Love the space battle sequence in the biggining! Really shows how outclassed the UNSC was during the war. Also notice the distinct lack of cruisers as during the later stages of the war, there was litteraly 20-ish individual cruisers in the entirety of the fleet, so in this fleet engagement, the UNSC not having any cruisers is 100% canon! The ODST drop sequence is pretty dope as well! Can't wait to see the complete product!
Not TECHNICALLY true. There were at least 64 heavy cruisers in one section of the Home Fleet (Halo 2) but frigates did essentially become the UNSC Navy's poor bloody infantry.
@@ClericOfPholtus May be nitpicking, but they also weren't Halcyons (mostly retired aside from Pillar of Autums) we see mostly Marathons, but the other parts of Home Fleet might have had Halcyons. Certainly they couldn't have been down to just two ship types if they were scrambling everything
@@multiversepatriot3148 I'm pretty sure that in the book "Halo: Fall of Reach" it stated that Captain Keyes was pleasantly surprised at the presence of a Marathon class cruiser at the battle of sigma octanus iv because of how few cruisers in general are left in the fleet (which was stated as 20 if I'm not mistaken), with all of them being put on essentially garrison duty over high value inner colony worlds.

All of SODAZ's halo WIP are lore accurate. The UNSC needs sheer numbers to even have a chance at beating the Covenant in a space battle, however small said chance is. Also, the UNSC is actually quite effective in ground combat engagements (mostly because they have superior tactics and the knowledge of the terrain- which allows them to perform guerilla warfare, which is their most effective option since the UNSC would take heavy losses in a frontal assault), it's only when the Covenant gain orbital superiority that the UNSC ground forces are... Well, f*cked.
And the funny thing about a numbers advantage is the Covenant technically outnumbers and outclassed the UNSC anyways, so their battles had to be picky and hope to god no reinforcements come in(Remember Reach).
That was so fuckin cool. The burning human ships at the beginning, implying the humans are putting up one hell of a fight, but they're slowly but surely loosing to the Covenant onslaught is just perfect.

The fact that you got the ripple effect on the covenant ship shields to work like they do from rockets hitting them is just magic and I literally had to go back and just see that section multiple times just because of the attention to detail.
Dear god, even the way the explosions form on the covenant corvette, flames coming out the hangars indicating an explosion… and don’t get me started on the energy shield fizzles
Amazing work as always! I love the cinematography camera angles, remind me of Battlestar Galactica. And the SFX of the Covenant ships firing around 0:25 sound a lot like the plasma guns from the Terminator 2 intro, which made for a good chuckle.

For anyone complaining why the space battle is too close, this is just an assumption btw so I might get a lot of things wrong. Judging from the debris behind the covenant fleet I think the battle started far away but the covenant fleet decided to rush straight through the UNSC fleet, the UNSC fleet is then unable to retreat since retreating means the Covenant fleet getting significantly closer to the planet they're defending. The UNSC fleet is obviously not there to fight the covenant but delay them with everything they have while the other fleet tries to assist with the evacuation.
