- Опубліковано 10 гру 2020
- I am taking a trip to buy another old dead car that will need a full revival. The Old Man and I will look to buy it; NikkiT and I will look to start it for the first time in at least 16 years. We will attempt to give this Old 1965 Merc Life from the Dead. She has been sitting for 16 years! Can she be resurrected? Is a Revival Possible? Will no fire halt the revival? Will she start for the First time in so many long years? All these questions answered on this episode of RevStoration.
What should be name the Car?

Love Love Love this one!! Just got to share this same experience on Thursday. I mentioned I'm an International Scout guy on a Puddin video. I just drug a 76 Scout II out of a field up in central Kansas. It's been sitting since 1995 or 1996. Got it home and immediately poured some Mystery oil down each cylinder, dropped the tank and cleaned it, cleaned out the fuel lines, replaced the fuel pump and swapped out carb since the original was rusted shut. Checked the rest of the vitals (oil, coolant) setup the 'hot wire' it as it didn't come with a key, but hooked up the remoter starter button and she came back to life! A little tuning on the carb and she sat there and idled on her own for the first time in ~25 years!! Looking forward to the progress on that ol Mercury, that engine sure sounds healthy!!
Sending peace and love from us to y'all, and please tell the Ol Man I said hey! - Darren in TX
I know the rush of hearing it run again after years of death.. It is a one of a kind rush that most will never know. Thanks for watching!
When NikkiT pulled in the driveway then started backing up, I thought she was leaving.
That would have been funny!! 😂
Brad, I thought it would end with a knot on my head.. it has been rather peaceful. 😃
@4:57 Anyone else shocked on how good he sang that Alan Jackson song ?
I sang Alan Jackson before he was cool and now even after he was cool. Thanks for the compliment..
Rev.Storation can sing @ skulledmonten all I can say move over Allen Jackson Rev.Storation can sing
I like Midnight in Montgomery myself Steve Miller did Mercury Blues it's a cool tune too
It's great to see old classics back to life.Keep God first
Amen Kevin
My dad bought a Mercury parklane in 65. Beautiful car.
Sweet rig..
Great find by you and your Dad.You have a blessed family.
Bill, I thank the Lord for that often. Thanks for watching!
@@RevStoration Dad was a mechanic all his life & miss him so.
''Mankind only gets one Father in this old world & 2 if a believer. The both of which'll be a waitin' for us in the next.''
That is awesome! Love the show..
Thank you Wayne!
This car you found is a great find. I love the square body look, love the blue patina look. Love that roll down back window. You need to check in those rear seats and see if the cars original builders sheet is there. I don't think it's going to take much to get this old girl running and driving down the road. Can't wait to see what you got planned for it, I am from Michigan. God bless!!!
Jason, I am going to check again and see if the builders sheet is still there... She is going to be a fun ride... Thanks for watching and God Bless.
Great video REV, enjoyed watching. Thanks for sharing
Thanks brother.
Good pick. Those old Merc's are a hard find up North here, since many are more rust than diamond's these days. The FE blocks were far better engines than many other's back then. Added plus is the front brakes are disc on these, as 65' was the 1st year to get that. Best wishes on the rest of your year. Have a great day you two.
My front brakes are still drum.. wish it was the disc brakes. Thanks for watching!
@@RevStoration That's kinda strange. Wonder if the front drums from your Montclair are similar to my Galaxie 500 from a year earlier. Gonna have to research that since mine need replaced, and they are a booger to find, or costly as all get out. Maybe Merc's kept the drum brakes for another year pulling from old stock.
@@murraykriner9425 Probably so.. brakes are my next adventure. Master cylinder is shot so I don't know how far I will have to go!
K.Mad,I just started watching wanted to say hellow from kentucky.I love old cars and it' great yall are bring them back and keeping God first.
K.Mad... Thanks for watching friend.
I have a 65 Mercury Montclair I had for 50 years bought it for my first car and still drive it to this day; it has a 352V8 Automatic PS PB tilt wheel
Mine has the tilt wheel, the breezeway glass, Power steering, but not power brakes.
Great seeing ya bringing them back to life
Carl. I think this one was only sleeping. Please it woke up pretty easy!
That turned right over and smooth like!
I believe the engine was rebuilt fairly soon before it sat up... started too easily... they rest of the rebuild is going to difficult.. I just know it.
Absolutely an imperil diehard! So obviously I'm in love with this ride!
That's the way we work the heat on the coach I drive.
Just cut it off, it a smart way.
Awesome video you two thanks for sharing with us
Thank you again for watching Tony! We have already had a good time with this one.
Magnificent! Well done with the good old rig! 👍👍👍
Thanks!
The Merc is totally cool.
Your kids hated it.
You're lucky to have such a great supportive Nikki T by your side
to help you fix up and clean up the old girl.
My daughter most certainly did not like it. I am lucky to have NikkiT being so supportive. Thanks again!
Great way to kick off the weekend!!
Thanks for watching them all brother!
@@RevStoration Yes Sir! I Love these videos. I was one of your first subscribers on your first videos. Been so great to see your channel grow! Pride man!🇺🇸🇺🇸
Nice old Merc. Keep up the good work 👍😀
Thanks Monty.
Good video y'all 👍
Thanks Hank... She is a big old boat!
Thank you. I have a 1965 Mercury Monterey. Love it.
This one has a great engine but no frame.
Gotta love those old Fords.
Thanks Johnny, I agree!
New subscriber from the UK here. Loving the family interaction, and your accent is sooooooo cute. Awesome car by the way. Can't wait to see her rolling along.
Ron, thanks for watching from all the way across the pond. Appreciate you!
And this is why I Love Fords
Yes sir! Thanks for watching!
Pastor I'm sending you some gloves
That is an excellent find.
Thanks Charles.
Rev you and Nikki T have the Midas touch. Sweet project car. Looking forward to the next video
Chuck, she has a long way to go.. new tires installed yesterday!
This is a awesome build can't wait until the next video for it. Cleaning the inside and outside. Drop the gas tank and get it cleaned out. New tires and driving down the road. I'm glad your channel popped up.
James, already has new tires.. ordering brake parts, I need to drop the tank and get it cleaned, but more to come soon!
Good checked oil! Wow what a good car!
Yep, I checked the oil quick... Didn't want to repeat my Puddin issue.
that valve looks like something my dad would have done
I love the valve so much, I have to leave it on the car. The generation that owned this car had the get it done attitude.. Thanks for watching!
Rev, that is a Autolite 4100 4 barrel carburetor, good carb, easy to rebuild, have been in a few of them over the years, nice project, the Breezeway back window is so cool in the summer!! Thanks and God bless my friend!!
Chris, I have rebuilt probably 150 of these 4100's. I have always called them the "shoebox carb!" Autolite simply took two 2100's and backed them into one another. Thanks for watching and God Bless.
These cars bring back memories worked on
Many of them.
That is one reason that I love working on and sharing these rigs on UA-cam, they bring back many stories.
I love the way you check them old cars out wish i was there with you god bless
Doug, the old ones only need a few things to keep running. A little gas, little fire, and decent timing... she will run.
Made my day love your videos take care my friends God Bless
Thank you! You too!
Good stuff, glad I found your channel.
I am glad too... Thanks for subbing and coming along on our crazy car adventures.
My grandma had one of those way back when!
I hope this one will run up and down the road before long.
Amazing engine wake up..! The dreadnought class Mercury's ready for re-deployement...Good catch..!
That engine is ready without a doubt!
No seatbelt? The Old Man put his on!
It was a bad choice on my end.
You guys will get it running no worries 😁😁
Thanks Mary!
You bought one with a sweet motor Rev Your good lady enjoys the cars too don't she
Look forward to seeing more work on the Mercury
Thanks for sharing Rev & NikkyT Cya ya soon ✌
Thank you for the compliment. We hopefully will enjoy this old girl. Thanks for watching.
That's a boat! Love them big ole beasts! Amazing it started that quick! Love you guys!
Jason, thank you very much. She is a big ole girl but she still wanted to run. Thanks for watching friend.
David Lindley...=national treasure..!
So true. buy a Mercury or two!
Tape a straight screwdriver to a broomstick. Insert thru trunk to lock tailpiece. Turn pop open trunk
I don't have a clear path to the latch... the back window comes down and it has a solid piece behind the seat.. That is what I was going to try but no luck. Thanks for watching bruce.
Holy Cow the engine wanted to run it's amazing how the engine wanted to run like that good thing you shut it down real quick or the engine would of stayed running Imagine that ;)
Sometimes, we have to stretch it out for the UA-cams... It would have been too easy. THanks for watching!
My dad had a Mercury the same year but it was a Commuter wagon. That car would go down the highway at 70 and it barely felt like you were moving...just smooth as silk! I’d love to have one or just a sedan like yours. You got a nice one!
Feel like riding on a living room couch.
Hey Rev and Nikki T. Great car, big Merc. That 390 started like it ran 5 minutes ago. Very nice. Great buy. Hope you are all well. Nice to see your children. The old man looks super happy. Excellent video. Talk to you soon. Big Al. God bless you and your family.
Hey Big Al, we are doing great. I am still waiting on the new fuel tank for Puddin... I have ordered it from two dealers and hopefully it will arrive soon. God Bless you and yours as well! Talk soon!
Thank you Big Al!
Well, I'm excited for you and can't wait to see it cleaned up and further videos on this car. Love the '61 thru '66 big Mercs. I first knew 'Mercury Blues' from a 1968 album cut by Steve Miller, but the song actually goes back to 1948 - K.C. Douglas recorded it as 'Mercury Boogie'
Dewey, sh is going to be a fun rig!
Good video on a great old car. I fast forwarded a bit here and there.
Thanks for the watching James!
Merry Christmas another ford to enjoy watching you and the Mrs enjoy gotta love mercury Montclair
Thank you Nathan!
You have a lot of projects Rev. We love it 💚
William. I just can pass up on rusty or rare gold.
Thank you for letting us be part of this new journey the back window of the car is what caught my eye can’t wait to see that go up and down
Thanks Leroy!
I love the fact the rear glass will roll down and it may have a form cruise control or over drive. Cool project and you have to love the chrome.
I do not believe that it has cruise control, but it does have a tilt steer wheel. Thanks for watching!
Cob-a -rator. I love it. Get him Mrs. Nikki :)
She loves correcting me and we have fun with it.. Thanks for watching!
Love it I'm 17 and eat up with old cars I just bought my dream car a 1956 Cadillac. What a find can't wait for more have a Mary christmas.
Gage, thank you very much for watching and commenting. Merry Christmas.
That’s awesome! Love it!
Thank you so much for watching, Jeff!
Very cool, I'm glad you got it started so easily! It hardly ever works out like that lol.
David, I am sure this old girl is going to fight me the rest of the way.
Awesome stuff Good to see the misses does the work.... ; ) lol cheers rev and nicky T
Thomas, she insist on helping and I am loving it. Thanks for watching!
Sounds fantastic 390s were great motors. Leave her original had one of these when I was Young fun car.
Roger, I always try to keep her as original as possible.
Love the channel, just found it. I love that car, it was way ahead of its time.
Thanks for coming along on this crazy car journey... I hope to bring this girl back to real life...
I love this car! Wow can’t wait till the next video! Keep at it Rev!
Thank you.. It should be too long.
@@RevStoration we don’t pronounce oil like Ouil down here either.
Nice buy guys congrations
my o my i can tell the lord is is with you because one of them tiny screws to hold the points in was supposed to fall through the engine in the grass never to be seen again holding up whole project , with a little work would be a cool going to church rig God bless
Robert, I always try to magnetize my screw drivers so they hold onto the screws better. It helps and it worked in this video.
I'd put power stearing fluid in see if hose leak and so you don't burn up the pump . really
love the car my Grandparents had one when I was a kid loved riding in the back going to church back window up and down was so cool think it was a 66.. Steve Miller did A good song You were singing it . check with a timing light might be a good idea. you going to name it , Mer-See would be a good one the way it turned fired up the 1st time can't wait for the next post I hit the bell for next one Wes here in Johnstown Pa.
Wes, I think when the car was taken off of the flatbed it was forcing the fluid from the pump and got air caught in the lines... I needed to turn the wheels to get the air out of the line... I added more fluid as well. Steve Miller did do a great job on that song and I think a blues guy did it before him. Thanks again.
Way to go both you good job !! God bless til next time..
Thank you! You too!
Rev :) remember do a 1956 Mercury Monte Clair 2 door family car was paint Gold Taffee Tan body, plus Butterscotch Beige Interior with 312 V8 2bbl hand choke carb, 3 Speed Automatic transmission and 355 Rear end gears with Power Steering plus Brakes 4 wheel drums !
I bet it was a sweet rig. Love it.
I was scared when he was taking it off that flat bed. Seemed like he didn’t know what he was doin? I love that back window set up!! Super cool!!
Jesse.. I probably wasn't his first rodeo but it most certainly wasn't his 10th either.. Still some learning ot do. Thanks for watching!
Good luck with your classic mercury . Very nice car. God bless you and your family ..
Thank you very much.
Alive that old 1966 Mercury Monte Clair car and be fast start car ever did yet Rev :)
She will move for sure. Thanks for watching!
I believe the term breeze way of I’m not mistaken was used because the back rear window rolls down
You are correct.. the back window has an electric motor that rolls down.
Delivered newspapers in one once. Heck of a good memory. Sat on the trunk.
This one will be THEE Best One Yet! This was my very 1st. car one of these old Mercury's mine was the 1966 model montery 4 door breeze way window only power option on that car! My late Grandpa Maynard bought it for me from my popp's neighbor in Summer of 1974! B4 The end of The Nixon white house when President Gerald R. Ford took over. Could not drive it on the road until April 6th. 1977 when i got my Drivers License Had the 390 2v motor.
Tony, I love the story.. I am sure this old rig has a story or two to tell and hopefully a few more to make. Thanks for watching!
@@RevStoration 10/4. you are so Blessed to have been given such a Great wife who is rite beside you in this project!
God bless y'all Iam so depressed an scared I have no family or friends thanks for every thing
Tommy... put your faith in the Lord and ask Him to work in you and through the situation... Take comfort in his plan.
I had a 59 Monterey in 1970 that I drove to school.
59 Merc is a great year too!
Dads always dressed so nice good lookin feller
Robert.. I am sure he will appreciate the comment.
Somehow you popped up in my feed. My first car back about 1973 was a 65 merc Monterey. A few years later I got another badly used one with a 3 on the tree an no muffler. That car had so much power you could baby it thru the gears and not be loud!. Great video and merry Christmas to you an your family.
So glad you found the channel, we love making content with these old rigs. I love hearing all of the stories about these rigs.. Thanks and Merry Christmas!
WOW!, yrs ago i bought a 429 out of a merc, and installed it in a 77 ford pu, that thing dun the same thing, after sittin fer yrs one turn and it fired right up!, You just have ta luv a FORD BIG BLOCK ENGINE!
Fun ride and the 429 was a sweet and powerful engine.
Awesome old car revival.. love seeing these amazing classic vehicles "come back to life", keep the content coming - Brad frm Vernon B.C Canada (oh and the Merc was born the same year as I was)
55 years young... Thanks for watching from north of the border.
Thank you! Rev. Happy New Year. Nice car. Good job. Stay safe. All the best. Johnny Montreal Canada
Happy new year!
@@RevStoration Take good care of your ol man and say hello to Nickity
Sounds great!
Surprised she run as good as she does...
It looks a lot like a Thunderbird, I like it! That roll down back window is really cool. This will be good content and I look forward to seeing what you both do with her.
Scott, she is going to take a lot of work, but it will be fun to work on her when time allows!
The back window on those cars roll down so you can cruise around and have the air go in and right out the back window have a "Breezeway" lol
HOpefully, I can get this one to working.
Woo-Hoo! VERY NICE!! What a car!
Lou, I am pleased that she ran like that. Surprised and pleased she ran.
@@RevStoration AND...she ran smoothly, considering sitting for that long. I was surprised at the lack of shellac in the carb!
I'd like to see her all cleaned up but, in original condition.
Way cool old mercury you just cant beat those old 390's cant wait to see more
More to come, thanks for watching!
@@RevStoration I love the channel you are very down to earth and really awesome channel thank you for saving another classic
The motor excites me....Big fan of the 390
She has already rattled a hole in the exhaust.. More work to do.
Hello Rev. Really enjoy your videos from Lake Seminole, south of Donalsonville, GA
Fished that water before.. Thanks for watching!
I would love to have that old merc to fix
She still has a decent engine for sure.
Nice video :)
Greetings from the UK
Thank you very much!
Rev you doing good on the Mercury sweet old girl bring her back to life she would be worth putting some paint on and investing a little in
Yep, the only thing that is going to hold this old girl back is the rusty frame... I investigating the repair.
Glad to be watchin
Thanks again!
Awesome ride
Cool old rig❤️
We agree!
I was so happy when she fired up that's a great car and worth fixing up, that Mercury emblem on the washer reservoir is so cool 😎 I think the last time I saw that was the last year I think for Mercury Marauders in 2004 and they came with a leather jacket that had it on the back. I really hope you go all out to fix her up, I remember my aunt had a Monterey and it had the same back window that went down. Can't wait for the next video
Robert, I thought the back glass was a show stopper.. Don't have too many like this on the road any more. Thanks for watching!
RevStoration those back windows added a touch of classiness to a already great car. I sure hope you try to fix her up
You got a good engine there man!
I hope so.. but she surprised me by firing off the second it got fire.. Impressed and pleased.
That human head is not a symbol of the Montclair trim but rather represents the Roman mythological figure Mercury. In the late 1960s the Mercury division discarded that mascot for Chaucey the Cougar "At the sign of the cat...Roar".
Glad to know it.. I think the point I was trying to make is that automobile makers do not take the time to class up cars like that anymore. Thanks for watching friend.
@@RevStoration Perhaps you can share the data plate on the door jamb...easy to decode online.
@@SpockvsMcCoy I decoded it tonight..
Good stuff!

Merc is close enough. Thanks for watching.
this almost made me go buy an old car. to old stay safe God Bless
Ray, I is fun they say... Go get you an old one.
That engine looks like it was recently painted. Good luck, cool car!
Rev, after decades if hearing dirty jokes, it's refreshing to hear clean ones!!!
I always wanted to ride in a Mercury Breezeway!!!!
Accents....I don't know about the south, up in NY, good grief, there are many accents. It's just a regional thing I guess.
The fella I purchased the car from said that it was recently rebuilt before the original owner passed away. It was not a very professional paint job, but hopefully it will run well. Thanks Howard!
New sub here. Wish me the best of luck on getting my 66 Tbird road worthy. Nice Merc. Sweet family
Thank you Bill. I love the tbirds as well.
Great job 👍👍🇨🇱
