And I knew my way around the darkroom. But now, at 65, I need a clear explanation of post-processing. And that's what I get from you. I do not understand why you only have 280 Subscribers. I am a professional Photographer and watch Tuts as one can always learn something new. Your relaxed way make it so easy to follow. I have always had a bit of a problem with luminance masks but not any more. Great content and presentation.
Great video, well explained & easy to follow. Thank you! There is a quicker way to arrive at "intersect" With your brush (or other) mask made, press & hold the alt key (option on mac) and the add / subtract icons will change to intersect. You can then select luminance range (or whatever you want) Two quick clicks instead of three.
Great tip! I knew about that one but I always seem to gravitate to the menu. I need to start using it more like you suggested to speed workflow along. Thanks!

Excellent explanation especially on the Intersect mask. My challenge is kids sports photography, specifically hockey. The ice is always 'blaring' and trying to find an effective workflow to lower the luminance of just the ice surface. I look forward to tackling it again utilizing some of your techniques, subtly of course :-) Thank you
Sounds great! You might also try generative remove in Photoshop with the glare. As long as the glare is on an area which is not too complicated, it may be able to knock down some of the glare. I have used it on eye glass glare with some success. All depends on how complicated the area is. Just circle the area of glare with your lasso tool. Then select the generative ai tool as you would any gen remove action. Don’t fill anything in the dialog box. Then generate. Hope it works out for you. Thanks for the comment,

Thanks for this thorough and detailed luminosity lesson. I consider myself somewhat accomplished in Lightroom, but I just kind of clunk my way around the luminosity mask so glad that I now know that slider is for feathering! And I learned much more. I’m looking forward to re-editing some of my images that were a challenge luminosity wise.
Sounds great. That is what I love about learning new things or refining your LR skills. You can go back through your photos and end up with a photo much nicer than your previous attempt. Good luck. Let me know if I can help at all.
Thanks for your insistence of subtle changes. I'm finding that cumulatively subtle changes can add up to be a little too much. I do like to start with Auto Tone, and am finding that a little further decreasing the Blacks and adding some Texture, Clarity, and Dehaze may push things too far, so I'm now reducing Contrast and Saturation/Vibrance
Yeah, it is fine dance between all these settings. Just hearing how you adjust or NOT adjust confirms to me, some people just hit it too hard sometimes. I find if I put a photo away and then come back to it the next day...things appear a little more clear to me. Thanks for your comments. They really help!
I'm always trying to improve my post-production skills and masking has always been an intimidating aspect. Your instruction style is very good and I find it helpful. Thanks! BTW, by Eastern Shore do you mean Mid-Atlantic region? I'm Delaware based so just curious.

No, I do not believe it does. I have tired looking everywhere and talking to several of my expert friend and unfortunately it is not a function in the LR for iPad or phones. You would need to rely on the Add or Subtract function instead. I will see if I can come up with some workaround to help out with this issue.
