I will forever respect DDP for how he's used his yoga business to help people like Jake Roberts. There really needs to be some kind of system or network for guys who were in the business and put so much of themselves into it but are struggling with their lives. Though I think more needs to be done about that, DDP really helped fill that role.

When Shane McMahon kayfabe bought WCW and it became clear that WCW wrestlers are invading WWF, fans thought that Hogan, Sting, Goldberg and others will appear soon on TV but it became clear that only WCW midcarders will appear. DDP and Booker T were the only stars and the reason why the Invasion PPV had at least a solid buyrate. It’s not like DDP came to WWE in 1998 and expected from Vince to give him everything, it was about saving the Invasion storyline from being a total failure right from the start. DDP was still main event level in 2001, And in the Invasion he and Booker T were the two only main event level guys. Why ruin one of them especially if you only have two?

WCW fans will complain about it but only a fool would push WCW's old 2nd tier acts on the same level as a Rock especially when they ripped WCW's young talent years earlier and they were ready to step to the plate.

I disagree. The goal is to make money and judging on the mega pop DDP got the moment he took off that mask, the people seen him as a star despite drinking the WWF propaganda. Now he didn't have to go over The Rock, just rubbing shoulders would've put DDP over huge. They would've made money with a Rock vs DDP feud.

@@blakkbaloon8092 I see that triggered you lol. This has nothing to do with AEW. I'm just saying the WWF at the time conditioned it's viewers that WCW is 2nd rate. Even till this day WCW is considered a joke because of all the WWE DVDs telling you how much it sucked when that just wasn't the case until those last 2 years. Either way the WWF won and rewrote history, that's just a fact. DDP however was still a huge star for them and they could've made money with him
