About me
Hola a todos 👋🏽 I’m Jerry, I learned Spanish from 0 to fluent, have taken the Spanish C2 mastery exam, and I make videos to help you learn Spanish and connect to the people and cultures that surround this beautiful language. Whether you're just starting out or want to keep improving, I've got something for you, so come aboard and join this Spanish adventure! 🥂
A few people were asking for in-depth prompts, so I tested and published a detailed book of 100 vetted language prompts here to get you started:

Put chat gpt 4 in duolingo. 😂
@@carkawalakhatulistiwa I think they might fully integrate it soon😂 Looks like they're talking about some small tests now
google translate would do pretty much the same thing 15+ years ago back when Verizon flagship phones were windows mobile..... my HTC Nuclear Elephant still has it and worked the last time I booted it
ChatGPT makes frequent errors, don't recommend it for teaching yet.
I asked ChatGPT to help me with my French. Three sentences in- it was trying to teach me that "how are they doing" means "how are you doing".
I asked it to double-check that information, but it was certain that it was correct.
Massive fail.
You could use it to practice a language- as long as you could spot the mistakes.
Companies are developing filters, that will help weed out those mistakes.
It doesnt work quite well for long responses, after a minute per example, there are apps that fully integrate microphone like Alicja AI and you can have a full conversation with them recording up to 5-10 minutes per request
ChatGPT doesn’t kill Traditional Language Learning and won’t, like the way TV didn’t kill Radio and Computer didn’t kill TV. We just got more choices 😊
Exactly :)
Compact disc (CD) killed tape record and vinyl, then mp3 killed CD, then Itunes killed mp3, now Spotify killed radio and mp3. Another example: UA-cam killed TV, it's what it is...

I am so thrilled at how I can use these chatbots now for advanced grammar, vocabulary, colloquialisms ad get detailed explanations. It's also easy now to compare all 5 languages simultaneously. It will be even better when they add pronunciations like google translate 🙂

Awesome video, this is so helpful and I am already set in. I managed with your prompt to edit it a little, so that chatGPT will give me his answer and the translation word by word of what is he saying and just with the trick of the iphone I can listen to his answer by dividing it into paragraphs. Thanks man.
Nice work! Getting the wording for these prompts is sometimes a nightmare, but it's nice when you land it and get ChatGPT to do what you want. If you get to try out the 100 prompt book I wrote, (now added to the description) I'd love to know what you think of it 🙏🏽

INSANE ChatGPT KILLED LaNgUAge LEarNING!!!
Some people are obsessed with AI, pretending it can solve everything. Then in their attempt to prove it they come up with examples that usually end up being much more complicated and time consuming than the usual basic shit, like reading and listening 😂
He's just presenting it as an additional option, not a total solution. My colleagues get bored helping me practice my French - they've got work to do so after briefly humouring me they switch to English. ChatGPT is incapable of getting bored so I'm giving this a try ...alongside reading and listening etc.
Any idea why it didn't work for me? I think I followed all the steps, but it's not talking back. Also, I didn't see the audio button. What am I missing? Thanks
This is insane! I am chatting with ChatGPT in my various languages on my phone! I'm able to switch instantly between languages. Great work young man!

This is ground breaking. More insight can be gained if Ai could plug into the social media landscape to pick up human nuances, which is a huge requirement for the transition to AGi.
Don't forget, Apple Translate app in iOS also works for translator and without internet sometimes works too.
I wish Siri is upgraded to conversation level.

I can't seem to get the small blue volume tab to appear in order to read a selected text. Only a full on read everything I touch option, it's not functional as is for language learning. Any tips to get it to function like yours?
Are you on Android? There may be slightly different steps for some models. Maybe I can help if I know your phone model
@@JerryRegistre Correct. Android version 11 with MIUI or Xiaomi OS.
I have the same issue on an older OPPO phone, and what's more even when I manually select text to be read it always reads back in English and not the chosen language. Maybe my phone is too old. (2020).
I'm having a problem with the Spanish speaking speed. I have English & Spanish voices enabled, & "Detect Languages" ON for the Spoken Content settings. If I tap a paragraph that is mostly English, the English voice reads it, & responds to my changes in speed, either through the sidebar button or on Settings. But if I tap a Spanish paragraph, it reads it at hyperspeed & doesn't respond to the speed controls. Any suggestions?
On android when I select the settings "select to speak shortcut" I end up having a button that I select to get my android to read aloud. I am I able to have a back and forth conversation without constantly hitting my microphone for audio input and select to speak in order to read allouf.
How can this be done automatically?

I took Mandarin for two years. There is a process to actually learning which doesn't have shortcuts. Knowing how similar words are used in different situations and understanding the culture is something a translator can't do.😮
Normal translators definitely can't! But AI is getting scary good with its language skills 😅
@@JerryRegistrethat's right. Can't even imagine what AI will be like in a few years time.

Who's the guy crying in the thumbnails of your videos? Saludos desde México y gran trabajo
Haha this was an inside joke that I ended up keeping. It’s Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Google. The joke was that ChatGPT got Google nervous about competition since people could now get fast answers to their questions instead of looking things up on Google.

This Chatgpt can correct our grammer especially for english? Or any suggestion for those kinda app for pc / mobile.
Cannot find the select to speak on a Galazy s22. Any help?
You're a smart guy.
Your native language is highly accessible to you from the language centers of your brain. You don't need devices to comprehend, speak, read, or write your native language. Learning a new language entails developing the same structures and connections in your brain for another language. Using devices, reading at the appropriate level, conversing with natives, etc., may help you get there, but in the end all that matters is what's in your head. The goal is device independence. 🙂

What difference this from classic google languages translator with voice support? In google translater this much simple: type text and get text/voice answer in any languages.

I’m interested in creating chat between two AI in natural English. Is it possible to create that with talk-to-ChatGPT? If not can you suggest any good idea? By the way your video is very encouraging to English learners like me.
Really happy to hear that 🙏🏽 When you refer to a chat between two AI, do you mean a text chat or a voice dialogue?
If it’s a back and forth text chat between AI, there’s an example in the first AI video I made for this playlist
It could be interesting to set up the voice plugins on two computers and have them go back and forth. Another option could be to manually copy the responses from one AI into the thread with another
I haven’t thought much about this kind of use, but I’ll come back and share if anything else comes to mind.

i think these tools in some ways though enable people to NOT learn the primary language of the country they are living in. Just in the past few months I have had multiple packages delivered by various delivery companies and the drivers didn't know how to speak basic English. I don't even know how they passed their drivers license test (written and road test, as one driver was Turkish, and where I live I can guarantee the motor vehicle agency, does Not have a driving exam tester that speaks Turkish), and got a job where they need to interact with the public. In instance the driver dropped off the wrong package at my house and didn't deliver my package, so I needed to interact with her. Sure they can use these language tools, but I was speaking very slowly and just a few basic words I would expect someone to understand if they living/working/driving in a country. It is different if you are using it for traveling, or first learning a language (but in this case they were using it as a crutch). I never had this happen before when interacting with someone who was an immigrant, somehow we could communicate basic words to get the meaning across (for before these language tools were available)>
I am wondering.... at the speed this technology is developing, will we need to learn languages at all? An English speaker could talk to a French speaker by speaking English into his phone and having this translated in real time into (spoken) French and vice versa. Indeed, when voice imitation is added it would even sound like you! It's like having Startrek's Universal Translator or A Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy's Babelfish in your pocket!
that doenst work person to person
Language isn't rigid and context determines the bulk of translations in basic human interactions. For simple stuff you can use these things but when someone uses a homophone for a joke based on a commercial everyone in the country knew but nobody ever created a Wikipedia entry for, you'll be just as lost as your device is. Take it from someone who spent a day tracking down a old Chinese commercial for a candy just to understand pimple joke that used homophones in the jingle when every translation engine I used gave a result for marijuana (which could never be the answer if you know how China feels about drugs).
Was thinking exactly the same thing. I think we're close
Besides the answers already written I would like to add something else.
Think DEEPLY about how you communicate with someone who speaks the same language as you. For example think about the last time you went out with your friends. How was the conversation? I'm sure it was smooth, with people answering questions quickly and probably even finishing the sentences somebody started, etc.
Now imagine that same situation with someone who speaks a language you don't know. Imagine you have THE PERFECT translator with 0 errors if you want (like chatgpt but better) How do you imagine that conversation would go? You think it would be the same? It's gonna take extra time for translation without a doubt and, because of that, do you think the conversation will take the same twists, mood and depth than the one you had with your friends? I doubt it.
Relying on a perfect translator can be great when you want to ask for a specific thing for a moment (like asking for directions or the menu while you are travelling) but having a NORMAL conversation? Don't think so... We are humans and we have a very specific way to interact.
Want another example? Imagine you are the CEO of an American company and you are going to close an important deal with a Brazilian company... only a meeting is left... you have 2 options for people to send: 1 person who is fluent in Portuguese and someone who is not but can use the perfect translator... who would you send?
Exactly.
All true and fair... however .... how many language learners will actually reach the level required to understand or make (homophone) jokes or to finish somebody's sentence? I think we are all amazed (shocked?) by what ChatGPT et al. can already do, so I wouldn't be amazed if similar programmes start finishing sentences or making jokes... For fun I just typed: Finish the following sentence "You won't pass your exams if..." Reply: " ...if you don't study diligently, understand the material and practice solving problems regularly"
