Thank you this is exactly the video I was looking for, I was very doubtful to find this video. Most are just about WRXs
My 2013 Impreza’s seats are some of the most comfortable seats I’ve ever felt in a car. I wouldn’t replace them. Good vid tho.
Bro this is so real there the most comfortable things in the world !!
Do you have any tips to maintain your Impreza or any tips on the car?
My 2012 is fine in the drivers side but passenger has no option of going down or up so its uncomf
No way.
My 2014 feels like a brand new bus seat at best.
My seat cracks and pops.
They tear/rip if you look at em the wrong way tho
"This car is slow so I recommend upgrading your brakes" lmao
I thought the same thing. Slow car needs to slow down even faster. Lol
🤷♂️
Well maybe he means you can break into corners later/less than you can now to gain you some time on speed
@msamanga2277 It does race-car so hard!
Good list
An added suggestion:
Noico sound deadening mat in the floors, trunk and doors. Upgraded stereo and speakers. The stock system is utterly abysmal. For $600 you can do all that and have something on par with the 2018 and newer Harmon Kardon systems.
as long as you get the manual version of these cars they have some serious zip. i mean, it's nothing crazy, but it definitely has some pull that is enjoyable and makes driving the car a lot of fun. having full control over your gears will really allow you to get some speed out of it. the fact that you're getting almost 10+ mpg over the WRX is worth it to me, but if you really want a race car then this is the wrong car. this is an economical beast, affordable AWD, and it's fun to drive (if you're driving a manual!)
i don't know how i feel about the interior swap, that money would be better saved and used towards buying an actual wrx, but that's just my opinion.
also, a muffler delete will definitely help bring out the iconic subie rumble on this car. a muffler delete on a car that is quiet as a mouse to begin with isn't gonna do you much harm unless you plan on revving the absolute piss out of it every day when you leave for work :)
Just got my manual 2015 2.0i cant wait
Absolutely agree with you, brother
I have a 14' manual, it does sound good when hitting those higher RPMs, and it is quick enough for the horsepower and torque is has.
I have a 14' Sport, all stock other than the radio, my biggest issue is noise, any mods that would help isolate some noise while at least doing highway speeds?
I do feel like the simple axle back muffler delete is perfect for the Impreza it’s not too loud and it’s not quiet so it’s just a nice add on in my opinion
I've a 2018 Impreza sport. Thanks for the heads up on performance. Think I'll follow your footsteps and just make it clean.
Please everyone hear me out.
Just buy super gas and use high octane booster from AutoZone.
You will notice the some power.
That is your cheapest and best option
This is a really well thought out video! Keep up the good work
i got this same car and i have put rims and mud flaps on im going to put coil overs on and im also doing an exhaust but this car is slow but it still dosent change the fact you can make it look nice....but ima use mine as a daily and then buy an e40 as soon as possible .
Ive searched for aftermarket tail lights for this car and I only find oem tail lights. Do they not have aftermarket taillights for this car???
Aye Tom! Were you constantly adding oil to the impreza in between oils changes!? I'm about to buy a 2013!
I have a 2012 and don’t really need to add/ change oil as often as some other cars. Shouldn’t really be too big of an issue for you
I'm definitely never going off road. So I'm seriously considering lowering it a little.
Lowering your impreza slightly will give it a better handling capability and reduce the body roll. Reflecting on my ownership with this Impreza, the highlight of this vehicle was its handling. It definitely lacked Oomph but it had very good handling characteristics.
@@TomVangTV whats a good brand name lowering coils ? not coilovers just springs
I was going to buy a manual 2013 Impreza.
I live in NY so Ik the Cali laws r much more strict..
Is there anything at all I can do to increase its HP even a little
Or even get a greater “oomf” off the line?
When I owned my Impreza, I was met with a wall. The FB20 engine is not a performance engine and there is no way around getting any horsepower out of it. There are no tuners available for this engine as well (or that I am aware of). The closest thing to a glimpse of hope was in Canada, there was a Crosstrek that was WRX-swapped. The entire WRX drivetrain and interior was swapped over to a Crosstrek. But the cost was somewhere around $20k+. At that point, I decided to leave the Impreza and get a WRX.
Hi! Love your videos, I also have a 2012 Impreza and my brother just got the 2019 WRX. So I have a question for you, can you give me any tips or do you have a DIY VIDEO for the mudflaps? My Impreza also has that Tim part and I like how you have both things on the car but I don't know how to install them, any tips help, thanks!
Hi Ricky! Which brand of mudflaps did you buy? I don’t have my Impreza anymore but if you purchased the same set I did from Rally Armor, it should have came with a bracket set and pins. There was also an instruction manual included and I followed it, and lined up the flaps accordingly. It’s actually a lot easier to do on the Impreza vs the WRX. Email me if you have any other questions. I’ll do my best to help you. TomVangTV@gmail.com
In my opinion, I would rather buy the 2.0 Impreza over the wrx mainly because you can get a pretty good deal for a used 2012 Impreza with 100k miles on it than you would get with a 2012 wrx with 100k miles on it, but you know to each his own, and I really liked this video! Might just go out and buy a 2012 Impreza!
Pretty true. I currently own a 2013 Impreza that I paid less than 8k for 2 years ago with about 40k miles on it. And About a year ago I bought a 2012 WRX STI with 60k miles and it cost me 26k. The cars keep their value and Wrx's and Sti's especially run on the high end. But they're very fun cars and greatly respected. And I mean 265-305 hp stock wins me over. My impreza is still pretty fun and a lot more practical (although I still hate myself for getting an auto). They're very underpowered compared to the latter two, but worth it in my opinion (plus, awd is always a good thing to have, depending where you live). Can't beat that if you're trying to save money
Make sure all the maintenance has been kept up. Wheel bearings, head gaskets, timing belt to name a few. I like when I go Impreza shopping and know what goes wrong with these cars. The salesman can't BS me.
I have always replaced brakes on my subarus since 2001. For better handling, replace rear trailing arms, not lower, just stiffer.
Awesome, however I went a different route lol first I tinted the windows myself 2%, looking so nice now, no longer a fish bowl lol, unfortunately mine came with hubcaps however I bought new ones and painted them gloss white and my car is pearl white, it looks awesome, a little too bright though so what I did was bought black carbon fiber vinyl wrap, wrapped it to where the lines down the hood are kept the otherside white on each sides, wrapped the top and spoiler, let me tell you It looks amazing! Wrapped the head lights and tail lights with dark tint, 🤯 looks so awesome, lettering decal on front windshield and back in red, for exhaust I went with nameless 3" quad tips and 5" muffer, nothing crazy loud, but it does rumble! That's pretty much it for the exterior, but to the conclusion it is not fast at all! 😂😂😂😂 BUT IT CERTAINLY LOOKS LIKE IT WILL GIVE YOU A RUN FOR YOUR MONEY! 😅 Lastly since it's not fast, what I did was bought a pedal Commander, all I have to say is idk why people hate! But it's feels so much faster and snappier! It definitely helps with acceleration! Last thing I'm probably going to do is put a system in it, maybe down the line if I don't trade it in, put a turbo in it! However that's quite a pricey purchase, a turbo itself and labor installation is already way more then what I put into the car as far as mods! Well see! Nice video
Hey I have a question. How is this car speed-wise (acceleration/top speed) compared to a 2011 Subaru Legacy 2.5i premium? Edit: i'm looking to buy a car soon, and i'm stuck between a 2012 Subaru Impreza 2.0i Limited Sedan and the 2011 Legacy
Legacy = More speed, Impreza = better Fuel Consumption.
I think raising it to make it like the Crosstrek. more ground clearance for offroading.
I agree with most of what you said, especially what mods not to do. I am considering getting a 2018 Impreza Sport Hatchback in the future, with most of the factory accessories. The mesh grille is a consideration, the stock blacked out Sport grill will do for a while. It already has 18" wheels, but they have available black 18" STI wheels. Brakes also are a consideration. I like the improved interior of the 2018 Sport. I would love the WRX Recaro seats, but they would be Overkill unless it had at least WRX power. Brakes may be upgraded, if only better pads, but again, only if really needed, as I don't intend to really push it or race it. If I don't get the loaded packages with the Eye Sight and Harman Kardon system, I will get the optional Rockford Fosgate upgrade, since that's my favorite car stereo amp and speaker brand. Intake and exhaust should only be added if there is a tune for it, and yes, while under warranty, it's best to keep everything stock, with a few exceptions.
Thanks brotha for the kind words and feedback. The Impreza's best attributes are its handling. This thing can take corners like nothing! I still think it handles better than my current WRX. It's fast but it lacks some of the qualities slower vehicles possess.
The WRX is nice, but expensive, and has drawbacks. I bet the new one with the global platform will be much better. I'm a car enthusiast, but older and don't need all the horsepower and speed. I had an 84 Buick GN, and a 2006 Chevy Impala SS with Flowmaster exhaust. I rather have smaller cars now. I have a 2011 Chevy Cruze RS I may fix. But might sell it, and get the Impreza Sport Hatchback. My two friends have Honda Civic Type Rs. I was considering a Civic Sport Hatchback, or Si Sedan, but the Impreza has things the others don't, like a CD player, and better radio and stick handling with AWD and torque vectoring, improved styling, interior, and durability. I don't race, and no longer in HPD, so I don't have to chase anyone. Lol Maybe the aftermarket Flux Capacitor may be available later. *A running joke with my Type R friends.
Was the seats a direct swap? No mods needed?
Hey so I just got a 2015 version and noticed that the front a rear bumper have slight different shades of white. Not sure if yours has that too, but ive been told certain manufactures paint the bumpers after and have slight different colors. lol just making sure because its driving me nuts!
Yes that's typical of most car manufacturers. Mine is the same as well. From a distance, you won't notice it. But if you look up close you'll see the difference. It's annoying. My Sports Mesh Grille is also a different shade of white lol.
Hi Tom do you have any suggestions for wheelcovers/hubcaps,Dealer wants 80.00 for one.I have a 2014 Impreza base. Thanks
If you don't want to pay dealership price, I recommend checking out a dismantle shop. Here in Sacramento, there are tons of dismantle shops in Rancho Cordova run by Russians. It's very easy to find used parts.
Just put on new rims and tires, rokblokz mud flaps, sport mesh grille, and nameless muffler delete. I would do brakes and interior but there not too bad on my car rn. I’m gonna do some hella horns next then save up for some coil overs to drop the car about an inch to get rid of some of the fender gap. I would tint the car but the cops around me ticket for that all the time.
That's a great plan! Yes I agree with you on tint. Tint makes a world of a difference in aesthetics but also in the cabin experience. But window tint is an easy reason to be pulled over and hence why I never got it.
Jusy got the limited sport same color doing exhaust coilovers and wheels
Car is looking good!
John Nguyen thanks! I look forward to being semi-famous and collating with you:)
would you recommend a professional tune? would you gain power?
All I did was black roof tint black mirrors to match my tint yellow fogs mudflaps and rear Red fog stop light. And it looks perfect in my opinion
I've seen Imprezas with that setup before and I agree, it looks beautiful. Reminiscing back, I honestly loved my Impreza. I just fell out of love with it and all of the things I initially thought I could live without, I began to yearn for. Ultimately why I sold the Impreza and bought a WRX.
Cars don't have to be fast to be fun. Good handling, good brakes, good sound, and that's a fun car. You can drive the balls off it everywhere you go and not run into trouble with the law.
Nice video man!
Check out the borla s exhaust i just got one for my 2015 Subaru Impreza hatchback and it is so much better sound like a baby wrx sti has no drone on the highway and because it is a lot lighter than the stock exhaust it feels like the rear is more balanced around corners. Bolted right on no mods
When you got the rims did you put the stock tires with it?
Kano Gitarista yup. It was a simple swap over. I had Les Schwab do it for me.
Painted my wheels on my 02 Impeza Gloss Black.
How much did you get later model interior for and did you install it yourself? Thanks!
Yes I installed it myself. It's very easy and a direct plug and play. I got my WRX interior for cheap, at $500 for the full complete interior set.
my boy please tell me you have any suggestions for mods for a 2017 2.0i I've been looking everywhere but no one on youtube is modding that model. i need help
Did you end up finding what you are looking for?
@@DanielLopez-dv4uw lol nope
@@purquos ive got a 2018 and so far ive removed the charcoal air filter... if yours has one u can rip it out but its not gonna do a whole lot. aside from that idk man
You can always flash your ecu. It's 200 for the tune and 150 for the cable from throttle happy.
Stephen Kluthe yeah I had planned for that. But the owner took a while to respond. He said he was swamped with orders. But I just sold off my car. I want a wrx but it’s a bit steep right now. Might get a FRS for the time being and enjoy thrashing it around.
Ah, thats a bummer. Have a friend with an impreza and he loved the tune. If you're looking for something fun and cheap to hold you over the G37 might be a good choice. It's basically a luxury 370z that can fit 4 people. It'll have very little road noise and has enough power to beat the WRX in a race.
Stephen Kluthe I’m going to Japan at the end of this month. When I come back, I have my eyes set on the WRX. I’m going to get it.
Stephen Kluthe where can i Do this ? I live in Canada
mathieu dale look for “Happy Throttle Tuning” on Facebook. He responds quickly and will assist you directly.
Do you have a video installing your rally armor mudflaps?
Andy Salcido unfortunately no. However, if you buy the rallyarmor brand, it lines up perfectly and the screws are all included. It’ll take you less than 30 minutes. Rallyarmor is the best flaps out there. It’s sturdy and not flimsy.
Maybe it's jus time to try to put them on. I've had my rally armor flaps for about 3 month's & haven't installed lol
Andy Salcido Andy Salcido the front flaps are easier to install. The rear ones you’ll have to jack up the car a little to give it more space to put the screws in place. I used my emergency jack and did fine. It’s one of the easier mods to install. You got it my friend! I believe in you😁
Can the wrx c headlights fit the base model?
Sorry to point that out, but are you sure about your wheels to be 17x9 ? The Enkei EDR9 doesn't even list this size. And on an 2.0i, 9 inchs rims won't fit without stinking out of the front fender by an inch or so. And the original tire size would to much of a stretch to fit on a 9 inchs rim.
Yes you are right, this is my error. I believe it was 17x8.5. Thank you for pointing that out. I apologize if I mislead you and the others.
TomVangTV come on man! Check your specs... they are 17x8. 17x8.5 doesn't exist for this wheels. It is written inside the spokes of the wheels usually. Check your info before posting stuff like that. Its your credibility that is in the line if you want people on your channel. And for the offset, for those who asked the question without any answers, it is probably +45 sunce the wheel are not sticking out the front fender.
Lol I got in this car and drove it just because I work at a dealership and its really nice but to slow for me it pissed me off everytime i pressed the gas so I bought a wrx
Mine is funny. Sometimes it feels like you said. Other times its surprised a couple of people. Mainly freeway. Idk what to say...lol
Yo I’ve seen your car in San Jose mall. It looked so dope lowered and those hella horns
Great video and well said! I would have thought your car was lowered as it looks good as it is.
You talkn big brake kit or just better rotors and pads?
Dave M better rotors and pads. Oreily’s has a good selection for DIY under $100. Lifetime warranty and replacement. Meaning more money saved in the long run so we can put more towards a wrx:)
That's what I want Dave M, looking for what big brakes will bolt on, replacement pads/rotors is minimal upgrade in braking.
Thanks for the video!
I put a CAI, throttle control module and led headlights and fogs on my girl's 2013 Impreza hatch for about $400 said and done. Has a lot more get up and go and much better night vision now. Better use of money than all this stuff but whatever I guess lol
What size tiers on the 17” x 9.0”
How many miles do y'all have. My 2013 Is a piece of poop.
Why is it a piece of poop
What's the color of this car? Its hot
WHEELS NOT RIMS 😅😅
Spend money to make slow car look pretty or just drive as is and save money faster to get what you really want? Nah I'll spend money making pretty so it takes longer to get what I really want. This is brilliant. 🤣🤣🤣
Making it look prettier does increase resale value overall, of course the car will reduce in value over the years but you’ll get some of that back
Are those both mud guards AND mud flaps?
Ian Poorman yes sir. The mud flaps by themselves tend to flail and flop around as you go faster. With the guards on, the flaps arch and keeps its composure. Sounds weird but I hope I’m making sense.
TomVangTV no yeah it makes sense. Which did you install first? Was it tricky to install one once the other was on? I've heard some people say the flaps don't go on well if the guards are on
Ian Poorman the guards went on first. And no it wasn’t tricky. It was a perfect fit. You just have to make sure the wheels don’t rub on the flaps and there’s enough clearance when the wheels turn. Other than that it’s good to go.
What’s the offset on your rims ?
"these seats feel a lot like bucket seats". Just saying they are bucket seats. All that means is that it is not a bench seat, a single seat that goes all the way across the car making 3 seats
Honestly you could’ve bought a wrx with all the extra money and effort you put into this. Looks good though.
I want to lift it with Crosstrek struts/springs
I lowered mine instead
How fast can the 2012 hatchback go?
Are you referring to the impreza in this video? If so, they are rated 148 hp. Corollas and Civics from this generation has more pep to them vs this car.
TomVangTV the 2012 Subaru Impreza wagon
Yoooo I got the same rims on my impreza! Haven’t seen anyone else with these
Which model of rims are they?
I’m keeping my seats. As for my speakers…? Those gotta be swapped
where is a good spot to get the wrx seats
Your best bet is to search your local craigslist for a 2015+ WRX that is parting out. I got a sweet deal, $200 for driver, $200 for passenger, and $250 for rear seats, totalling $650. Install was very easy and well worth it.
What was rim and tyre size? And offset?
The tire size came stock from Subaru from their premium trim. The original wheels were 17x5. The rims were Enkeis 17x9 and I just transferred over the tires. Not sure about offset but my Impreza was at stock height. No rubs or clearance issue. It did however make my vehicle look lowered with the black on white.
So, u put mud flaps in top of ur mud gaurds
Dude you keep saying this car is slow, I have the same car I run premium gas 93 octane, definitely not slow, I have the six-speed paddle shifter CVT 6 speed transmission..
7 out of the 8 min video, you get to look at the driver side of the car.
You said it! Muffler does not do you any good! And so is the rims, the seats, the grill, and the and mud flaps! Brakes... Maybe! Save your money! If you want fast and sporty, buy one that is. That car is to take you from point A to point B. Save your money, Save your money, and Save your money!
you can also add Borla 11843 fit for Impreza & Crosstrek.
Lol true this car is slow. Went to a 2015 from my 98 accord damn that thing had so much more oomf. At least my ac works.
Are you at the Scripps la Jolla parking structure? Lol
No this is the Sac State Parking Structure.
no spoiler??
Yes, new rims... for weight savings, and anything BUT black.
lighter wheels good tires coilovers brake kits and maybe if u want to fk around weld on some aftermarket muffler or something
I would raise it 2 inches instead of lowering it, sort of like the Crosstrek , and you should also install a white rear deck spoiler, it would look even more sporty. I have a 2012 just like you have but Dark Grey Metallic. I was looking at these wheels: audiocityusa.com/shop/18-Marquee-Wheels-M8888-Gloss-Black-Rims.html
www.carid.com/2012-subaru-impreza-rear-window-spoilers/?filter=1&sub-model[ourBodyTypeName][]=Wagon
Black is a non-color. You can't see black on wheels or aero modifications.
This is a joke, there are all kinds of kids you can do to a stock 2.0. you could off at least mentioned cheap ones such as an air intake and chip. Or exhaust and a turbo, just bolt on mods alone. They even make bolt on super chargers for these things.
Rear sway bar. Whiteline. .
Man I just bought some rokbloks mudflaps ):
How much were they? Just make sure they’re not flimsy.
TomVangTV $110 on Amazon, and a lot of people use them, they’re a competitor for rally armor
TomVangTV and thanks for the informational video ! I’m looking for ways to improve my 18’ Impreza hatchback
young 50stacks that’s good. As long as it’s not flimsy. A few buddies of mine went the cheap route and bought China brand mudflaps for about 50 bucks. It’s flimsy and flops all over.
I love my rokblokz
Scrappy interior?! You've never driven any chevy car have you?
Maybe a turbo, a CAI too. Not make it a ricer
This guy has the same car, colour and rims as me wth 😂
@tomvangtv, I love your subie bro! Check out my instagram! We have the same subies!!

Ultimately as to why I sold my vehicle off.
@@TomVangTV I ended up buying a 1999 Forester S.
So it’s ok to look fast but not sound fast? Come on do the muffler delete lol
DATBOY559Mw2 Don’t worry, I did the nameless muffler delete, it sounds amazing! It gurgles a lot I love it. I’ll be doing a turbo on the fb20 or an ej20 swap. Part of me wants to get around 250 hp and enjoy my hatchback. I love my car just would love to be over 200. Once it’s paid off I’ll be on the lookout for a wrx to make my rally car. People can say you should have gotten a wrx but I got a steal of a deal on my 2018 hatchback and even after adding a turbo and rims/tires I’m still a few grand under a wrx and I get the car I prefer.
Hey man, I have a 2018 Impreza Hatchback S and I want a turbo because I love the car and want it to play the part of its aggressive looks, can you tell me where you got your turbo from and what other performance mods you've done? Feel free to DM or just reply here. Thanks!

nice Crosstrek!
A inch and a half crazy I max out my coilovers 🤣 I’m no pussy
Buy a wrx man
kun534 ever heard of built not bought? They don’t make a hatch as a wrx or sti hatchback anymore
i was going to buy a cheap 2008 civic with k20 engine, instead i got scammed with the looks of a 2018 subaru impreza base. it’s so fckn slow, is should have got a k20 and trubo it then drive to the sunset. instead im driving a turtle

Yo you like fat white bitches?
How about UEL headers, higher flowing cat back exhaust with muffler deletes, upgraded spark plugs and injectors.
Drive a manual like an man and you can do a short throw, lighter flywheel and if you’re feeling ballsy upgrade the clutch. And if you need more noise throw on a shitty intake. And a SPT tune from Subaru.
That’s how you make a N/A Subaru a fun daily👍🏻
William Rhames I like your way of thinking my good man. I just paid off this car a few months ago and am a bit tired of car payments. I’m looking forward to this rumor of a wrx refresh/new platform in 2020. If it’s not disappointing I’ll jump ship. I’m tired of living an eco-friendly life:)
with all your money spend trying to make this car into a riser. why dont you just get a wrx or an sti? what a mongoloid this guy...
I agree. I was such an unhappy soul during the creation of this video...
wow...mud flaps over mud guards. thats a new one..... GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY
logix7 I like how you liked your own comment. But thanks again for watching my video and helping me get paid.
It’s pronounced en-Kay not en-key and they’re wheels not rims
Did you sell the rims?
I sold it with my vehicle.
the rims were 450 a piece?
no, it was $450 total for all 4.
where did you find that? when i look for them (from canada) its like 300 each. also i have the sport 2012, and the bore is different measurement, and the lugs distance different as well. but it seems like it fit your car? any issues with how it drove with them on?
myfukinarmhurts I got mine at a good time when the website was doing a seasonal clearance. If it fits your spoke pattern it should be fine. I had no problems when I had these on. I used my stock tires and transferred it over to these. My stock wheels were 17x7.5 and these were 17x9.5
sweet thanks alot! love the vids too
I beat hella people stock lmaooo
