That’s sweet looking. I used to daily my 1977 k10 stepside. Swapped it to a 6.2 / sm465 and 4:56 one tons from a cucv. On highway running 65 she would get 22mpg with the 37’s. Wanted a 4bt but had no cash when I built it. I got some vids up. Hope to turbo the 6.2 and add my ranger OD. Miss driving the truck daily.
I love this truck. I have an 89’ 3+3 4x4 single rear wheel that I’d like to do the 4bt diesel swap to. It’s a 350/sm465/np205 with 4.56 gearing, so I’m already used to going slow, but with really bad mpg.
The bed on my 88 Dodge is doing the same thing... What I did when I restored it was used a cherry picker to lift the bed off the frame, and I could only get enough reach by taking the tail gate off... Huge mistake, I learned truck beds are SUPER strong against outward force, but when your pulling inward on them, they fold up like a pretzel.. Needless to say, even though I got it to where the tail gate fits flush and has even body lines again the bed is crooked, and I just can't get it right lol. I'd have to take the bed off and put it on a frame machine, wich isn't worth the 500 dollar an hour price tag in my opinion, seeing how only tail gaters will notice.
You ain’t lying. And I get a bunch of tailgaters. I’m hoping to shim it a hair up but I don’t really care unless I’m behind it. Which isn’t often cause I have to back in driveway.
At first I just wanted more room and a long bed that was good on fuel. I’ve never been a big fan of gas motors. I already had this motor built just needed a truck to put it in. 6bt has been done so many times and I like to be different. Hence the paint color. Thank you for the comment.
Hello. I have the rhebexact same truck. 1988 gmc crew cab dually. Its actually a k3p now as I changed it over to a 4x4/ dana 60. I used the ORD shackle flip kit with 8 inch lift. I've been having a terrible time finding the right set up for rima and tires. Yours are nice. Exactly what I want. Are those the stock rims? And what size tire did you go with? 37 inch is kind of what I want to go with . If you could help me put, I would appreciate it! The rears stick out a little but thats fine because spacers are needed of I tow.
2inch body lift. Not wanted but had to with trans. 4inch shackle flip front and rear. Rear factory spring with zero rates. Front end is rear blazer 52inch springs with 6inch hangers 6degree wedges and zero rates with 2inch level spring helpers. Hope this helps.
My dads 2001 dodge daully 24v and 5spd 4x4 get 19mpg so you aren't getting much more mpg vs HP and tourqe. Also my 84 k10 bed is tweaked like that but I can't figure out why either.
It gets better fuel mileage on the 37’s. Secondly Ford F-150 v-6 gets better fuel mileage and more power than me. I just like different. Not the run of the mill. I tweaked mine because I moved it by myself with cherry picker. Have that fixed already
Well it’s more torque than a factory big block. So you reaction is common but not the case for me. And 4bt’s came in aluminum box trucks that did well for years. A new video is coming with more info
so what's the mpg? can you use a 1992 nv4500 from a chevy? I have a 1983 3+3 long bed single rear wheel... want to do a 4bt, how is the engine vibration?
Mpgs on 37’s is in twenties but I drive slow and never in a rush. Yes to the nv4500 you just have to have advance adapters bellhousing. I used factory 6bt motor mounts. There are more videos of truck explaining all of this in depth. A 6bt is going to be WAY cheaper just to let you know.
@@primoprimo7547 Hell yeah. I am considering 4bt in 94 suburban. It has a 6.5 turbo now that is getting tired. I have done a 6bt in a square body. It was sloppy and I sold it. But it sure worked good.

Nice truck man, I’m up in Sullivan county
Like the video and the truck btw!
Beautiful 😍

I like 👍 the color
Thank you.

What are the rims, size, offset? Will the rims fit in all 3 spots, front, outer rear, inner rear?
Hey what if the bed is not twisted, but the cab and front is?
Fricken awesome!!! How is tire noise on the hardtop with the humvee tires?
Zero noise. Bad thing is nobody local will balance them. So going down to a 35 or 36.
@@primoprimo7547 thanks, definitely getting a set for my first gen c.s.c.
Why did you go with the 4 over the 6bt? Truck looks awesome!

Factory 16.5 motor home rims with military tires.
@@primoprimo7547 are the tires hard to get ?
Looks good on 37's. What's the lift?

I have a 1983 Chevy k30 and am wanting to lift it and put 37s on it where did you get the rims?
There factory 16.5. Very long search for them. They came on motor homes or dump trucks. Like a cab and chassis frame deal.

So my knee-jerk reaction is that the 4bt is severely underpowered for that truck. Have you addressed that in a video?
Well it’s more torque than a factory big block. So you reaction is common but not the case for me. And 4bt’s came in aluminum box trucks that did well for years. A new video is coming with more info

Hows it pull still?
Well I just watched your latest video 2 18 21, to hell with bad commenters. Their square body doesn't have a Cummins in it.
I know

With all the kits out there now it should hopefully be way easier for that in a Suburan. Man I just love the fuel mileage in my little motor.
That's gotta be slow, cool though

with that 4bt you must be turning down at least 80 hp to the wheels!
Maybe. But it is fun as hell to drive!
SLOW & HIGH. Lol
