Hello! Our Special Photo Papers are designed to cling tight to printer inks, and not absorb resin so your images stay clear and bright. You'll need to test any other papers to see how they'll react to being submerged in resin, and you can simulate that by placing a scrap in water for an hour or so. If it bleeds or absorbs the water, it'll look the same in resin, so you'll need to seal the front, back and edges with Mod Podge or another sealer, and be sure it's completely cured before resining or you'll risk a reaction. If it looks good after the water test then the paper should be OK to resin without sealing. I hope that helps :) www.little-windows.com/

Hello Alexis! Yes, I only put clear packing tape on one side. The Special Photo Papers I'm using are resin-proof, so they won't bleed or run, but the clear packing tape lets any trapped bubbles squish out the sides more easily as I push the photo down against the base. I wanted to now, can you inbed insects? In our garden we find sometimes butterfly's, i love them and for the moment i store them in clear containers. But i would love to inbed them, it is told i can't do it becourse the resin heats up and would burn the butterfly. I use them for drawing, i don't kill them, if someone would think that.
+Nancy Willaert Hello Nancy! Yes you can embed insects, as long as they are completely dried out (dead for a while, or dehydrated somehow). With butterflies it's tricky because the colors on their wings are actually thousands of tiny scales, if they are iridescent, this color can be dulled when you resin it, so you'll have to do a bit of experimenting. Let me know how they turn out :)
I made my first batch the other day. I thought I followed the directions well, but I ended up with tons and tons of micro-bubbles in my resin, even after stirring slowly, letting it sit 5 minutes, coming back to it ten minutes after pouring... none of the tiny ones surfaced to be able to pop them. What do you think I did wrong?

Hi Liz! Yes they are resin-ready. If you're using our Special Photo Papers by little-windows.com facing up in your molds you DO NOT have to seal them. In this particular video we only put slippery tape on the face-down side to help bubbles slip more easily around the edges, not so much to protect these wonderful papers. Have lots of fun creating :)

It depends on what you're putting in the layers - if you're adding something heavy in the second layer, or adding colorants and you want each layer crisp and distinct, you'll want to wait at least 6 hours before adding the second layer. If it's clear on clear, or you're adding light or no embedments, you can add another layer after about 2 hours. To make follow-me eyes you'll need to play with the layering, I've had some success by pouring a clear layer, letting that set up, then painting the iris first, adding another thin clear layer, then putting the pupil on that layer, so it's behind the iris, that helps, but takes some experimenting too. How do I use the cabochons to make "follow me" eyes?
Hi GothEmoBoy1, sorry your comment got screened out for some reason. To make follow-me eyes you'll need to play with the layering, I've had some success by pouring a clear layer, letting that set up, then painting the iris first, adding another thin clear layer, then putting the pupil on that layer, so it's behind the iris, that helps, but takes some experimenting too.
