    Its simple math, if the soil temp is 55 or less and you want to maintain 72 that's a 17+ delta t. Not alot but in today's ecomy every little bit helps especially that foot or so above ground concrete that could have a 100 degree delta t.

      It’s substantially warmer in my basement now than it is upstairs. So it’s working.

    i like your technique of squirting the foam through the tapcon hole. once the foam hardens it stops the panel from pushing in, while the tapcon stops the panel from pulling out. smart!

      I thought it fairly clever as well. Thanks for noticing. For me it’s a way to ease my mind and know the system will work for many many years.

    could you use this system as an exterior insulation system ?

      Yes you can and yes I have. It would be fantastic for a renovation if you were upgrading your windows and siding. It adds a lot of r-value in minimal steps and would help air tightness and reduce thermal breaks.

    What is the benefit of insulating your basement? When and where is this needed?

      if you are finishing it.

      Whether you are in a warm or cold climate there’s always a temperature difference between your indoors and the outdoors. Insulation will reduce energy costs. And it’s the next step to having extra finished space in your home.

      @@uptokode Thx. I was wondering if it improved energy usage regardless of whether space is intended to be used finished.

      It’s helping my energy usage but more importantly the space is much more comfortable! It helps in a lot of ways. And when energy prices go up you in turn save more money by thinking ahead and insulating.

    Theres no way this has a better result than closed cell spray foam. What kind of price difference is there between the two?

    • @conradcoolerfiend
      @conradcoolerfiend Рік тому +1

      for closed cell, you also have to conventionally frame the walls. this is kind of a "2 in 1" solution. So there may be labor savings in addition to material. Also, this is DIY friendly, whereas with closed cell you have to contract it, adding cost.

      @@conradcoolerfiend O yea I get that, but DIY is only valuable if it results in a lot of money being saved...

      This method also allows for moisture in the concrete to escape. If you put this on the walls after using Dricore R panels, there would be an air gap all around. Helpful for and older home that might not have the best under slab or wall moisture control

      In my area this Homega product is right around $2.25 per square foot. Closed cell soray from at 3” thick is over $5 per sq ft. And like the other guy said, you still need to frame the wall to use spray foam.

      Thanks Tom. I could learn a lot from you by the sounds of it.
