    Chris - love your channel, your work product and your reviews. I'm a longtime A7R2 and A7R3 user, but I recently picked up a new Leica Q2. You probably know that it has a super little 28mm 1.7 fixed lens on it, and I am loving it. I must say that I got my inspiration for shooting wide from you and your work with the G master 24mm, which I also own. But if you get a chance, I'd love to see how you might review the Q2 and what you would get out of it. Thanks for all content!

    Fantastic images, love that environmental style for newborn as an alternative to a baby portrait. I think that baby will absolutely love looking at those in 30, 40, 50 years time to show the context of the relationship with parents, the clothes, decor etc.

    Great photos! I much prefer warm natural photos like this than fake looking fashion style kid photos. And yes the Sigma 35 f1.2 is amazing. I usually love small light primes but for events and portrait shoots I would never leave my 35 f1.2 at home. Beautiful bokeh and very sharp wide open. Probably the best lens I have owned.

    Hey Chris, thanks so much for sharing your thoughts and insights. As always, it's very much appreciated! I'm in a pickle and was wondering if you could help. I'm on the hunt for a 35mm and I'm torn between the Sigma 1.2 and Sony Distagon 1.4. I know you've raved about the Sony 1.8 but if I'm looking for that extra bit of light/depth of field, but don't want to compromise on autofocus capabilities and overall image sharpness. Do you have any thoughts on the Sony Distagon 1.4 and if so, which would you choose between that and the Sigma? Thanks in advance for your help!

    I have used the Sigma 35mm f1.2 for all my weddings (11) this year and I'm not sure if I'll keep it. It's an amazing lens...beautiful bokeh, really fast, amazing AF paired with my Sony A7iii (I shoot almost always wide open), BUT it's toooo heavy. 90% of all my photos are taken with the 35mm, and after 12-16h of shooting with it I barely can move of back pain.
    I would love to see a new f1.4 from Sigma, like the new 85mm f1.4.

    Chris, I’m a day one follower. Love your work but this is NOT newborn photography, it’s lifestyle photography that features a newborn baby but real talk you don’t “do” the wrapping, etc. because you don’t have those skills. Have you even wrapped a baby bud? Do you know the amount of technical work that’s involved in capturing stunning newborn work!? It’s not just throwing a baby in a prop with a swaddle and snapping photos, it involves incredible on site practical effects with a lot of baby handling patience and lots of technical post production work.

    • @LtDeadeye
      @LtDeadeye 3 роки тому

      What are popular lenses for that sort of photography?

    • @ChrisTurnerPhotographer
      @ChrisTurnerPhotographer  3 роки тому +2

      Bro I have 4 kids I know how to wrap a baby haha. I'm pretty sure in the video I said I don't do it cause I don't like it and I'm not good at it, or something like that.
      It's new born photography in the way the couple asked me to come take photos of their newborn baby so I dunno what else you need. I think what you need to say is it's not classic newborn Anne Geddies type stuff. I have plenty of experience in studio photography, and I have shot that kind of new born work before. I don't think it was very good but like I said. That's not what I do and I don't pretend to be an expert in it, just personally I don't enjoy doing it and I wouldn't want those photos on my wall but that's just my personal preference. Just means my photographer friends get more referrals from me lol. But appreciate the support man

    • @TimothyGordon
      @TimothyGordon 3 роки тому

      @@ChrisTurnerPhotographer Bro, I’m not questioning your abilities. You’re AMAZING. I love you and your channel. And yes you did say you don’t like wraps and buckets. I respect that and I’m not trying to enforce a “traditional” form of newborn photography. All I’m saying is your “newborn” photos are as much as a “newborn” photo as they are an architectural photo or a product photo or photographic journalism.. isn’t there something unique about a “newborn” photo. I was genuinely disappointed when I saw my FAVOURITE UA-camr post a video of him doing a newborn photo shoot.
      Let’s have a laugh and see if you do know how to wrap a baby (this is not a swaddle, actual wrapping is a newborn photography practical effect). I’ll post a video on my channel of me wrapping a stand-in newborn baby. You do the same. Wrap a newborn or stand in newborn baby. You up for the challenge?

    • @ChrisTurnerPhotographer
      @ChrisTurnerPhotographer  3 роки тому

      Dude I'll fail I don't need a challenge to tell you that. If you do traditional new born photography thats what you do. Tell you what when I get home I'll change the thumbnail to newborn lifestyle photography lol how's that?
      And I'm not attacking you either. If you followed me from the start you know I mean well lol

    • @ChrisTurnerPhotographer
      @ChrisTurnerPhotographer  3 роки тому +1

      Let me ask you this. For a thought experiment... Do you classify yourself or post videos on your channel titled "traditional new born photography" or just "new born photography"
      Cause wedding photography used to be super old fashioned and posy but I don't class myself or post videos saying "modern wedding photography" if I get hired to take photos of a newborn baby what I'm doing is newborn photography. You just have a very different style, process and end result which is totally fine.

    Honestly I think the camera and lens did its job but my opinion you failed by doing your job which is controlling the light, composition also putting them in a position where the light is on the subject . Also not using the whole frame of the image. These are things that photographers are supposed to do which separate them from the average photo taker. Theirs a few goods shots but print worthy.

    • @ChrisTurnerPhotographer
      @ChrisTurnerPhotographer  3 роки тому +3

      I don't usually reply to trolls cause it's just an endless loop with no actual constructive criticism which is something I actually appreciate haha but here we go
      A: I didn't "Control the light", we firstly I'm not jesus so if you mean the sun there's not much I can do but besides the point which you haven't actually specified btw if you mean window light I like it how it is, it looks great. If you mean using a flash, I have studio strobes but I don't like the look of it for this kind of shoot.
      B: Controlling the composition? I composed the image to what I liked, and this is my style so I'm not sure what else there is to control.
      C: Putting them in a position where the light is on the subject... Did you not watch the video?
      D: I didn't use the whole frame.of the image? What do you even mean by that? Cropping? Cause I didn't crop anything. That doesn't even make sense.
      Besides all that, when I delivered the photos both of them actually cried because they loved them so much, so for me I achieved my goal which is delivering images that my clients love. If you think I failed I'm terribly sorry and I'd really love some guidance on how I can improve.
