoon at Penarth marina 👌 I’ve binged watched the 29 episodes of this trip back to back tboys, cracking! Episode 30 I had to do in 2 parts as I’ve had to go out working, 🥲 I find myself using ‘beautiful’ (it must be spoken the way Luke says it😂) and the other classic ‘ it is what it is’ quite a lot now 😂😂
Greetings Martin from G Pontoon, really glad you are enjoying the episodes, thank you very much for watching and commenting much appreciated. Luke always says beautiful and it is what it is 😁👍
I think GoPro's make things appear to be very far away when they're not really...do you think that when you look back at the footage. Like we can't see the Needles but you obviously could. Brilliant as ever anyway
Hi hello you two and all ⛵️⛵️⛵️⛵️⛵️⛵️⛵️⛵️⛵️ May I ask please about the wind vane on the back of the boat. How does this work please. Hi, the vane works by steering to an angle of the wind, you set it manually and it will keep the course unless the wind angle changes, what a you Tube video on how they work is best 😁. We do have an electronic auto pilot, which we do use while we are sorting the sails when we leave an anchorage for example. We have a fixed chart Plotter next to the chart table but that very rarely gets used as its a little cumbersome to use and is dated. All our navigation is done on tablets using Navionics. Hope I have answered all your questions, thanks for the comment 😁
Thanks! I've finished watching your circumnavigation series and it's absolutely great. You should post your portland bill video separately with a click bait title. It really is an absolute eye opener. (I have done the inshore route in a powerboat which is much easier!) Will be watching your Atlantic trip next!
That's not loads of boats! Solent can often be wall to wall - possibly a racing fleet stretched out over the channels from a racing mark on the island shore to one on the mainland shore! Try threading your way through that. Much nicer when it's quiet like you had it.
brilliant video again lads, "white sticks" titters, you have a great chemistry between you, I'd have probably de-bagged my brother by now ha ha, carry on doing this lads really good fun and enjoyable film, fair winds boys :)

No "right of way" in the ColRegs only give way and stand on and be prepared to take evasive action. Braver than me against a Wight Ferry!
@Hugh Shepherd no where in colregs is the phrase right of way used, even for ferries. Normal rules apply to the ship and yacht in the video.

Fab video as always . What’s the difference between a nautical mile and a road mile ? Xx
Great question,
1 nautical mile is equivalent to 1.1 road miles.
So the nautical mile is slighty longer
Thank you I don’t know too much about sailing but I love watching your journeys x
