Fudge is so tasty!
If you also want to make this, I used the recipe below:
Fudge:
Ingredients:
1 can condensed milk (385g)
400g castor sugar
25 ml golden syrup
75 ml water
60g butter
1 tsp vanilla essence
pinch of salt
Directions:'
In a large pot over low heat add in the water and sugar and keep stirring until the sugar dissolves.
Add in the butter and syrup.
Mix until the butter melts.
Add in the condensed milk and mix (for a very long time) until the temperature is between 112-118 degrees celsius on a candy thermometer. If you don't have a candy thermometer, drop a litte of the mixture into a glass of cold water and a soft ball of syrup should form, this is called the soft ball stage. If a ball has not formed, cook for a while longer and test again.
Remove from the heat and place into a sink filled about half way with cold water and mix until the mixture a thick. crystallization should occur.
Spoon mixture into a lined baking tin, cut indentations into the frudge.
Allow to cool completely, cut into squares.
Énjoy some Traditional South African Fudge !
Finally someone who knows how to make actual south african fudge!!!!!!
What is it specifically that makes this South African? It looks very similar to many other recipes.
@@sanaullah6911 +There are different recipes. This is just one of them. Mine is different (much easier without all that stirring). But you are right. It is the same as many other recipes I've seen from other countries.
how is it special? I can not detect any difference to the recipes I came across elsewhere . . .
It’s all in the texture, melts in your mouth!

Perfect! No chocolate or fridge in sight 👏👏👏
This is awesome. I'm an American who's doing a "bakes around the world" plate for people for Christmas because I'm fckn broke this year, and I was having trouble finding an African recipe that used ingredients my boring American family would like (and that I could actually find)! Thanks, Anya!
Happy holidays!
I followed this step by step and watched the video a few times while making this, brings back my childhood memories, thank Anya
My pleasure 😊
Tried the recipe with some changes. I reduced the sugar to 300gram, added a splash of vanilla extract and 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Flavour is good but still super sweet for my liking. Thanks for sharing anyway.
Wonderful!
Thank you so much for your video! My parents moved from SA to the States over 20 years ago and have been missing SA fudge like they used to have. They love your recipe - so it must be the real thing! Thank you from this South African - American :)
You are so welcome!
Just Anva can you tell me what is golden syrup there
Yippee! I have been waiting for this recipe for a longtime
Thank youxxxxxxx
Hope you like it!
Amazing recipe! Made it a number of times, and comes out PERFECT every time!! Thank you!
Amazing! thank you so much for watching and supporting the channel.
@JustAnya …. Hello from Louisiana!!! I tried this and it was SUPERB!! It is truly like the honey fudge they sell in Cape Town South Africa! Do you know what packs of the honey fudge I’m speaking of? They sell them in lil rectangle packs at nearly all the stores. I’ve been trying to get a recipe and figure out how you guys have it to where it melts in your mouth, the texture is very unique. Here in the USA there’s none like it! It was a huge hit, my daughter-in-law is from Cape Town and she said it’s exactly like it but only better! The best ever! Is this a family recipe?
I followed your video and recipe 100% and I just made perfect fudge for the 1st time ever!!!! Thank you thank you thank you 🙌🏽🙏🏼🌻
You are so welcome!
Awehz South African 👌✌✊❤
Made this today and it turned out amazing! At first I thought I did something wrong because my butter had split and it had a toffee consistency when I dropped it in the water.. but I kept stirring anyway and it turned out perfect 💕
Wonderful!
Did u use sweetened condensed milk or plain condensed milk?
@@princessbubblegum814 I used sweetened condensed milk
@@erinjade7593 thank you so much 😊
I have exactly the same recipe but in stead of mixing so much with the hand you can whisk it towards the end with an electric hand mixer, so much quicker and easier. I always get compliments for the fudge and I belief this is the best recipe
Great tip!
BRAVO ANYA
I made this last night. What a rock solid recipe. Easy to make and tastes delicious
Glad you liked it!!
I love your videos its so nice to look and bake thank you
Glad you like them!
Wow so yummy and rich
just tried this recipe and I love it.. I used a hand held mixer at the end rather than my own muscle power and it seemed to work just fine.. it was more difficult transferring the mix onto the sheet pan and spreading.. regardless once done and we tasted it wow not the sugar shock one would expect but smooth light and creamy .... mmm fudge mmm!
Wonderful!
Can't wait to make this for the holidays! Thank you So much, I've been looking for this, my grandma used to make it.❤🙏👍
You are so welcome!

loved making this x
That was so good
Awesome video ❤❤❤
Thank you 🤗
This is the recipe I have been making for over 50 yrs ... recipe from a pkt of Stork (used instead of Butter). I wait a bit at the end for mix to cool a bit before that final beating so it does not take so long.
Thanks for sharing
So it's butter, sugar, syrup, condensmilk, vanilla extract
Wow
There is no fudge better than this, thank you...
I've been looking every and the only one I see is the chewy one but I will try this one I hope is crunchy😭😍
Delish
I just made this, came out lovely :)
Wonderful!
Is that sweetened condensed milk you added? Thanks looks like great fudge!
Yes 😊
Hello, whats a golden syrup substitute? How necessary is it for the final product?
you can use karo syrups in its place.
Is this toffy type soft fudge or krummel dissolve in your mouth hard fudge?
this recipe is the krummel hard fudge, I do have a soft chocolate fudge, if you are looking for a soft fudge recipe:

If u do not have golden syrup what can you use?
Delicious! For how long aproximately should I mix on the cool water?
until the mixture has crystallized, perhaps 10-20 minutes.
Is condensed milk a necessity can it be substituted as I don't like the yaste of it. Can you use milk instead?
I have always only used condensed milk, so don't know if milk would work, it you want an easy fudge recipe, check out my funfetti fudge or chocolate fudge, they don't have condensed milk in them.

@@JustAnya22 thanks will try it.
Since this has no chocolate like our USA traditional fudge, what is the flavor?? It reminds me of caramel. Looks yummy😂
Thankyou! Yum. PS I love the tiny little owl. Take care dear.🇸🇩 Is this your flag?🐸🦉😍😷🙏🍮
@@Ps114REXIVD Ok. Thank you kindly! I've been trying to learn as I go but there are so many and some are very similar. Take care and be safe!🙏✌️😷🇺🇸
Do you have a chocolate fudge recipe?

Lyk heerlike sus❤
Can anyone please tell me, what is the golden syrup is or what other names it is called as, do that it can be purchased online.
Dit lyk heerlik Anya 💞
Work good the first time but the second time it turned into toffee, what did i do wrong?
What is the golden syrup.? Can I use honey or maple syrup or what?
you can use honey as a substitute for the golden syrup. hope you like it.
Gonna give it a much different taste and make it much more expensive, but honey will work.
Can I use brown sugar instead of castor sugar for this recipe ?
Yes you can
How do I fix it because mine has a toffee texture....
To soften hard fudge, warm up the fudge in a pan, adding in 1 cup of water, and recook and re-beat your fudge. Take care to heat it to no more than the soft-ball temperature. When beating the fudge, stop beating as soon as your fudge becomes difficult to stir. hope this helps, let me know.
@@JustAnya22 thank you so so much. Will definitely do as you say.
Golden Syrup isn't available where I live. Can I uae light Corn Syrup ibstead?
Use Honey or Maple Syrup
How many g of condensed milk??
can i use an electrical mixer ?
How big is your tray
can someone put this in US measurements and ingredient names please?
Can I use ordinary sugar or does it have go be castor
you can use ordinary sugar.
Seems delicious but, should have been cut after getting cooled.
Do i need to add the syrup?
Yes add in the syrup with the butter. hope you enjoy!

@@JustAnya22 i mean do i really need too lol
ohhh, and yes. this fudge tastes really good.
My toffee always turns out too sticky I don't know what I'm doing wrong
Iv had this happen to me once before, I ended up with a sticky mess even after hours in the fridge, I found the reason for my fudge being to sticky was because I did not cook it long enough and it did not reach the soft ball stage which is very important when making fudge. Now when I make fudge I always do the soft ball test, Have a glass of cold water on the counter and drop some of the fudge mixture in, if it hold it shape yet is still mendable then you will have the perfect fudge. hope you try to make it again, all the best !
Oh, man! With torn rotator cuffs, this much stirring would kill me. I'd have to pay someone to make. Or, promise lots of fudge. :)
What can one use to substitute the syrup
Honey will work
If I don't have condense milk can I use fresh milk?
What is golden syrup
British people know this. I am guessing that you’re American. You can use corn syrup or even honey.
Or maple syrup
You can find Lyle’s in most American supermarkets. Amazon as well.
@@tedwilliams7021 I was raised on Lyles golden syrup, used to put it on my porridge, yummmmmm, Blackburn England lol
What happened to you this is 3 years ago
Thank you for watching, hope you enjoyed the video! I try to upload once a week, check out the latest video, Halloween web cookies. will upload soon again. thank you
Cud I use maple syrup.
I used maple syrup and it turned out great 🤗
I have no syrup 😭
Is it weird that I can smell it?😂
AHH yes a fello South African
don't you mean a can of "Sweetened Condensed Milk?" as that looked a lot thicker than regular condensed milk.

Looks like slabs of really high quality brown 👀
+
Looks cristallised... Not smooth.
But I could be wrong. It's to much sugar for me. Don't want to be a fat ass. Do like the lavalike bubbling. Looks so cute. Anyways.. Sugar is poison. 😏☠️
hate to tell some if you that are so excited about this "S. African" fudge that is is no different than any other fudge...fudge is made like this anyway you look at it..
Not really, the fudge made in the US doesn't need as much stirring and usually involves chocolate, and the UK versions don't use syrup for example, but do follow the same methodology. Other recipes also show using liquid glucose, or corn syrup. If you do a simple fudge search on youtube, you'll get countless recipes for making fudge, while the base method remains the same: melt sugar, add other stuff, agitate the heck out of it.
This is the real thing believe me!
What's South African about this fudge? 🤔
