WHAT! DID THEY REALLY MAKE EXTENDED CAB SQUARE BODIES?

- Here we found an unusual old school Square body Chevy, that looks like it was turned into an ext. cab. Don't know who or how it was done. Maybe you can give me some insight.
Yes they exist. Built by conversion companies when new. Long bed single cab, 18” removed from front of bed and extended cab added. I own a 78’ extended cab.
I just saw one today and I had to do a triple take, I never knew they made them but of course it was through a conversion company. That's what brought me here, they're pretty cool and unique.
Just needs some good ol tlc
That truck looks amazing even in the condition it’s in!
well still waiting for some global warming, it's only been in the negative digits around here lately; going to pull that thing to the new place and dig into it and see what we got. Stay tuned and thanks for watching.
Do you have any updates on this truck? I have one myself I’m currently restoring.
@@leohernandez6273 if your talking about the one in the video. No.
Ok thx.
5.0 liter equals a 305, not a 350.
Thanks for noticing, I'm going blind in my old age.
The Blue Collar Preacher 5.7 is 350
@@Hc-rt6pe it dose look cool if you fixed it
Looks like whom of which chopped a Blazer cap and spliced/welded it to the cab together.
Just curious if you're not interested in the truck could you possibly send me the contact info for the owner as we may be interested in it to redo.
I sold the truck about 2 months after posting this video. All I can tell you it ended up in Missouri. Thanks for watching.
Western Hauler !!TX
I'm watching this video because I found one like this but in mint condition around my neighborhood. It is a c10 extended cab dually. That thing is sick! It has the 4 tires on the back and the full dually lights on it. It has a bit of a lift kit and the rear diff is huge. I WANT IT!
I've always hated on GM for not making extended cabs back in the square body , after going extended it's hard to go back to regular (that's what she says too) but I do know they made the 3+3 and railroad or camper specials with four (4) full size doors but I do believe someone butchered that to customize it but sure is neat idea
Yes it's a custom, GM still had the Suburbans which the other 2 didn't, International even made a Travelal. Also at least GM offered the crew Cabs at the dealer without special ordering. Thanks for watching.
@@TheBlueCollarPreacher yes I remember the international travelal ,I liked the old scouts also , as well as when AMC owned Jeep and made the j series pickup trucks , those things would go great in 4x4 with the quadratrac but they rusted out so damn fast , a true shame that AMC is not around these days but I guess our country has lost alot of it's pride these days and everyone wants Toyota or Nissan or Honda
It was a coach build built in Texas, made only for one year in 85, it was sold through the dealership throughout Texas
Is this thing still sitting out there?
Nice overland coach, no rare but not really common. Facebook has a group dedicated to them. I’ve always wanted one. Great find!!!
this is one of my dream squares and this guy has no clue what hes looking at lmao it pisses me off to see this truck rotting away
It's still available. And has been pulled out of the trash pile. I might end up with it for payment on work I have done on their house.
The Blue Collar Preacher I prefer single cab extended cab looks ugly
Is it still available?
@@TheBlueCollarPreacher its been 2 years . did you or somebody save this truck ?
@@867diesel I sold it to a guy in Missouri who is going to do an LS swap.
I saw a dark blue one running around my neck of the woods a few years ago. I thought it was homemade cause it was ran down too but after seeing this I guess they were custom.
That's a cool truck. Is this truck still available?
No it was sold. Thanks for watching,.
5.0 is a 305.
This needs saved asap
As soon as this global warming weather we have in WY gets warmer. I plan on doing some more vids and getting it running. I took it in on trade for work I performed on their house. Stay tuned, and thanks for watching.
That body style only came in regular & crew cabs back when they made them. The crew cabs were only offered on the 20 & 30 series & only had the 8ft fleetside beds. A fullsize Chevrolet extended cab pickup didn't come out until the body style changed in 1988 & 1987 was the last year for that style there in the video.
It was done by a conversion company. Thanks for watching.
@@TheBlueCollarPreacher question. So it was originally just a regular cab & then it was sent to a second party company to have it customized?
@@kevinrichards3288 Right, from other comments on here, they took a piece of the bed and added it to the cab. I did another video showing under neath it. when the new owner came and picked it up. He plans on fixing it up and doing an LS swap. I have way to many projects on my hand so I wanted it to go to someone with more time on their hands. I guess a few conversion companies made them from 85-87. Thanks again.
That's a 5.0L 305.
Yes we explain that in the next video; Thanks for watching.
Anybody else waiting for gunshots?
Hey I was just wondering if you would do a walk around and review on the black sheep now that you've put a bunch of miles on it and towed with it? Any changes you would like to make? Future upgrade plans?
Love the vids, keep up the good work!
Sure will, and thanks for watching. Stay tuned.
Rob sorry I haven't made that video yet been real busy, plus slammed my finger in the door of the Blacksheep "it bit me", and crushed it. hang tight and thanks.
@@TheBlueCollarPreacher Hey don't rush it, the truck must be in a bad mood anyways haha!
@@FasterRepair I will really love the information to get ahold of these people so I can purchase the truck
I really wish I owned one of these or the 4 door verison
I like it I wouldn't mind having this. Nice find
That is a rare truck and is worth 1500 in Texas as it sits.
I was told that it being a 4x4 it's even more rare, but what do I know. But I do know it's still for sale, it's been pulled out of the Pile of trash and been cleaned up since this video, maybe I should do another shot. Thanks for watching.
@@TheBlueCollarPreacher if it is still for sale please let me know how to get ahold of the owner because I am interested in buying it
No. No. No. And no. They did not make extended cab trucks from the factory.
Jeep made 1 for a concept, and extended cab J truck but the ceo said at that time No one wznts an extended cab, boy was that wrong.
I hardly ever see any Chevy & GMC trux with that body style out on the roads nowadays.
I remember the 4 doors too.
Yes we have an 82 GMC crew cab we will build in the future. Thanks for watching.
That's Not A Stock Factory Built Truck
That doesn't look like a dodge
I know but we are helping sell it for a cousin of mine.
@@TheBlueCollarPreacher where is it very intrested
Cheyenne, WY. We are pulling it out of the trash pile on 10/30/18 and cleaning it out getting it more ready. @Joseph Gordon
@@TheBlueCollarPreacher please give me a phone number or something because I'm interested in buying this truck
@@will485948 I am the new owner, I took it in on trade for some work I did on the owners house. my plan was to fix it up a little to get some of the money I lost on the repairs to their home. But here is my email. once I hear from you I will delete this post. pastorsinner@gmail.com
That's a cool find
Thanks for watching
Somebody save it,fix it right and body drop it
tell us where this truck is . so we can save it
Looks to me they cut the bed down too, an original short bed will have 2 stake pockets on the top of the bed and that one had 3. That truck was very poorly made!
omg please save that squarebody
They have pulled it out of the dump pile, the guy who owns it was going thru a divorce just after he got it, and it's been a battle. However it's still for sale, if you ever make it to Cheyenne, WY would be glad to sell it to you.
@@TheBlueCollarPreacher i sure hope somebody saves it
They sold them in Texas I think they were built by choo choo choo customs
V. mcinnley .....McKinney Tx specialized in extra cab conversations ....did a much better job....still see a few of his creations in Co
This truck was purchased in Denver, CO new. I don't know who the conversion was done by. Thanks for Watching.
The Blue Collar Preacher .... trucks kind of a rare find these days .... Be Well
@@mathewkorn5008 I have sold it new owner coming for it soon. Stay tuned, and thanks for watching.
The windows are worth 100 at least
See them in Mexico
That’s a lot of Bone
Is this still available
No it was sold. Thanks for watching.
The body GM PU weren't very good, they had hoods that bent and frames that cracked around the steering gearbox, and shock mounts that broke like a twig fexplates that broke, camshafts would go flat, and the earlier ones would burn oil,so in my mind they weren't all that good, but some people like them
GM really had the mechanic in mind when they built their vehicles. The small block chevy was and still is the easiest motor to rebuild, They got it right with the adjustable rocker arms, because cams do go flat, I remember back in the day they finally figured out what was causing the problem, the battery ground was causing a current in the area, and they eventually moved it and it went away. The HEI distributor and their built in regulator in the alternator was also some of the best things that ever happened. Also the the 4 bolt main blocks with forged cranks were some tough engines. I do like all the big three, they all have their good and bad points. Thanks for watching.
@@TheBlueCollarPreacher I read in motor service that the reason camshafts went flat was because of a design flaw and they went to a roller cam around 1987 and when a car came into the dealership under warranty with a flat cam they wouldn't fix the engine but replace it, and the article said gm they knew were going to have a new design, and that it would have cost millions of dollars to fix the problem with the old engine design, but they did update the original design by going to a one piece rear main oil seal and different style valve covers, and roller cam which pretty much took care of the flat cam problem I agree that the HEI setup with IGN coil and module in one unit is a great design, also my favorite carburetor is the quadrajet easily adjust fuel mixture so I'm not really that down on gm as it seems,I just didn't like the fact these square body's had more issues, that my 1965 c10 didn't have
@@justenough730 I think the Q- jet is my favorite as will I've seen a few on Dodge trucks.
