Marie was “a little bit country” and Donny was “a little bit Rock & Roll”.
Lol, I wonder how many get the root of that statement.
I get the reference 😂😂
😂
And they were both a little bit corny.
I get it. It was a segment they did on their weekly variety tv show.
Another passing to note today; the legendary crooner Tony Bennett passed at age 96, just two weeks shy of 97. I know it’s Female Friday, and you’ve probably already have your three set for the day, but possibly you could play Tony Bennett tomorrow; his signature song was “I Left My Heart In San Francisco”. Check out live performance from Ed Sullivan show in 1964. Rest In Peace Tony Bennett.❤❤❤❤
I sent them a link today
I add my vote to the mix.
Such a loss, but what a run. Loved Tony Bennett growing up.
Yes...sad loss. Happy he made to 96 years though. Be great you guys, Jay and Amber, could do of Tony's fabulous tunes. 💐R.I.P. Tony B💐
Yes, indeed. Sadly, Harry Belafonte passed back in April without much notice. I sent them an email with a request for 'Jamaican Farewell', but it went unnoticed.
We love Marie. Ya know, she did this great duet with Dan Seals back in the 80's called "Meet Me In Montana". Definitely one to put on your list. 👍
I was trying to remember that. I was thinking "Wild Montana Skies" but that was a different duet.
It's alright.
Beat me to it
Yes, that’s an awesome song!
You mean England Dan 😆
The gentleman who introduces Marie and then speaks with her at the end is Bob Hope. Bob Hope was arguably the greatest entertainer of the 20th Century and the most recognized human on the planet.
He was great entertaining troops in WW 2 all the way to Desert Storm.
We all know who Bob hope was
And British!
HE even had a theme song!! Thanks for the Memories!
@@kevinreilly9482If you're 40 and over maybe ❓🤔😂
As many have said, the Donny and Marie Show was a terrific weekly variety show. They worked so hard, especially for their ages. They sang, danced, and acted. It was great entertainment, and always wholesome.
And then even skated during the opening number. :)
The Donnie and Marie Show was a big part of my childhood. I didn't realize at the time that they were only a few years older than me, just teenagers. They seemed so grown-up to me.
Marie has an interesting and at times tragic story. Worth checking out. You'll see what a strong person she is.❤
You may or may not recognize her from the Nutri System Commercials. Also she is the co founder of the Women and Children’s Miracle Network Telethon, which began way back when her mother Olive started home schooling her two eldest brothers Virl and Tom who are deaf, after doctors told George and Olive to leave them in an institution. At the height of Osmond mania , they started the Osmonds Foundation for the deaf and speech impaired, that branched into the Miracle Network
She also had a sitcom with Betty White.
I Don't know why I didn't know that. Thanks for that info!
Probably because it only lasted one season. If you missed it back in 1995-96 you probably never saw it. There are 18 episodes out there somewhere.
Thought it was weight watchers. I'll have to look that up 😊

Notice how modest Marie Osmond dressed yet could outshine any of the contemporary artists of today. I grew up around those times when they had great variety shows in the late 60s and early to mid 70s. What an innocent time for most kids.
Not only do we get Marie Osmond and her debut single but we also get comedy legend Bob Hope!
That man who introduced her was the very famous "Bob Hope".
She was just 13 years old when she first sang this! She and her brother could REALLY sing! Maybe not Donny as a kid, but he had a great singing voice as he matured.
Fact's
donny as a kid had many hit songs , puppy love , etc...
As a lil gay boy in the 70s I was obsessed with her. I got to meet her randomly in my school hallway which still doesn’t seem real. I had never met a star, let alone my fave. She was so sweet. I was star struck. She was visiting our music teacher who had played in their band in Vegas… still love her.
@@davidgoble4182 I know, but I never thought he had a great voice back then.
@@BillGraper most would say his voice got worse as he got older. thru out his teens he was constantly top of the charts. ,
Paper Roses was the very first record I ever bought with my own money. She has such an amazing voice
Anita Bryant did it first in 1960 at 20 years of age. I like Marie's version. But Anita had a classic style. Marie's follow-up was "In My Little Corner Of The World." And that was again a hit for Anita Bryant. Marie followed in the train of Anita.
My first record too, played it over and over again ❤
Can you believe that this was 50 years ago unbelievable I love Marie Osmond she still playing Vegas in concerts around the country
The man introducing Marie was also a legend “Bob Hope” he was a comedian and had a lot of variety specials and movies and he used to go with the USO to entertain the troops a lot!!
I was just going to say I bet Jay and Amber had no idea who Bob Hope was. He was Huge.
And he made a series of "Road" movies with crooner Bing Crosby when he was younger; might want to put them on the Movie Channel List.
Marie not only had an awesome singing voice, but as you saw in this clip, she also had comic timing.
Love this song but my favorite Marie song is "Meet me in Montana" with Dan Seals. Great duet.
Love that song.
Beautiful harmony in that song. Love it, too.
I saw Marie in concert a few months ago, she puts on a great show. She brought one of her nephews (he is a very talented) with her plus 2 male dancers. Her concert was in a small venue (an audience of about 1600). If she makes an appearance close to you go see her). She said she still performs because her children are grown and she liked to perform. She also said she only performs on weekends because she doesn’t want to be on the road constantly. I believe she will be 64 years old in September.
I believe it's October. The same day as her dad.
@@cindyerick2968 October 13
@seanjohnson6186 her birthday is October 13
You can't forget Jimmy Osmond. He was one of my favorites as kid. The youngest of the kids in the family.
the ''Long Haired Lover from Liverpool'' LOL really shows the family talent.
Was never really a fan of Jimmy's, but he did have the first gold record of the family!
I was going to mention Jimmy! Ended up being the financial genius for the family.
@@jdgolf499 One Bad Apple was certified gold in 1971
He also sang If Santa Were My Daddy. I used to have the 45😊
The incomparable Mr. Bob Hope there at the end.
The whole Osmond family are very talented.
I was at a convention in the 90's and Marie was the entertainment. We all just sat in chairs in this room and she came out and sang beautifully and shook hands. I was in the front, so I got to shake her hand. She's so nice to people.!!
Donny and Marie's had a great variety show. Try their duet Little Bit Country, Little Bit Rock and Roll.
FYI, Marie dated Andy Gibb for awhile so there are quite a few clips of him guesting on the Donny & Marie Show doing comedy skits & singing with Marie--my faves are Happy Man, Sometimes When We Touch, as well as Donny & Andy in the Boy Scout sketch. Andy also did some Bob Hope specials performing for army troops--excellent & funny!!
Her duet with Dan Seals called "Meet Me in Montana" is a must!! I love that song!
LeAnn Rimes was also young like that when she did Blue, and so was Tanya Tucker back in the Delta Dawn days, and they both had voices way beyond their years.
Her voice is so incredibly smooth, especially for a young teen.
At 62 Marie is still going strong!! Her Album Unexpected keeps going into the 20 on billboard 100..
She is amazing .. and a great performer !!
Morning Side of the Mountain was a huge hit for Donny and Marie as a Duo
I had Osmond dolls when I was a kid, and I think we had a little record case with them on it.
One of my sisters had a record case with Donny & Marie. We had their albums as well. I remember at the end of the B-side of one of their albums, they yell "Goodbye, everybody!" 😂
One of my favorite Marie Osmond songs is “Meet Me In Montana” duet with Dan Seals.
Also, Marie is very proadoption. While she was able to have her own children, she adopted two or three children. She had a man named Michael MacLean write a song called “From God’s Arms To My Arms To Yours.” Marie sang it at the end of the children’s miracle network telethon every year. It really has a special place in her heart! I would love to see y’all react to this song.
Also, my favorite color is purple because of Donny!
@LadyGator1983 she gave birth to 3 and adopted 5. My favorite color is purple also but not because of Donny. Although I am a huge fan of his since 1970.
@@donnasingh5326 Thank you for the accurate information. I love Marie! Have you ever seen the dolls she makes?
I remember dancing the foxtrot to this song. Funny to think that when I was a kid, I thought Donny & Marie were a couple, like Sonny & Cher and Captain & Tennille. Only a few years later did I find out they were siblings and I had my first idol crush. Another great voice in the Osmond family is Jimmy.
She is so fun, great sense of humor and a great laugh. I know that may sound odd to say about a singer but we all, already know she can sing. Like she said, she is an Osmond.
It’s hard to believe one family could have so much talent!
It happens from time to time. 50s rocker Jerry Lee Lewis, Country singer Mickey Gilley and Evangelist preacher Jimmy Swaggert were all cousins. All of them were extremely musically talented.
The Jacksons would like a word.😂
@@blackblake3658 Yes, the Jacksons and The Gibbs.
There were a lot of family bands in the 70"s. Who remembers the DeFrancos? Tony looked a lot like Donny.
@@cindyerick2968 I've never heard of the DeFrancos. I'll have to check them out.
I just listened. I remember the song Heartbeat, It's a Lovebeat.
Another talented family are the Wolfgramm family, better known as The Jets from the 80's. They had a few good hits.
I loved the Donny and Marie show and had their albums, and their looks were like seeing double. Great hair and teeth!
They were so emotive singers and dancers
The Donny and Marie show episodes are epic. They danced, sang and skated-
I hate to say that over time since they’d had their teeth “done” to look more Hollywood, they don’t the same anymore, still stunning family but those original smiles made us smile! 👀😁
@@thebibagirrrlshow7748 Yes...
Believe it or not, Marie Osmond was 14 when she recorded this.
Realised after watching that Bob Hope refers to her age after the song 😳
13 when she sang the studio version.
Apparently the youngest to either have a number 1 hit or Grammy nomination at that time.
So cool to see Marie as a child again. Today is the 50th Anniversary of her Paper Roses Album and she is still going strong.
Donny and Marie had a variety show. They had a song called I'm a lite bit country and I'm a little bit rock and roll lol
Donny and Marie had quite a few hits as a duo. My favorite was their version of Deep Purple.
Yes, my favorite song of theirs was...I'm leaving it all up to you.
@chrisoakley5830 yes, most people like that one and Morning Side of the Mountain. I have good memories of Deep Purple because my dad, who passed away a few years ago, used to like that song.
There are too many good Donny & Marie songs to just pick one
My favorite duet was “On the Shelf”
You mean like "Smoke on the Water"?
🤘😎🤣
Tony Bennett 96 passed to day. A great voice in music and even Frank Sinatra said so! " I left my Heart In San Francisco" RIP It's Been a long time since hearing this song. .Sweet song!
Marie Osmond has a wonderful voice!
Her duet with Dan Seals, Meet Me In Montana is a great one!
The theme song for the Donnie & Marie Show was the two of them singing. Marie's line was, "I'm a little bit country" and Donnie sang, "I'm a little bit rock n roll".
You need to check out her duets with Andy Gibb (younger brother of Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb aka the Bee Gees). Two musical families.
The show host is Bob Hope - who probably wrote the whole after-song interview. He was a legendary comedian who did a lot of USO tours with other stars of the day.
I remember as a little boy growing up and my parents would watch the "Donny and Marie show". Marie was my first ever crush back then. 🥰
I've always loved this song, I never realized she was so young when this came out!
As a little girl, I loved Donny and Marie. My favorite was their cover of Deep Purple.
I remember their tv show. I even had a Marie Osmond Barbie doll. I miss the old variety shows.
She is still hilarious. She naturally has a great sense of humor.
I loved this song when I was a kid. I listened to it over and over again.❤ You really need to watch Donny Osmond singing Close Every Door from Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
His version of that song gives me chills, amazing.
@@jerryday813 Me too, every time I hear it.
Tragically, Marie lost her 18 year old son to s*cide, after really intense cyberbullying about his sobriety.
Marie never pressed charges against the three bullies involved, because she figures that they knew awhat they did, and, will have to live with the knowledge.
Donny and Marie "leaving it up to you" is a banger
She has also been singing opera for the last 20 years or more and is phenomenal!
A lot of people don’t know but Marie’s real first name is Olive, the same name as her mother.
Finally! Yes! Knew you’d get to this. Enjoy!
She was only 13 when she released Paper Roses.
The cameo from Bob Hope was a definite plus!
You should hear her now! She has gotten into opera. Superb!!! You can get all of them when they sing “He ain’t heavy, he’s my brother.” There is a 50th anniversary video
Marie also trained her voice and she was on broadway in “The King and I “ and “The Sound Of Music “.
Man, she has not changed much after all of these decades! This is Marie's "little bit country" to Donnie's "little bit rock & roll" - a segment that they did on their weekly variety show.
I had a Donnie and Marie lunch box when I was in 2nd grade. It was my prized possession.
Long time Marie fan here. Just saw a new commercial with Marie Osmond. She has had some "work" done on her face. She doesn't look like the Marie Osmond I grew up with anymore. I barely recognized her.
All I can say is ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
For as long as I can remember, I have loved this song.
Yay! You finally found Marie! I've said before that I had "Barbie" style Donnie & Marie dolls as a kid. Loved the Donny & Marie Show. Maybe start with "A Little Bit Country, A Little Bit Rock & Roll" by the two of them (duet).
Just love that she’s casually dressed.. her voice and natural beauty is more than enough
Y’all need to see the Donny and Marie show from the 70’s. They also did a talk show together, had a Vegas show and Marie co-hosted The Talk 4 a season
You STILL need to check out Donny Osmond - Go away little girl!!
Love Donnie's version of that song.
Finally. Marie!!
Marie has had an incredible career starting with her appearance on The Andy Williams show with her brothers at age 3, I believe. She recorded Paper Roses at age 13 or 14, then she and Donny got their variety show when she was 15-16 years old. She toured with The Sound of Music much later and I was fortunate to meet her after the show. I also met her at a doll signing promoting her doll line. She’s performed in Branson Missouri and Las Vegas along with annual Christmas tours.
Great reaction 🙏. Her follow-up song ‘My little corner of the world’ and later sensuous hit ‘This is the way that I feel’ were great & worth checking out.
Donny & Marie duetted together on a string of hits in the 70s; such as ‘Morning side of the mountain’, ‘I’m leaving it all up to you’ and ‘Deep Purple’.
A very talented family ❤
I love My Little Corner Of The World. Her voice is so calming.
Loved that you both enjoyed hearing her sing! The Osmonds are wonderful =) Got a kick out of her joking around with Bob Hope at the end there, too! X)
She was only 13 when she recorded this. I was 8 and I had a big crush on her. You can bet she was the main reason I watched the Donny and Marie show that came on several years later. You've now hit them all except Jimmy, the youngest of the bunch, and he was the first one of them all to get a gold record at age 9! Before you check out Donny and Marie you might want to look up some of the Osmonds appearances on the Andy Williams show. He was the one that introduced them to the country. Alan, Wayne, Merril, and Jay appeared first and then over the years they added Donny, Marie, and finally little Jimmy. Then you can see how much older they all are on the Donny and Marie show. You'll love the banter between her and Donny on the show.
I love the calmness of the old shows.
I am about Marie's age. I remember hearing this song when she first sang it. I thought she was so beautiful.
Seeing the Osmonds does make me believe in Human Cloning! Marie had an amazing voice too. I want to recommend a duet Marie did with Dan Seals (the "England Dan" in the duet England Dan and John Ford Coley...and brother of Jim Seals of Seals and Crofts fame). The song is Meet Me In Montana a great country song from the 80s.
Takes me back to my childhood.
Just bought tickets for me and my sister to go to vegas and see Donny. Last time I seen him I was 10 aug. 18 77 the night Elvis died. So we decided ro fo see Donny.
I love Marie and the song Paper Roses. She was actually 13 when she first recorded the song
I used to LOVE watching the Donnie and Marie variety show, they played off each other so well. Really funny.
First! Y'all should check out her and Donnie's duet of "Morning Side of the Mountain"....
Maybe after checking out the Jackson 5. They've reacted to them once.
@@blackblake3658 They're probably more familiar with J5 music. Michael Jackson's beginnings are more storied, and more well known. But I was responding to the fact that this is a Marie Osmond video...
You have to see Donny & Marie together, I don't know if they had a hit song, but their TV show was a big hit. Certainly the best brother and sister duo ever. I'm sure there's lot of clips from the show.
The Carpenters,duh
@@user-iw2dl1ko3w That's true, forgot about them, I was just thinking about as entertainers. The Carpenters were musicians but Karen was what it was all about, and I know Richard was the genius but the focus on stage was always Karen. But yeah, The Carpenters were much bigger.
I was in jr high when they had their TV show. I never missed it.
@user-iw2dl1ko3w the Carpenters were good, but Donny & Marie were great. So great that after years of not performing together they decided to do a 6 week run in Vegas and it was so popular that those 6 weeks turned into 11 years and it was voted best show 3 years in a row!
Saw her in the Sohnd of Music in the 90's. She nailed it. She's 63 now and still looks the same. Even after 8 kids.
LOL! My older brother had the biggest crush on her! You guys need to check out her duet with Donny, “That’s Why I’m Leaving It All Up to You”. Very nice.
You have to check out the Osmond Christmas specials!! They are so deliciously wholesome and cheesey in a fabulous way!! I looked forward to watching them every Christmas. When you watch the specials, you see how enormous the family was as they all got married and started having their own families.
Loved this reaction. You all always put a smile on my face.
Everyone wanted a beautiful Osmond smile.
Absolutely 💯 Donny & Marie ONE face ❤ I'm a Gen X Woman & I was VERY YOUNG 3yrs Old & I LOVED Donny Osmond!! Loved the Donny & Marie Show even BETTER!! You should find it, but more specifically the segment of "I'm a little bit Country & I'm a little bit Rock & Roll . . . It's Awesome!! Your's Very Truly Gen X Woman Mom and Wife. Yup Jimmy was the youngest, they were ALL in the Show @ one time or another, Very Young ages
Next one you should do is a duet with Dan Seals (aka England Dan of England Dan and John Ford Coley) Meet me in Montana. You might want to try Dan Seals by himself, he has a number of country hits. Of Marie alone try Everybody's crazy bout my baby; Like a hurricane; or There's no stopping your heart.
Marie sure has an amazing voice! So much talent in one big family. ❤
Loved Marie back in the day! She & Donny ended up doing a lot of singing together, but she had the chops to do it all on her own. And she grew up to be such a Cutie. 😊
Hi guys. Marie is the youngest to debut at #1. When this song came out in 1973, she was 14. This song went to #1 on the Country charts.
That song brings back such beautiful memories! The Osmond’s, was the first concert I went too… thanks for sharing 🙂❤
Osmonds
You should check out the movie Side by Side the story of the Osmonds. Marie plays her mother Olive. Just to add maybe do it on film Friday October 13th that's her birthday.
Another YAAAY day!!! Definitely check out her duet with Dan Seals (of England Dan and John Ford Coley) called "Meet Me In Montana" from 1985!
Marie is great on "Meet Me In Montana"; that was one of my aunt's FAVORITE songs before she passed.
Ah .... the Osmonds were always regarded as do uncool and corny in my day. It's only as I grew older that I realised they were actually a slick act . ... they had guts to stick out the criticism and carry on ... they seem a lovely family❤
70’s were so interesting. On one hand it was very edgy but at same time The Waltons were a top 10 wholesome tv show.
Same with Barry Manilow! Me and my heavy-metal-loving peers back in the day used to diss Barry constantly until a couple of them got dragged to one of his shows by their parents. They may have walked in as haters but they walked out as fans! Even David Grohl's mind was totally blown by Barry's showmanship.
Who remembers the Donnie and Marie show on TV?
Watched it every week.
I remember The *Donny* & Marie Show.
A gorgeous duet with Dan Seals is Meet Me In Montana! Which is one of my favorite songs ever!! It’s gorgeous!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I was lucky enough to see Donny and Marie in Las Vegas a few years ago and it was fantastic. When Marie sang this song she was wearing a huge beautiful skirt that was made out of paper roses. Gorgeous!
Marie is just as talented as her brothers. Please don't forget to react to Jimmy Osmond, he sings too.
I think I remember Jimmy singing Penny Lane on the show Fame.
Next one you 'gotta' do is Dan Seals and Marie Osmond - "Meet Me In Montana". Such a great song!
My ⚽️ football team in Scotland, Kilmarnock FC, have adopted this song as our club anthem. Marie even came to visit the club about 10 years ago whilst on a UK tour and performed the song.
KTID 🐿
Oh what a great clip! I hadn't seen Maria that young before, just heard the song, and then there's the legend, Bob Hope!!
