    You are a very good instructor, I have watched most of your videos, I would buy almost everything in your shop if I could afford it. Alas I will have to settle for piece by piece. I cannot wait to try out my mold and doming tray. I think I will have to get the starter kit and dichro kit next!
    This has given me an idea for something I would like to try, I hope I can find time to make it happen!

  • @stefanieharbeson5664

    I just started working with resin a couple months ago, and have found your videos are the most helpful for great tips, tricks, and tutorials. Thank you for sharing! I ordered some supplies from your shop and love them, especially the doming tray; a world of possibilities has opened up! My only issue is the sleepless nights-you've allowed so much room for creativity that the ideas don't stop, haha. ;)
    One question: I ordered polyester resin prior to discovering your shop. Would these techniques translate easily to polyester resin?

    • @stefanieharbeson5664
      @stefanieharbeson5664 8 років тому

      +Fran Valera I tried it with the polyester resin, and it doesn't work for doming. The heat from the resin makes the paper curl, so all my pieces are warped. It's kind of a neat effect, but not what I was going for, haha. Live and learn! I bought some of the Little Windows resin and am remaking my pieces. Love your products! And I can't believe how fast shipping is. Thank you! I'm sure I'll be making purchases regularly. :)

    Hi I Love your work and instruction is very clear. I just have a question. I noticed you apply resin only to one side. Do you leave the other side without resin or you apply to the other side as well. Thank you

    • @LittleWindowsResin
      @LittleWindowsResin  7 років тому

      Hello Rezvan, sorry for the delayed response, you won't be able to do this technique with both sides domed because the pieces will be nice and pliable at about 12 hours, but if you then flip them and add resin to the back, then wait another 12 hours for that side to set up, the first side will then be too hard to shape. I hope that saves you time experimenting :) - Fran

    This looks really cool, and I'm wondering if it'll work with the kind of resin that I have. I know that after 24 hours thinner layers are bendable, but after 48 it's hard. I've never tried using it with the iridescent sheets in this video though. I do have one suggestion, that you put a link to where you can buy the supplies you use in your video description.

    Hi Fran can you please tell me if the resin measurement are always the same I am having a hard time with this resin it is clear cast 7050 I bought before I brought your every time it comes out sticky and it don't come out of the mole

    • @LittleWindowsResin
      @LittleWindowsResin  4 роки тому

      Hi Raquel, in case we didn't talk about this via email, since that's not our product you'll need to chat with the maker, but it may not be appropriate for use in projects like this. Every resin has a different chemistry and intended application, you may want to save that for another sort of project, or it may be beyond its shelflife. Mose epoxies have a 6month-1 year shelf life to perform as intended. Our Brilliant Resin is best used in about a year, but will be functional for 3-5 years if stored as directed on the labels. Let me know if I can be of help in any other way :) fran@little-windows.com

    How would you go about doming both sides?

    • @LittleWindowsResin
      @LittleWindowsResin  5 років тому

      Hello! It's much harder to do this with twisted pieces, because if the first side sets up before you dome the back, it won't be twistable. You could make 2 pieces, stick them back-2-back, then twist or shape them as you'd like, while the resin is still bendable. Hope that helps :)

  • @creativeplanetjanet
    @creativeplanetjanet 3 роки тому

    I'm trying to understand why one layer of film is not enough to support the resin. What happens if just one layer is used?
    Could the film be placed directly on a silicone mat instead of the doming tray for more support? Maybe use some double sided tape to make sure it stays put on the mat while doing the first pour? Then move to doming tray when it's time to pour the other side.
    Or is a certain thickness needed for a shaped substrate for some reason? Maybe so the resin doesn't run off the edge?

    • @LittleWindowsResin
      @LittleWindowsResin  3 роки тому +1

      Hello Creative Planet Janet! There are some different pieces in this tutorial, if you use Resin Color Film it can be domed on a single layer, but the Texture Film is just too floppy to support resin in a single layer, so you need to double it up. You can also use clear packing tape to give it more support instead of 2 layers of film.
      The purpose of the Doming Trays is to support your cut out pieces, while creating a clearly defined edge so the resin knows where to stop flowing. Brilliant Resin is perfect for jewelry and small decorations like these, the surface tension will keep it from flowing over the edge, as long as you have clear edges. If you try to dome anything on a flat surface the resin can't tell where to stop and will flow off and under your piece, not forming the nice rounded edges you get on the Doming Tray.
      If you have a look at this tutorial it'll make more sense: www.little-windows.com/blogs/project-center/embossed-dichro-ish-film-earrings

    Seems to me you could just use Saran wrap (or any other brand plastic wrap) instead of any tape.

    • @LittleWindowsResin
      @LittleWindowsResin  7 років тому

      Hello, thanks for your comment. You certainly could, but I've found these thin wraps leave wrinkle marks and dents, and they don't have quite the holding power that the Amazing Tape does. So if you don't mind these things you can certainly use what you have on hand, just be sure to wrap it around at least 3 times to give your shape a better chance of holding as it hardens. Have fun making :) - Fran
