DDP is no fool. He knew he had half of 33.3% of a chance of going a full round with Steiner. Seeing as there were 8 wrestlers that tried to separate them, He knew that those wrestlers were only collectively operated at 72.4% full strength, giving Steiner an extra 23 and 1/2 advantage minus DDP's guillotine which was only 57.3% applied....

DDP helped so many wrestlers get their life back on track, how can you not respect that? As a wrestler, to me he was ok, as a person, I got nothing but respect for him.
As a wrestler he was amazing too.
Even the WWE really regret how they used him and have retrospectively put him in the HoF and allowed him to be the face of The Best of WCW Nitro DVD series.

Atleast he was honest about the details. Most people would've been too scared to risk their ego with the truth. Lance Storm once talked about the details of the fight on his website and said he was one of the people that had to get Steiner off of DDP. And I've heard either from Storm's website or other shoots about DDP going into the fetal position. Kudos for being real, DDP

It's a good thing Steiner didn't injure his eye. That would have been bad, and definitely a cheap tactic in a backstage fight.

Coincidentally Nash was traveling with DDP at that time. When he saw that ddp’s face was bleeding near his eye, they both got out. Nash felt fight is one thing, but to try to take a guys eye out was too much.

DDP's softening the story up a bit. According to Lance Storm who was there to break it up, DDP got hammered into the ground and it took 7 of them to drag Scott off him. DDP sucker punched him, but didnt bank on how strong Steiner's roid rage was.
Yep. Johnny Ace was first on the scene. According to lance it’s also the only backstage fight where both guys give the same story.

Nash screamed "we'll be back when there are new owners" immediately following the brawl. Basically telling wcw they quit. It lasted one week before their lawyers got involved considering nash and ddp were tag champs. People were worried about them jumping to wwe

"Many viewers watching Nitro were left scratching their heads when Scott Steiner, infamous for his shoot comments, took a promo about Ric Flair setting up his next opponent for Sin, and turned it into a verbal attack on Diamond Dallas Page. Page and Kevin Nash, the WCW Tag Champions, were scheduled to face the Harris Brothers later in the show, but that match never came about, due to what happened backstage immediately following Steiner's promo.
When Steiner went behind the curtain, he and Page got into an altercation. Some say that DDP sucker-punched Steiner. A fight ensued between the two men, but it was quickly broken up by several other wrestlers. Steiner is said to have dominated the short brawl, leaving Page marked and bloody. Page left the arena soon afterwards, so the scheduled Tag Title match never took place.

Hmm......Last time DDP was asked this same question, he said NOTHING about "guillotine chokes," kicking Steiner or any of that stuff that would make him sound more like a fighter....I remember the punch, DDP getting driven down, people coming to break it up, the "get off me"-yell and Page almost losing his eye. And it was Nash who got Page out of there.
Steiner on the other hand has had this question asked multiple times and the story never changes....
Don't get me wrong, this doesn't lessen my opinion on either man. Just pointing this out that usually the guy who is lying or trying to come off looking better than what really happened, is the one who changes the story over time. Best example of this was the fight between Roddy Piper and Kevin Nash.

DDP did mention it exactly like this on the Whole F'n Show podcast and the video used to be on here. Kwee Wee said DDP didn't get any shots in but the way he spoke about DDP he sounded like a bitter woman to be fair. As for Piper/Nash, both lied and neither did a thing as confirmed by Flair and Bischoff.

The cool thing about ddp. Ddp never tried to hard to be a superstar. Because ddp just had that star power in him. He never needed a belt to be that guy. Just like sting…just like taker. The guys back then were just built different. Man I miss the late 90’s
DDP is, and always will b, my GOAT. Biggest badass, coolest dude, with hands down, the nastiest finishing move n wrestling history. Even Orton's RKO is a pussified, watered down version of the infamous "Diamond Cutter". Only finishing moves that even comes remotely close to it, to me, r Goldberg's "Spear", and Stone Cold's "Stunner", as far as brutality, and real world affliction goes. I happen to know, beyond doubt, that the Stunner will send anyone to the ER. I've yet to see it, or have the opportunity to use it, but I'd imagine the Diamond Cutter would send someone to the grave yard. So incredibly brutal, and practical. DDP is a legend, and will always b my wrasslin hero.👍💯

If u want to fight steiner back then DDP should've used a Metal Baseball bat..Catch steiner coming backstage when he gets to the top of the stairs swing it with everything he had and whack him straight across the shins...When he tumbles down the stairs, hit him in the lower spine, and then aim for his hip bones and beat them until their corn flakes, then work the knee caps themselves until their shattered...Steiner would've never worked the business again, he would've been in a wheel chair...DDP would've needed to flee the area and get a good lawyer to negotiate him a plea deal if they tried to track him across states...

I was in an actual fight- guy jumped me ( unexpectedly) i got him in a headlock- he had his finger in my mouth had me fish-hooked. SO I starfted digging at his eyes ! I was trying to pluck em out!!! Yupp ! AND i had fingernails at the time! I fuked that dude up. Lol. When we finally seperated- he didnt want anymore. EYEBALLS ( DONT) come out so easy. Lol
