project zomboid multiplayer could potentially become the walking dead multiplayer, literally, people will join groups, build societies, fight each other etc. The zombies won't be the main focus now, instead, we'll have other people to worry about
The organic thing about Zomboid is how well new and veteran players will be able to get along with each other. A complete noob is still useful to a veteran. Hell, sit at base and cook for all I care, that's worth it in this game.
The first minutes of a large survival server opening would be absolute chaos, I'm betting people will either stay in populated areas for a bit longer to get better loot or just grab some food and book it, nevertheless a situation like that sounds like it would be a blast
What I'm most excited for is the PvP; No, not because I wanna be toxic and shoot everyone I see on sight, but because of how cool the combat would be. On top of what you mentioned in the video... Do you see how fighting or evading zombies is? By itself, it's super complex. Then add in the factors of other players. Hand-to-hand combat would seem much like an IRL murderous dispute, People will hold each other at gunpoint afraid to start the fight and thus get severely injured before more unwanted attention arrives, and in fights involving at least one loaded gun will have people frantically moving around the place and taking cover trying not to get shot or caught by the zombies that might've heard the fight.
one of my favorite experiences with project zomboid was when i first placed in multiplayer, we had no concept of stealth and back then it was really tricky so to loot a warehouse one of us yelled and attracted all the zombies while i ran in to grab as much as i can we made a safehouse for him to run to and lose the zombies and i managed to get in but at the end of the day we both died from it, it was so much fun though and the possibilities that having 1-2 more people around is insane. it feels like the game was always balanced with the idea of multiplayer coop
Kinda curious what makes multiplayer so unplayable these days? I played MP years ago with some people, but everyone's saying it hasn't been in the game in a long time.
My understanding is that there's performance issues. The servers can't run in a stable state once you surpass a pretty low amount of players in different areas. You have to keep in mind that if 5 people are in 5 locations, the server is having to handle all of the zombies, textures, loot, for those 5 people and not just the 1 you'd have in single player. Build 41 has overhauled a lot of stuff, and made them look better, but this has a tax on performance they're still figuring out.

Zomboid would be the absolute perfect game for PVP because of the threat of the world. The problem with Rust and DayZ is that they are essentially battle royale/arena games. You strip down all the mechanics and you still have a game where you kill on sight just like CounterStrike. The only interaction between other players is shooting them. Zomboid, on the other hand, would really force choices in how you approach conflict and other players. You may want to shoot and loot another player, but that shot will call a horde and maybe you won't have enough time to loot or be able to escape. You could try to engage in melee combat but that's a lot more dangerous than shooting them; and even if you win, they might get a few good swings on you and you'll have to tend to those wounds which could get you killed if you have to get into another fight. It might actually force cooperation and trade because combat is so punishing and at the end of the day your goal is survival and your mutual enemy is the world. The zombies can also be a tool for PVP. Maybe you help a player out of a rough spot and they feel indebted and will help you or give you some food. Maybe you let the zombies finish the job and try to clean up and loot the player they just killed. Maybe you throw noise makers into a building to force a player out into the open. Maybe you bring a horde to a group's base with a loud car. Maybe you befriend someone who got infected from a scratch and hours later they turn into a zombie inside your base. Every single scratch from a zombie would have other players on edge that their friend might be infected, they might hide their symptoms from you so you don't leave or kill them. Scarcity makes every resource valuable and interesting. It might get to the point that you'd bash someone's head in just for a simple can opener. That herbalist with good foraging skills is more valuable to you alive than dead; but treat them well or they might tell you a poisonous berry is safe to eat.
Will be some great PvP, but it's certainly not really designed for it. I know personally I'll be sticking with PvE, potentially PvE with PvP areas when it comes to high loot zones.

I long for Zomboid multiplayer but I fear it'll have something like 70% people that'll kill you on sight and take your stuff and / or actively hunt you. I want multiple communities working together and establishing trade with each other for mutual survival as well as class-based specializations. A carpenter carpents, so to say. I think that leads to the most fun as opposed to everyone doing everything. Picture this: The Lumberjack is gathering wood for the Carpenter to build something with. @@MrAtomicDuck yep after posting my original comment i did see that anyone outside the dev team has basically no clue... but the developer notes are definetly hype-inducing... the previous build was always an issue for me in multiplayer for me because the zombies would be badly affected by lag and would become too easy to dispatch... and build 41 promises to fix that by making zombies affected by lag only the ones off-screen along with other fixes? thats absolutely bonkers.
It did exist before November. Its still accessible on the standard build. It's a bonus we've even been given access to the beta branch before multiplayer comes back. Have some patience.
I haven’t been able to run Build 41 because I get weird texture glitches and frame drops.. the vehicle build is pretty fun.. wish I didn’t have a potato rig

yes project zomboid mechanics is better for pve but i will play on pvp servers when the multiplayer come because i want some action i want to live that adrenaline feeling and stealing is much easier
They could always incorporate the thing that minecraft does where all the players must be resting for the time to skip, thing is idk how that will work with people waiting to skip the night whilst the zombies loom in the darkness.
Having a veteran help a noob in game would be a god send. This game is so much more fun when you know what you’re doing, and even more fun when you’re being taught. Edit: Project Zomboid MMO would be nice.
It's not that they removed it, the experimental build (One you have to opt in for, but is much better) isn't stable enough for multiplayer. They're basically resolving some issues to make it work.
Eh.. I don't think that PvP would help this game. Servers that allow it would be like a PvP Rust server. Toxic, and filled to the brim with people who just go "Oh look, a player", and then shoot them dead with some guns they found in a stash somewhere. Project Zomboid has pretty much always been less about player conflict, and more about surviving long-term in a hostile world. A multiplayer game like that would not work for me because I am a smoker irl and like to play games I can pause..
Thanks for the reply anyways..
It’s basically gonna be a more better stabler version of dayz but just 20x better especially with a voice chat would be even scarier
Honestly, I feel like comparing any zombie game to DayZ is an insult to the other game. DayZ is a progession-less deathmatch that you get bored of after a couple of weeks.
@@MrAtomicDuck completely right I’m just making that comparison based on the fact more people have heard of dayz rather then this gem of a game
is there any good estimation time for when multiplayer will come to build 41?
Nope, complete speculation. Anyone that tells you otherwise is guessing.
@@MrAtomicDuck
yep after posting my original comment i did see that anyone outside the dev team has basically no clue... but the developer notes are definetly hype-inducing...
the previous build was always an issue for me in multiplayer for me because the zombies would be badly affected by lag and would become too easy to dispatch... and build 41 promises to fix that by making zombies affected by lag only the ones off-screen along with other fixes? thats absolutely bonkers.
when will multiplayer release
No confirmed date at the moment!
I am gonna throw my social life away when it comes
You and me both!
When will multiplayer be available?
Nobody really knows at the moment, but we're getting close. Best thing I can suggest is to go to their website and follow the updates they give :)
how multiplayer still doesn't exist ...
It did exist before November. Its still accessible on the standard build. It's a bonus we've even been given access to the beta branch before multiplayer comes back. Have some patience.
@@MrAtomicDuck Okay I will wait, thx ;)
Cant wait to grief I mean play with duck
You little goose
Cant wait for blind guy deaf guy duos
Btw i just bought the game. Joined a MP server and having a blast with the other 15 players inside the server. Turns out im not playing the build 41 😂
Haha, lots of people doing the same, dw!
Multiplayer gonna be a mess when I grab them match’s and gas and set the world on fire. And set a flame in people’s hearts
I haven’t been able to run Build 41 because I get weird texture glitches and frame drops.. the vehicle build is pretty fun.. wish I didn’t have a potato rig
Sorry to hear that!
when the mutiplayer come out????
Nobody knows for sure.
So there's no multiplayer in the new update?
Negative. Go and have a read of their news blogs on their website, they did one on Multiplayer not too long ago which will stop you waiting on the edge of your seat for a while.
@@MrAtomicDuck That's good to hear.
yes project zomboid mechanics is better for pve but i will play on pvp servers when the multiplayer come because i want some action i want to live that adrenaline feeling and stealing is much easier
I dont even care for a full blown MP mode. I would be more interested in a co op pve mode.
I think most people are in the same boat!
when is it supposed to hit?
Unknown at this time.
What would you do if one of your pals has been walking around all day in just their pants on a cold day. Would you sleep in the same house?
Bros cuddle
So, there is now even an aprox date when is going to be available the multiplayer version of the Build 41?
No approximate ETA.
@@MrAtomicDuck What is ETA?
Estimated time of arrival
when will the build 41 multiplayer come out?
Nobody knows yet.
I think rp on pz is going to blow up
hi , an idea for the date ?
None at this time.
I wonder how sleeping will work out
If I remember correctly, in multiplayer this is usually turned off.
Hopefully it gets released before 2022
Fingers crossed! Sooner the better
Little late but does anyone know if multiplayer will have mods? I feel like my friends will get bored if it's basic game.
eny one have eny idea how to find each other when playing with friends?
everytime i play the game crash any idea how to fix it?
2032 if we are lucky 🍀 🙏
I just want to sneak in muiltiplayer
Switch to Build 41! Give it a google.
Wait what? Did they remove multiplayer?
It's not that they removed it, the experimental build (One you have to opt in for, but is much better) isn't stable enough for multiplayer. They're basically resolving some issues to make it work.
Play it on steam deck
I would actually love to do this
DUUUCCCCKKKAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYY
REEEGGGGGAAYYYYYYYY
Sounds like it's been delayed again 😕
Sadly so, but lots of cool things coming up. Video coming tomorrow (hopefully) talk about it :)
blippi
does this game ever go on sale?
Yep! They very recently were on Humble Bundle for £9.99.
@@MrAtomicDuck will it ever go on sale again on steam?
@@04.01k sale for it on steam right now
@@bazzergazzer yeah i just bought it :D
still waiting
Good for you sir
Have to worry about water, food, shelter, weapons, clothing, and the undead.
need coop
You can play co-op splitscreen locally, or with a friend online via remote play on Steam. One of you will need to use a controller!
are you sure, devs dont leave the game?) cuz beta 41 starts in 2018.. its to way long for making stable version of this update..
Lol, no. There's literally a blog post that came out today.
@@MrAtomicDuck m? i was today on something like deb blog. last update on november 19, 2020. or i was on wrong website? I cant understand why dev wouldnt post updates on steam?)
@@PrizrakSHIZA projectzomboid.com/blog/news/ dude there's literally a blog post about it every week since the game was started lmfao.
you got my view count, but i didn't watch the video. Bullshit click bait titles. Is this really how you want to gather a fan base?
dead game
